Born and bred in Leicester, lived in Rushey Mead most of my life, then lived off of Narborough Road for a few years before I left and moved to the States in '98. My mum (sounds like the other way of saying it now after all these years of hearing mom) used to work at the club for years in the catering department.

So exciting now they're back in the Prem. Have high hopes for Kramaric...he could really blossom this year. Nothing like waking up at 7am to watch the games or even earlier for a noon kickoff!

Blimey - didn't realize I had to write more :)

Grew up in Leam Spa, then moved to Reading and then moved to Houston in 2007 and been here since.

Same as a lot of folks, Dad from Leicester, Gramps from Leicester so would go up every weekend to watch the rugby but I was more into football so I would go to the City. My Gramps used to work for East Midlands electricity and was often the engineer on standby for the floodlights. First game I really was in 84 with mighty Steve Lynex and Gary Lineker playing. I also remember underlining the fact that I underlined Leicester in my Mexico 86 sticker book where it had place of birth for Gary Lineker and Peter Shilton, as well as John O'Neill who still played for us at the time.

Massive fan and love that I can watch every game (live and taped for mid week matches) now we are in the Prem. My fiancee is from North Carolina (MPH!) and she is now a convert. Took her to Spurs at home and Liverpool away this past Christmas.

This board is great for keeping up to date with news and gossip so I love it. Work is super busy but always pop on before or after (sometimes during like now!).

Thanks to the FT mods and organizers as well as the other members. It's a great community more often than not and one day hope to meet in a real pub for a pint! Until then...

That's awesome. Also I didn't know you and mph were a pair and getting married, congratulations!

Born and raised outside of Detroit. Like many American supporters I got interested in soccer and followed the men's national team. After the world cup in 14' I decided I wanted to follow the premier league as there is no local mls team to support.

I watched the first game of the season vs Everton, expecting to root for them because of American hero Tim Howard. But while watching the game, i just found myself rooting for the scrappy underdog Leicester side. Then I listened to the man U 5-3 game on the radio and it was decided.

I really enjoy watching what I believe is an up and coming club. One day, probably in the much distant future, I hope to be able to make it out for a game.

Grandad a City fan (apparently has a brick at the stadium, but i couldn't find it.)

Dad a City fan

I was born in Kettering, but taught the ways of Leicester before i could walk. (Dad also told me he played for City reserves, but i cant find any record of that and the Alzheimers may have played a part in that story  :( )

Left Kettering at 7 to head down under with family, spent the 70s following city on match of the day which we got about a week later and had the SHOOT! league tables (all 4 divisions) on the back of my bedroom door to keep up.

Met and married the delightful Mrs Oz (who remarkably, was born in... Ashby de.... amazing coincidence) distance, family, and life meant I lost contact with the club in the 90s until early 2000's and the arrival of the decent speed internet. Rediscovered my love as i was able to start to learn more again, listen, and even watch games.

Went back to UK to live in 2010 (planned 5-10 years)....lived in Measham and then Birmingham but could only survive 18 months and moved back to Oz in late 2011.

Probably a bigger fan now than ever.. or certainly since the early 70s and coming back again in December this year to catch four games and so will be spending the aussie summer following city across the norf.

This is a cool thread idea.

My story is pretty simple. I was never really into football being from Wisconsin. I played baseball and (American) football my whole life and never had time. But last fall I just started getting interested, for whatever reason. I started watching Premier League games and playing FIFA.

I was told by many to watch and let a team choose you. Well I went in with that attitude, but also with some limitations. I didn't want to follow one of the top 4. I didn't want to support a London club. That narrowed it down quite a bit. I started watching the games and was drawn towards Leicester. By the time of the Man U game I was hooked (if you notice the date I joined was the week after). I was 100% behind LCFC, started getting as much info as I could and learning the rich history.

I'm not sure if it can be pinpointed. My local American football team is the Green Bay Packers, the only professional sports team in America that is owned by the fans. In a city of just over 100,000 people. I support the Boston Red Sox in baseball, who were famously lovable losers until 2004. I just couldn't jump on a bandwagon of a top team, or support a team with seemingly unlimited resources, so here I am, and couldn't be happier.

I've relayed my story before... But here it goes again.

I knew nothing about club football growing up in Tennessee, USA. Basically just watched a bit of World Cup every four years.

Some time in the mid/late 90s ESPN (I think) began showing Champions League matches; I started watching and learning about the 'bigger' clubs. Then Fox Sports World (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Soccer) began broadcasting a lot of EPL matches in late 1997.

So in that season I decided to pick a club to support. I already knew that I wouldn't enjoy supporting a bigger club (masochist?). Leicester City employed one of the few (maybe only) American players in the EPL, Kasey Keller. So I went for the Blues, and have been a supporter ever since.

It was tough following when we were in the Championship. Oftentimes I only had access to weekly scores, match reports, and the table. (If I were to ask the wife to expand our cable subscription to include the more obscure networks that carried Championship matches, she might have harmed me.) Only last year, after we were promoted, did I get access to BeIN who currently show one or two Championship matches each week.

And, now that we are promoted, with the EPL contract to NBC in the states, I get access to every Leicester match streaming online!

Glory days!

This is fantastic, it's almost the same story I have, except the wife part. lol

During the Championship years (and League One season), I listened to BBCRL commentary via FoxesPlayer whenever I could, and went down to the bar on the odd days when City were on some sort of broadcast (they'd even rip P2P streams and throw them on a TV).

Well, I'm Jordan's twin brother, so that should neatly explain my connection to the club. ;)

lol

P.S. Congrats to HoustonFox and MPH!

Thanks for all the wishes but I can confirm that my fiancée is not MPH, they just share being from NC! Unless... Well she is on her phone/iPad a lot so maybe she's posting on here too!

Top thread for us Foxiles, can't wait for Saturday morning / afternoon/ evening (depending on where you are). Hoping for a good three points to start us off right and, maybe... we might have have signed Aranguiz and Inler by then too - lol!

Glory hunting gone wrong.... Very wrong... But it has been an awesome ride...:)

It started in 1996 when Leicester beat Newcastle 2-0 a week after Newcastle had demolished Man Utd and the Danish superstar Peter Schmeichel 5-0. Funny that Schmeichel junior is now a Leicester player.

Born and bred in the States with no real connections overseas. I always paid a little bit of attention to the World Cup over the years, but during this past cup I really got bitten by the bug. I started watching MLS but I wanted to follow a Premier League club. I spent a few weeks researching and watching a little bit, but like a lot of the other Americans around here, I knew I would never be able to fully get behind one of "Big 4" or others in that upper echelon. I had initially intended to pick someone who had been consistently mid table so that I (hopefully) wouldn't have to worry about relegation, or at least not immediately.

But then I discovered Leicester. I loved a lot of things about them from the badge and the Foxes monicker to the history of the MON years. The fact that I was completely new to following the sport and the Foxes were sort of "new" to the Premier League since they had been gone so long just made it feel very right and something I could really get behind. I lurked here for a good while before joining. Safe to say now that I would have continued following the club even if they had been relegated, but I'd be lying if I said following the escape wasn't some of the most fun I've ever had as a sports fan. Made it a really cool and memorable year to have become a fan. I feel like I've been following them forever now and I'm obviously really glad that I picked this team to follow (or as others say - they picked me.) I love the look on people's faces when the Premier League or the sport in general comes up and I say I support Leicester.

Do you guys like having a bunch of Yanks around here?

Yes, you can usually find them in that particular *ahem* Soccer thread in the General Sports section.

Speaking of which, do you guys prefer us to call it football? I would assume so but I also feel like it kind of makes us sound pretentious and like we're trying too hard haha.

If you're speaking American English, the word is "soccer." Don't worry about it. :)

And never sing in a fake accent, hahah.

lol... tricky one this.

Last time i was back and the "get into em...fook em up"  was being sung.

Well im not sure if you all know immediately the different pronunciation of the letter "U"  but when that song is sung by an "aussie accent" it just sounds WRONG :) Fortunately with Leics parents and inlaws i can sort of slip into something resembling the accent lol.

I'm actually a former Sacramento fan following Preki FC.  I started supporting this club because I'd heard Preki was going to manage here and now I'm staying on as a fan of team LCFC until somebody finds out where he went.

The search continues! Did you check between the couch cushions? Lose all sorts of shit down there.

Born in Leicester (Oadby), my grandparents and all my family are from Leicester. We moved to Sydney when I was 3.

I will always remember going back to Leicester for a holiday to see the family when I was about 7. We went to a LCFC game and were given VIP treatment, met all the players (including Shilton) got signatures, scarfs, pennants and lots of other stuff. Had the pennants on my wall for years and have always followed LCFC.

My wife and 2 boys are now avid supporters and we all wear our jerseys with pride. Its great when someone over here actually knows who they are, and even better when we meet another fan.

Its much more exclusive than being a Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool fan, especially as we have a connection, unlike most football supporters over here. :-)

Hoping to get the family over there again later in the year to catch a couple of games..

Leicester born, living in Vietnam.

I was the only foxes supporter in a packed bar when we smashed Man U 5-3, Man U are huge here too. I was going mental on my own, the bar manager (from Newcastle) bought me a drink for my bravery!

Best memory as a foxes fan.

Australian born, never even left the country

Was given a FIFA game years back and knowing very little about British football, chose Leicester because I liked their logo the best. Almost 15 years later, I'm still not sure if it was a wise choice  :nigel:

Born in Leicester, been in Denmark for 18 years. We lived in Rothley until I was eight. Then my parents decided that we were off to denmark. I got an N64 as a gift, so that was pretty cool. Life is absolutely top here, but I really miss going to Leicester matches.

Born in Leicester, Dad & Grandad supported the City. Lived in various places round the county, last one was Evington.   In my early 20's got a job in London, so have seen City at most of the Southern grounds.  After that work took me around the country, but never back to Leicester.    Nearly 20 years ago Mrs Mayofox brought me over to Ireland, but the feeling for City doesn't go away, in fact it gets stronger!

Started following Leicester City when I was at Uni in Leicester in the late 70s. My first season was the disastrous 77-78 Frank McLintock season was I was certainly no glory hunter. Still it paid off two years later- 79/80 my favourite year. A high point as a fan was hitch-hiking from Vienna (where I was living) to Leicester for the final game of the 82/83 season where we secured promotion. My most memorable match seen live is the 5-2 FA Cup match against Shrewsbury (three goalkeepers and all that).I lived in New York during most the MON era and saw a lot of games in Irish pubs (most memorably the League Cup win against Middlesborough). I now live in Germany and follow through the RL commentaries and the televised games but did get over one game last season (Burnley at home) and hope to do the same again this year.
