So you dislike an os that is open and has almost endless possibilities but you prefer an os that locks you into the use of their own software and over priced services? Good for you!

Yawn.

No new iMacs.... Sort this shit apple.

Really liked the new animated photo feature. Such a simple idea but really will add another dimension to your photos.

Love the way people on the apple ship won't ever listen to a reasoned argument.

I have an iPad because Apple are the best at tablets hands down. iOS is really stable on iPads.

I have an android phone because they are the best technology on smartphones by a country mile.

I am stuck with a windows laptop for work, now on windows 10 which is really quite nice. Love Mac as well but windows edges it on cross platform capabilities.

Makes sense. iPhones are glitchy, badly made, break easily, Apple purposely phase out older models by making an iOS just too broad for older specs and are more expensive than an android phone.

my iphone deal was cheaper than most comparable android deals and has never broken and never "glitched" or had any issues at all (touch wood). i've had an iphone for nearly 4 years now, a 4s and now a 5s, and never had to take it to a shop or even think about trying to fix anything cos no part of it has ever gone wrong. i updated to a 5s cos i thought i may as well but it was nothing to do with the condition or workability (not a word?) of my old phone.

the only issue i have is battery life and that's not that much of an issue with the amount of places you can charge a phone these days (trains etc) and the amount of easy, cheap and quite decent portable chargers.

You posted all of that and nobody cares. Thanks buddy

You are a lucky boy, I know plenty who would give a lot of money to be in your position. Forever seeing friends with cracked I-phone screens. They are also known for the issues I pointed out, it's not like I plucked that statement out of no where. Depends what you are class as comparable there I guess.

Mate this is an Internet forum, forums are for people to discuss and debate. Or maybe no one should post just because you 'don't care'. Mark will be most upset when everyone leaves because the forum isn't being posted in.

cracked iPhone screens is nothing to do with the phone though is it really. pretty sure i could get any phone ever made and if I was off my nut in town and lashed it down some steps trying to bell a taxi the phone would crack.

you can read about issues all you want, ive had an iPhone for years and never had any issues. id get an android if it was a better deal or as nice to use or look at but none of them are from what i can tell. i don't really care what phone i have as long as it works well, looks decent and is cheap enough. which my iphone is.

Whichever type of phone you prefer, it's important to confirm you made the right decision by occasionally picking up a handset from a rival manufacturer, randomly stab at the screen a few times with a pained look on your face before declaring it shit

The people outside looked from religion to smartphones, and from smartphones to religion, and from religion to smartphones again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Perhaps because people don't give a shit about the sort of things you want to do on your phone. They just want to text and call, check facebook, look on twitter, take some pictures and post them on instagram and look at the odd map and buy some shit from amazon. They want to do that with the minimum of fuss, something which apple are always ahead of the rest.

I am largely in 'I don't care as long it ticks all boxes' camp but I got to disagree- all tasks you mentioned are easy to do on either android or apple as long you know your way around that phone.  The only thing that Apple is better at is that they tend to get exclusivity on some apps first before Android.

I think it's less about Apple vs everyone else now and more why the heck so many people buy high end smartphones now to do the things you've listed, when you can buy branded devices that do all those things for between £100-£200 and the user experience is eerily similar to that on a device costing £500 or more.

As for Android vs IOS, being fairly familiar with both (I've not had the pleasure of Windows mobile yet) I don't think in practice either is really better than the other for most users. The main advantage of Android is that you can have a good Android experience for not a lot of money. That's really the main reason I have an Android phone - I'm not keen on having something costing £500 plus in my pocket, and even less enthusiastic about paying for it

Bang on. I'm familiar with IOS, WP and Android and personally I'd say the "Apple is easiest to use" thing is pretty garbage and certainly doesn't justify the price difference between an iPhone and an Android equivalent

WP is definitely the most fuss-free and novice-friendly OS. It's also incredibly quick, even on lower end phones but the lack of available apps holds it back for me

Android and Apple are so similar in terms of layout and what you get out of the box, and I don't understand why people think Android is hard to use. I would never get an iPhone as I have an Android phone which does everything an iPhone can with a full HD 5.5" screen, except it cost £120 from China. If it breaks, I'd get another or maybe a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. They're incredible value for a UK-branded phone. Most Androids also have a MicroSD card slot, so there's another huge saving over iPhones

The only things I'd say iPhones are good for are some of the exclusive apps, syncing to other Apple products and resale value if you chop and change regularly. Don't understand people forking out upto £800 for the iPhone 6 Plus, seems absolutely mental to me

That Vodafone is probably what I'd get if my Moto G 4G dies, now that the cost of the Motorolas seems to be creeping up.

Not even locked to Vodafone, according to a review I read last night.

Someone at work has a Chinese import Android phone, goodness knows what. It has a massive, pretty good screen and she's more than happy with it. Cost about £70

Of course it is. If you are going to go for a cheaper screen to save costs then thats their problem, and unfortunately, their customers too

ive had two over three/four years have got very drunk most weeks and dropped my phone from time to time and never even seen a scratch, let alone a crack.

my sister had a samsung and it smashed to pieces. my best mate has a htc and most of the screen fell out.

smashing things is careless owning, not careless creating. you could have a sony ericsson from 2006 and it's crack if you dropped it in town or you could have an iphone 6 and it wouldn't smash if you didn't drop it in town.

Yeah I've gotta say none of my iPhone's have ever cracked. But my Sony Z3 cracked within a week, nothing against the Sony though, lovely phone and id recommend it to anyone who wanted an android.

I always do Google's nexus line of android phones. I can't stand the skins manufacturers put on android.

I'd agree with that but Motorola do a pretty good job of giving a clean android ui and pricing is ok, nexus prices crept up with the Nexus 6 and I expect the two new Nexus phones announced next month won't be cheap.

Definitely. The Motorola thing happened when Google owned them. The next Nexus 5 should be reasonably priced, with the Nexus 6 costing a Apple prices.

They have a new one coming out, along with a new Nexus 5.

The Nexus 6, current and new, are/will still be cheaper than Apple, but definitely more than the original Nexus devices.

I'm on my second version of Nexus, having had the Nexus S and currently the 5. I probably will upgrade early next year to the new Nexus 5X, which is due to be launched Sept 29 I believe.

Good to find a fellow Nexus user on here!

It's a good phone, big screen, good enough and fast enough to watch porn. The screen isn't as robust as I thought, I cracked it, it cost me a ton to fix. Still glad o got it
