New Apple iPhone Announcement today

Anybody excited about the upcoming press conference to announce a few minor upgrades and iOS 9 today?

I heard rumours they're working on a slightly thicker iPhone (thick as in depth, not with regards to Siri's AI :D ).

Other than that, let's see what they have in the pipeline. I've become a bit oblivious to Apple's current tech direction - the latest products have merely improved on the inside, but their progress overall is stalling a little.

Apple TV? iCar? Who needs that? I wish they'd focus more on their core business.

Nothing compared to the hype in between 2001 and 2011 when Jobs was still at the helm, I think. But maybe we were all pretty spoiled back then with all the advancements.

In the words of David O'Doherty

People with iPhones, stop trying to show me what it can do, I couldn't give a $hit, they've been around for years. When will you realise the truth, there is no app for loneliness!

Can't say it's top of my agenda today but each to their own.

On a side note, I did upgrade my old iPhone 4 to a 5s last week - which is nice...

Wish they'd stop making it thinner and do away with the ghastly colours. First gold which was bad enough, and now rumours of pink. Steve Jobs didn't die for this.

Waiting for people with Samsungs to come and tell us how better their phones are. I think if we wanted a samsung people would have bought one already.

I'm always interested to see how enthused people are because it affects the profitability of the company I work for as a supplier to the phone manufacturers, if things go as usual the announcement of an S upgrade will mean a lean year for sales.

pretty sure people with samsung/android phones care more about apple updates than people who actually have iphones

More interested in the mac updates. I'm not expecting a revolution but the current ones are about three years old now and I'd like to upgrade to a 27".

Managed to get myself an NUS extra card. So I'll get a couple of hundred quid off and some free beats headphones (that I'll flog). So fingers crossed they let you order the new ones before the 18th when the back to school promo ends.

I'm more interested in the Windows Phone 10 launch and how it all ties in with the Windows 10 Operating system.  The fact that the whole platform is built on the same kernel and your phone can effectively become a windows 10 PC through continuum, is most likely the way the industry will move forward.

With 75 million users already on Windows 10 and the premise of Universal Apps, it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

It's Windows... it will be shit.

Had to use a pc with Windows for the first time in 16 years last week, wanted to kill myself within 5 minutes.

If you are a mac user, then the Windows paradigm makes no sense anyway. Better to be on one platform as the technology interacts better.  Personally, I'm bought into the windows ecosystem, so the Surface Tablet, Xbox, Windows Phone and Laptop all link very well.

Horses for courses and all that.

I think instead of buying an iPhone this time I'm just going to post a picture of a wad of cash on Facebook. I think the exact objective will be achieved but I'll also still have the money to spend of something at least a little worthwhile.

Upgrading for the sake of upgrading is pointless. The changes now are so small with each version it's just not worth it at all. I tend to upgrade about every 4 years (unless the phone dies). Two years on contract then two years sim only, paying about £7 a month.

It was windows 8 that I was on, but the UI was just shocking.

It felt like everything needed 5 more clicks to achieve than the exact same thing on my mac.  Would be interested to see the newer versions.

You're a proper sad bastard if you're a "fanboy" of either windows, os or android.

Just get the best phone you can get for your budget and stop being a little **** about it.
