Missing a Leicester Home Game

Recommended Posts

Posted

Sunday will be the first home game that I've missed since first going regularly from around the age of 9 (I'm now 23), in order to do the Great North Run for Cystic Fibrosis.

Got me thinking what it would take for some posters on here who have been as or more regularly than myself to miss a game, meant as a light-hearted topic - so obviously things like funerals or serious family matters are a given.

That's pretty dedicated! and a great charity selection I ran a half for CF last year.

Only really miss games if I really have to weddings are a pain as most of the time you don't want to be there but have to! At least on Sunday you should of finished by 4 and it will be on in most pubs!

Last home game I missed was when I was 17, Wolves at home (got battered 4-1 didn't we?) in 06-07. I honestly couldn't imagine missing a home game now. Away game are just about tolerable, but I couldn't do a home game. Nothing stops a home game. I nearly caused a small war when I suggested that if our friends wedding was the Saturday (Sunderland last month) and not the Friday which it was, I would've done the ceremony but not the wedding breakfast. When I jokingly suggested to our other friend she's lucky I'm attending her wedding next year is the end of the football season and before Euro 2016 (major tournaments are a not-to-miss event too) I honestly thought I was going to die. lol

I unfortunatly missed the man u home game last season due to being on holiday in Amsterdam. First one I've missed in a long time and what a game to miss! Managed to watch it in a pub over there though that was full of Man u fans, so still got plenty of satisfaction from seeing the look on their faces when Vardy scored lol

My only reason is work. Last season I missed Burnley and Sunderland (both draws so didn't miss much) because I was away on fieldwork in the Lake District & California. I think I got the better deal actually being in California instead of seeing us draw 0-0 with Sunderland.

Since the start of the season the trains have been an absolute nightmare from York - Leicester so I'm having second thoughts about making the effort at winter when I'm back from uni and the weather is shite. I don't mind missing games so much now there's always a stream tbf.

I was very worried last season as I booked Paul McCartney tickets on the same day as the QPR game thinking we'd be relegated by then, thankfully it was the complete opposite in the end and I didn't mind missing it.

I arranged to buy a ticket from someone on this forum for Norwich away. It turns out he won't be at the game on Sunday as he's in Las Vegas for the Mayweather fight.

Ironic really as I'll miss the Palace game next month as I'll be in Dusseldorf for the Fury vs Klitschko fight.

Haven't missed a home game since we beat Ipswich 3-0 in the Championship due to work. Before that I missed the Huddersfield 6-1 victory on NYD, again due to work. That was the first game on my half season ticket that year, which was why it was so important for me to go to the Boro game, despite the whole country almost coming to a standstill due to snow. Slightly off subject but kind of relevant in terms of what would it take for you to miss a home game.

I was thinking of missing the Watford game in November to go and watch Olympique Lyonnais vs Saint Etienne. I can imagine the atmosphere being superb, it's a great excuse for a small trip and it wouldn't be too expensive. However that game has been moved to 21:00 on the Sunday, meaning I can make both games! So I'll probably do that now.

Respect for both going regularly and running for a great cause!

A quick calculation suggests you've been going since around 2001, when it all went wrong. So you've endured a long shower of shit with some enjoyable sunny breaks.

I've been a season ticket holder since 2003. Only time I've missed home games was during the last three seasons when I was at Uni. Couldn't afford to keep getting the train every week so I gave my season ticket to my brother who went instead. I still averaged 13 home games a season, which wasn't too bad. Now I've finished Uni though I'll be returning to attending every home game again.

Thanks for the messages chaps! Managed to complete it in just under 2 hours, even managed to see a few people in Leicester gear which is always a bonus! Very much mixed emotions about missing the game, obviously delighted that we won, but never happy to miss a comeback win like that - long may it continue of course!

Ps if anyone is feeling particularly generous, my sponsorship link is at the bottom :D.

My OH didn't miss any games (Home/Away and in Europe) between 1995 and 2010 but had to miss one as part of her commitments when becoming a Barrister in 2010, she hasn't missed one since, I miss 1 or 2 games a year due to business travel and gave away my ticket to Old Trafford last year because I hate the place.

I've been a season ticket holder for 6 years. Generally miss 2 games a season due to holidays. Last year it was united and Swansea games. Bit gutted!

I was another one who missed the United game last year - was planning on going but was on holiday in New York for the week due to get back Sunday morning and straight to the game ............. bloody flight was delayed and got back in Leicester just after half time , we were 3-1 down so decided it wasn't worth trying to get in - one of those decisions you live to regret!!

Edit - only other home game missed last season was West Ham, the start of the Great Excape! Regretted that one too ........... moral is don't miss games,

Wiil miss the Arsenal game, am on holiday in Gran Canaria.

Taking my Tablet to hopefully watch it if I cannot find a bar showing the game.

Failing that could someone pm me with links to the best sites for the game?
