cityfanlee23 Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 We are starting to see glimpses at times (although less under Ranieri) of the form we had under Pearson, Where it takes us 45 mins to get going, The amount of times I've seen us play absolutely terrible for the first 20-45 mins, then have to come back is astonishing. It cannot keep happening, Why does this happen though?I know we have done well under Ranieri in some games and come out of the blocks fast, but days like today, against better opposition, Why did we take so long to get going? We cannot blame the international break, everyone had it... Just seems a bit like a running theme for us that we sometimes can't get it together until the 2nd half, I could understand if we were against the kosh for the first half, but we were not, Southampton were not exactly peppering us and pinning us back, we just kept needlessly losing the ball, almost looked as if they just didn't care, Dyer and mahrez come on, and we come alive.
yorkie1999 Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Fitness comes into its own in the second half.
cityfanlee23 Posted 17 October 2015 Author Posted 17 October 2015 Who cares Well, the fact we conceded 2 goals in that time should probably make everyone care really? I'm glad you couldn't care less if we concede
Nalis Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 I think its more trying suss out the opposition and improving our set up accordingly as the game goes on as opposed to the team simply staying in first gear for the first 60 mins of a game. And fitness too!
Guest kristianity77 Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Imagine if we didn't have a leaky defence.....

WTF do you mean "glimpses at times although less under Ranieri of the form we had under Pearson" when we are sitting 5th in the fvcking PREMIER LEAGUE. We have come out the blocks fast in games this season. Please show me a manager that has engineered coming out the blocks perfectly in every game he has managed.
cityfanlee23 Posted 17 October 2015 Author Posted 17 October 2015 Entertainment values There's entertainment then there are health hazards
Benji Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Imagine if we didn't have a leaky defence..... We probably wouldn't score as many. If we did, we'd be Man City, Arsenal etc.
adam Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Get over it Lee. Your hero has left .Try and get behind the new bloke. Do you remember the first half of last season?

We have come out the blocks fast in games this season. Please show me a manager that has engineered coming out the blocks perfectly in every game he has managed. What I mean is, Under Pearson we seemed to take 45 minutes to get going very often, not so much under Ranieri, but at times we have shown that lack of desire in early stages of games, like today.. I did not say I would show you a manager who has engineered a perfect start.. but this isn't about a "perfect start" this is about players even looking interested, first half it was debatable whether they wanted to get going or not, Some players ran their socks off, but as a collective we were poor, which is something we've had for years, as i said, less under Ranieri. Get over it Lee. Your hero has left .Try and get behind the new bloke. Do you remember the first half of last season? My Hero? what the **** are you on about? I was calling for Pearsons head last year... It's nothing to do with pearson, It's about the team and the fact it's been a problem we have had for a lot of years.
Captain... Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 We were as good as Southampton first half, they just had the set piece quality that we couldn't deal with
cityfanlee23 Posted 17 October 2015 Author Posted 17 October 2015 We were as good as Southampton first half, they just had the set piece quality that we couldn't deal with Really? I did not think so, and reading through the match thread there are plenty of people who thought we were playing poor at the time.

All you do is criticise .Every post you make there are negative comments .Were bloody 5th and probably playing the best football in the league.

I think I know what he means.Last season we wouldn't have come back from 2-0 down. We'd have played well, but the subs would have been too late. Fortunately, CR is subbing earlier and we are still playing quality football. But in reality, we are not playing too much differently, Vardy is just putting them away this year.
Merging Cultures Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 We didn't play badly first half, we just couldn't score or defend...

I don't always criticise you fool, I've posted tonnes of positive posts about out play, and how players are playing. Don't be a cock. "probably playing the best football in the league" Great, glad you have an opinion, I think we are playing well, but not the best in the league.. The difference between me and you, is I am a progressive, I want to see progression no matter where we are. You seem to think constructive criticism is not allowed because we are 5th, therefore everything is perfect and will always be that way. Fix the roof when the sun is shining, you clearly don't understand that.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Mahrez and Dyer coming on meant Ranieri was going all out attack it proved to work yet again... Dyer looks amazing and should start with Mahrez next game, let's not relie on our defence that is our weakness need to play to our strengths.

So where do you think we are going wrong to be 2-0, Their goals were not fantastic, is it down to quality or concentration? or both?

whoareyaaa Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 I think its the way he set's up first half, then when we go down its ok lets revert to all out attack, and we somehow keep a clean sheet. I don't know what it is? we do need to get in front more in games though or go into half time level. I agree we do give ourselfs a lot to do and we could have another 5 or 6 points if we play the first half how we do the second.
cityfanlee23 Posted 17 October 2015 Author Posted 17 October 2015 Agreed. Perhaps a 3-5-2 might work Someone needs to send Ranieri a Letter or something
NewquayFox Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 First 10/15 minutes we were fantastic, then for the rest of the half we were awful. Okazaki isn't Premier league standard I'm sorry to say, Schlupp and Albrighton were poor. 2nd half with Mahrez & Dyer we were a revelation adt that team have to start next week with the exception of Ulloa for Albrighton. Could have won it but happy with the draw and loved the faces on the Southampton fans next to us... PS.... Drinky needs shooting lessons.... Up the City... From a pub full of Saints fans ha haa...
