Christoph Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I'm all for these "glory fans". Better than supporting the obvious top 4 or liverpool
ronnup Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Kids. Work. Geography. Finance. Health. None of these make you less of a fan.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Like someone said above their is a difference between a fan and a supporter. If you have a connection to Leicester or Leicestershire and have an affinity with the local area and its traditions, history and culture that the club, as an embodiment of the area in sport, represents then you are supporter of the football club. Not only is it just a group of eleven lads you are supporting but also the ideas the club should represent Football clubs back in the day were founded on the back of local traditions and industries that were prevalent in that area in those times. Obviously the world has changed but if you're from the area those are part of your personal history. If have no connection to what the football club represents and just chose a football club to support out of a hat then you are merely a consumer of the product(s) the club sells.

Larry_LCFC Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 As above. No good will ever come out of cock measuring threads like these. Do us all a favour and banish it.
lgfualol Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Funnily enough, a good friend of mine lives in Los Angeles. We've not actually met face to face since the mid-1980s, but we keep in regular touch with emails/Skype etc. Anyway, he's has become a real fan over the past few months. I was bemoaning our luck in a pre-Christmas email last year, and he started to take an interest, and once the Greatest Escape started he was hooked. This season he watches on a stream, shouting for the Foxes, and sends me emails during games like "Go Foxes, Go" and "Vardy's Streak is now eight"! Love it - he shares an office with an Arsenal fan, and they are now seriously discussing whether City will get to the Champion's League next season. I have relatives in America. They have recently got into supporting Leicester and I get those types of messages every minute from one of them on match days. He came over for the West Ham game last April and had the time of his life.
possiblygeorge Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Being a 'glory boy' or not, i'm sure every other Club below us would love to have what we have at the moment and what we've been through in the past few months.
UPinCarolina Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 You are getting a lot new fans over here in the states. Leicester games have become must see TV in my circle of friends. I fell in love last year during the run in. Amen. Watched Vardy/Leicester highlights from the Championship and the first few Leicester matches (I remember the Arsenal game and the Manchester United game in particular, though I think I was a little sauced up for the second and just wanted to see United lose) - liked what I saw on the field and the club had a compelling history. Wasn't willing to support a team I didn't believe had something larger than on-field success behind it.
tomlcfc01 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 I was there for that one but didnt make it to the league game #shitfanI was there for the home league one
Tim'llFixIt Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 I was chatting to a guy yesterday in his mid twenty's and it turns out he was a city fan, anyway a few beers down the line he started giving me jib saying that im not a proper fan because I don't have a season ticket and get to many games ( broke uni student myself but rarely miss a game on RL or stream and haven't since we got demoted from championship ) I think if you have got your self to the kp of filbo for the likes of Grimsby town, Preston n.e, and the rest if the gritty teams like I have down the years then my commitment to the foxes is evident But I have seen a few people crawl out of the woodwork on my social media in recent times (prem times) and give it the " I'm a Leicester boy" biggun and it does give me a chuckle, its not a bad thing I like the added support and the full stadium as well as the lovers of mahrez on the lcfc Facebook Have you guys came across any glory hunters in recent times
Guest Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 Anyone from Leicester can support them without being "glory fans". love the way the OP says he's a student and talks about "down the years". Makes me feel really, really old.
Tim'llFixIt Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 Haha 22 myself but first game was Grimsby town at flibo in the early 2000's Anyone from Leicester is fine, but half of the glory lot have every united, Liverpool or arsenal shirt for the past 20 years except the past two seasons

Not everyone can be like the posters on here who will follow through bad and worse.
Renart Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 I don't care why and for how long you have supported this club. That doesn't mean I don't respect or appreciate fans whose commitment to the club is obvious to all without even shouting about it; but I don't meet someone who says he is a Leicester City supporter and imagine some fabricated hierarchy based on the above criteria and position myself either above or below them. Why would you do that? Seems really strange. I don't really care for this conversation to-be-honest.

Jattdogg Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 As you do well more fans will come out of the wood work and theres nothing wrong with that. The big clubs have fans of all types. If your buying the merchandise, tickets and making our club richer and more globally attractive then i cant complain. I live in canada but was born in leicester. Been a huge fan since i got into football back in 1992 when i was about 12-13. Obviously i cant watch games live often but do catch them whenever i can on tele. Thanks to the wonderful world of streaming i can practically see most games (time and life circumstances permitting). We are 5 hours behind so not always the greatest time to catch a game at 10am when ive got young kids and shopping to do on the weekend.

Make sure you stay out of the after match thread then, don't want you spoiling the result for yourself!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 5 hours behind? Make sure you stay out of the after match thread then, don't want you spoiling the result for yourself! he should put a bet on Leicester to win 2-1... Kante first scorer...
Jattdogg Posted 7 November 2015 Posted 7 November 2015 i usually watch every game so it works out. I used to wear my yellow walkers crisps top to highschool back in 90s and every fellow football fan at school would say "lie chester, who is that crap team. I support liverpool". Oh right course you do. Now im going to head out to the shops with my black (this seasons) top on proudly doing my part to expand our presence here in drakes toronto. Will be sure to give some mean muggin faces at any manure or lpool fans I see. he should put a bet on Leicester to win 2-1... Kante first scorer... back to the future almanac?
Benguin Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 If someone is getting enjoyment out of watching Leicester, what is the problem? Football is such a lucrative market because so many people enjoy it. It doesn't matter if someone has been enjoying Leicester since they were a little nipper or have 'jumped on the bandwagon' so to speak, the more people enjoying little old Leicester the better for everyone. The only thing I hate is when people say something negative about Leicester who have no real knowledge of Leicester, they can fvck off and die!
roblcfc84 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 It's healthy - means we are going places. It's a great feeling at work, living in the north east for years I've been surrounded by Newcastle fans and loads of Liverpool for some reason. For years it was like we weren't even considered - what league are you lot in? Their lack of knowledge tbf. But now everyone is talking about Leicester, I get so many texts off mates, old work colleagues, people I used to play footy with buzzing off the way we are playing. Even my step dad who is a forest fan says how good we are. For the first time I can ever remember everyone is saying good things about our club. We are that club everyone loves and looks forward to watching - anyone listen to the guardian podcast they love us on there. I remember Hartlepool away in JPL, i wondered if we would ever get back into the BPL
