lestajigs Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Now City are getting a lot of attention nationally, has anybody seen evidence of glory boys/ hangers on starting to "support" City? My grandson in California wears his Leicester kit, much to the annoyance of his Man Utd supporting dad Without being racist, you see a lot more Asians since we got to the prem!
fuchsntf Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 We need more glory boys, hell of alot more, then I can return to Leicester, and open a Prawn sandwich bar, At the moment, I'll only be able to sell prawn crackers.
Gforce19 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Without being racist, you see a lot more Asians since we got to the prem!Without being racist you see a lot more whites down at the KP now that we are doing well in the prem.WTF are you on !!! As if what u said is not racist
Vlad the Fox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I don't trust anyone who doesn't end a conversion with a 'pleat out' as we part.
lgfualol Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Definitely growing fan base in America. They seem to love teams that play with passion, underdogs, etc. I've noticed the amount of Leicester fans on the football section of mainly American site Reddit increase since our amazing survival. Next summer, should we continue playing so well, could make a ton of money playing abroad.
possiblygeorge Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I started supporting this incredible Club back in March (the 10th to be precise). Surely, doesn't make me a glory hunter, does it? I wouldn't think so, but, each to their own i guess!
Larry_LCFC Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 The only people I can't stomach are ones who switch clubs. Never understood it, never will do. Anyone else, more the merrier.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I don't know about from the outside but it sure as hell makes it easier to guide my 4 year old to be a Leicester fan. He started taking a real interest in football around March time and since then as we've barely lost. All he wants to do is wear his City kit and watch the Match of thr Day highlights on Sunday mornings. Every day he's playing football in the living room pretending to be a different City player. This amazing run of form certainly came at the right time for me.
Benguin Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I must admit. I am a late bloomer in my following of Leicester. Born and bread in Leicester and if asked who I supported id say Leicester but growing up I was more into rugby. Went to my first football match when I was around 19 against Sheffield (hate to say I was dragged) 4-2 if I remember correctly and from then I was hooked.

Buggsteam Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Maybe these fans should support their local side rather than turning to the flavour of the month. Live in Leicestershire? Great, come along and bring your lad along if you can get a ticket. Live in Devon? I'm sure Torquay or Exeter would value your support much more than we would and in the long run so will you. I live just outside Birmingham. Does that mean I should be a Villa fan?
loAf Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 So, you finally used your loaf.. if he did i certainly didnt notice
Guest Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I live just outside Birmingham. Does that mean I should be a Villa fan? no one should be a Villa fan
AKCJ Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 gonna start seeing loads of these soon fake, thats the old badge
Len Finsbury Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 If you don't speak with a Leicester accent, you're a glory boy!
suffolk fox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Without being racist you see a lot more whites down at the KP now that we are doing well in the prem. WTF are you on !!! As if what u said is not racist Christ on a bike are you on the race relations board or something? Political correct wannabees like you should not be on this board? Point of order here if it's factually correct it can't be racist. Facts are more persons of the Asian variety are now watching Leicester than were previously. There is nothing racist in that fact nothing at all. A point I would like to make I was standing at the away end at West Brom on Saturday a very pleasant young couple male and female who looked chinese asked me to take their picture whilst they held up Their free LCFC scarves. Is that Racist too? I bet you are one of those who listen into peoples conversations at work when they are sitting at another table, then go crawling to the boss, saying so and so was Racist, sexist etc, etc. I agree there is no place for Racism or Sexism in modern society but if it offends you enourmously stay away from public and social Media sites if you are offended by facts that are in no way offensive.
stripeyfox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 It is not suprising we are attracting attention for all the right reasons. This has to be a good thing right? Whilst accepting that it might not last forever, right now we are living in almost fairytale Roy of the Rovers stuff. The media love this sort of thing and for once we are the good guys. People all around the country and indeed the world who “consume” the Premier League must look at Leicester and think “wow”. All the ingredients for the fairytale are there – albeit in the rather one dimensional world that most people get their football “news” - being rock bottom and nailed on relegation loomed, then the corpse twitched and we went on the incredible run. And at the centre of it all, a rags to riches ragamuffin with a crap haircut and big chin who is single handedly tearing defences to pieces and now the clamour for him to lead the line for his country. We should be welcoming these new fans – whether actual match goers, or just a new forum member from the USA or wherever – with open arms!
Grewks Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Without being racist you see a lot more whites down at the KP now that we are doing well in the prem. WTF are you on !!! As if what u said is not racist Do you understand what 'racism' is? I would say that i see a much larger amount of asian fans down the KP in comparison to 10 years ago. Whether it is down to an increasing number of asian immigrants entering the country, an increased repuatition in the footballing world or the fact that are owners are from that part of the globe......i certainly take more notice that there is a larger asian population at the ground at the very least. It isn't racist to call someone a glory supporter...Some people are brainwashed so easily.
Staffs Fox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I dislike all this 'where were you when we were shit' talk. I was a ST Holder in the disastrous 07/08 season and quite frankly it doesn't get much shitter than that but I don't think it gives me a sense a entitlement or superiority over the newbie's. I love the fact this club is getting bigger and more people are starting to realise what a magnificent club this is. Going to games vs MK Dons in front of 20,000 was not as good as watching us play in the Prem with a 32,000 sell out rocking the place. Do I care where the extra 12,000 come from? No, they are there now, which is all that counts. Also if you start down that road, someone will have always try to be one up on you. 'I was a supporter when Craig Levein was in charge' 'That's nothing, I was a supporter when we had David Pleat' etc etc etc. It's like that Monty Python Yorkshiremen Sketch.
LanguedocFox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Now City are getting a lot of attention nationally, has anybody seen evidence of glory boys/ hangers on starting to "support" City? My grandson in California wears his Leicester kit, much to the annoyance of his Man Utd supporting dad Funnily enough, a good friend of mine lives in Los Angeles. We've not actually met face to face since the mid-1980s, but we keep in regular touch with emails/Skype etc. Anyway, he's has become a real fan over the past few months. I was bemoaning our luck in a pre-Christmas email last year, and he started to take an interest, and once the Greatest Escape started he was hooked. This season he watches on a stream, shouting for the Foxes, and sends me emails during games like "Go Foxes, Go" and "Vardy's Streak is now eight"! Love it - he shares an office with an Arsenal fan, and they are now seriously discussing whether City will get to the Champion's League next season.
bovril Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Price and mileage mean it's difficult for some people to watch football. My parents are in their late 60s, my Mum went to all the cup finals in the 1960's but both of them stopped going during the Taylor - Holloway years just because it was difficult and pricey and, to be honest, fvcking crap. Why spend a small fortune on watching us lose 0-1 to Norwich in January? They've been drawn back in the last few months purely because of the quality of football on show. It's entertaining and there is a positive atmosphere around the club. Good football and big crowds, long may it continue.
Leeds Fox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Most on here will support and go watch City regardless of the standard of football, division or anything else that's going on at the club. It's a testament to the owners, players and staff that the population of Leicester is taking more of a interest in the club than they might have done 10 years ago. So what if they don't buy the shirts, get a season ticket or even know who our next fixture is against! It's their team as much as anyone else's and it's good to see a city be proud of their football team. Having lived in Leeds with some of the most proud, if not blind football supporters in the country, it's amazing to have our boys shut them up for a while. Even the ones who've always given me stick for supporting City, are warming towards us, and everyone asks about Mahrez and Vardy!
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I hate all this 'I've been a fan for longer than you' bollocks. Unless you were there in 1884 there's always someone who's been going longer than you, it's so hollow to boast about how long you've been going for.
Swiper Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Funny thing is, I chose to follow Leicester in August of last year with one of my primary thoughts being I'd never have to be considered a glory hunter or bandwagoner when I tell people I support Leicester city. Obviously happy with my decision these days though! I really could see this club growing a fanbase here in the states. The playstyle, tenacity, never say die mentality is the type of thing that will attract American fans. Not to mention Vardy's climb from the absolute bottom. This could really be a massive untapped market if the club will take advantage of it. Make kits and merchandise available here. We've already had a handful of the games televised nationally and the others are very easily accessible.
The Railway Man Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 That cry of "racist" because someone said we have more Asian fans now We clearly do have a load of glory hunters now, the amount of people on my facebook timeline who supportes other teams or were laughing at us years ago now checking in at the King Power every week or kitted out in LCFC merchandise now is a bit embarrassing. Don't like it personally (main reason I like to buy my Dad and Grandad a ticket for christmas as we have a tradition of doing it every year that unfortunately ends this season as I can't get them for them ) but that's what you get with success.
