If Mahrez was to go, Mirralas from Everton would be a decent replacement.

Vardy cannot be replaced. Its one of those situations as with Bale at Spurs. It doesnt really matter how much money you get because their contribution to the team you cant put a value on. We'd have the money to buy many quality players, but he's unique.

I know we're all ecstatic about Vardy's form this season, but he's been so lethal because Ranieri has deployed him as our main striker. The system and the combination of players have made us and Vardy so good. As someone on the Beeb tweeted, "20 goals in 63 championship games, 5 in 34 games in his first BPL season, now equalling RVNs record. Who'd have thought it"?

We might never experience the like of the record-breaking form he's in (obviously), but finding an able replacement, should he leave, will surely have been at the top of the scouting agenda ever since the run in last season.

Matt Ritchie for Mahrez. For Vardy, don't really know, but we could give Chris Martin a go (different player of course) + play Kram or Okazaki off him

No thankyou. Not bad players but not even comparable.

I'm not one to be dramatic but if we "replaced" vardy with austin I will kill myself

lol

Doubt Vardy would leave, Mahrez is going to be pure guess work since only those close to him knows how he feels playing here.

Generally if you are happy and getting a nice wage you are loathe to throw that away for just a few more quid, if there are issues then who knows.

Isn't that what Shinji was bought for?

As for Mahrez it's not that there aren't players good enough to replace him out there - there are, but the issue is getting players of his quality to come to a side which hasn't played European football for 15 years.

We've got to hold onto both in January.

Im trying to get my head around suggesting Matt Richie as a quality replacement for Mahrez. Holy cow.

I have trust in our scouting department, they've done us proud so far on the whole.

Look at Kante, other than those that play Football Manager and die hard French football followers would never have heard of him until we were linked with him and what a signing he's turned out to be.

I'm sure they have their eyes on replacements already should either have a desire to leave anytime soon.

Keep the faith is as relevant to them as it was to the team.

I can see Mahrez leaving next summer but we will get a hefty fee for him with him having a long contract. I don't think Vardy will leave, he suits the way we play and I think if he went to a 'top team' he would end up either on the bench or on the wing like he does for England. If he went to spurs they would still put kane as the main striker. If he went to Liverpool they would stil have Sturridge (when fit) as the main striker. Same could be said for all the other top teams, except maybe united who don't have any decent strikers. I hope for our sake and his sake he doesn't leave. If he gets picked for the euros he will have no need to leave as he'll know he can play for England if he continues to play for Leicester

If/when they leave will be a worse team than we are now but we should still have enough to be a mid table team and we'd all have taken that at the start of the season, and will do again next season.

Vardy and Mahrez to stay..

Continue to improve the team.

Ready for the champions league onslaught!

Laughable as all that might have seemed even at the halfway stage of last season I don't see why not.

People mocked the concept of James Hunt winning the F1 Championship with Lord Hesketh, boxer Joe Bugner going the distance with Muhammad Ali and even my hardly athletic missus beating the British Under 23 squash champion, but they all happened.

Leicester look a lot more promising than any of those things did on punditry notepaper but we all see, on a weekly basis, what that notepaper's really best for.

Go get it Leicester, and take Vardy, Mahrez and any of their team-mates with you, if they're up to the trip and want to be part of one of the most exciting stories in English football history. :scarf:

Think i said it in a previous thread, if they continue like this, we have 0 chance of holding on to them when the big boys come in, i highly doubt we would sell them in january unless a disgusting amount comes in for either but the summer i could see something happening with both, you only have to look at southampton to realise, if bigger clubs do come in you just cant hold onto them.

Yes, I remember how well it went for Rickie Lambert when he joined Liverpool.

Vardy and Mahrez.

When do we start planning? Would Austin and Carillo be good replacements? Will they even leave? I seriously hope they don't, especially Vardy at his age.

Sorry to mention it, but it's just something I'm worried about now.

We're a rich club at the top of the Premier League, so now would be a good time to open contract negotiations and keep our star players. I don't get the feeling they are looking for a move, so we should be giving them the sort of money the big clubs would offer to put any speculation to bed.

If city get a top 4 spot, why would they want to leave.Their wages will increase, they are with a new top club.

Mahrez at his age can even give it another season if any doubt.

They could chose a so called top club, that falls behind city.If they became Jan-sales, then they would be stupid.

In summer I would have no ill feelings, if they went, but I would expect the club owners and Manager do their bes to keep them, ....words,potential of club and being part of

something special, can be just as important.

At this moment , we dont need this stress, lets just enjoy this moment in time, and see how far it can take us.

Every game this season, we must look at them now with no fear, or expectation,

we THE FANS have earnt the right to take this liberty after many years of begging

for points each week.

This season, the story, the fairytale is being acted out before us, we are not looking upwards, but down, but not into the abyss like before. We are kings of the mountain, for awhile,

unlike 6 other clubs we wont cry if it slips a little, we are not expecting astronomical

promises or be giving out musts.

But OMG if the players and our club can deliver the superburtives, and just shake fear

into some non-believers, until the EOS.

Those players have done their job, so I dont want to guess now, this moment ,at present, what may happen.

As fans this is our moment, dont miss it because you are worried about what might happen.

Enjoy Vardy and Mahrez now, ride the moment.

We should buy Waghorn.....

He scored more goals than Vardy in the championship, he works really hard and is banging them in for the sweaties at the moment.....

Nice try Martyn

We just can't enjoy the here and now us Leicester fans can we? lol

In all honesty Vardy is irreplaceable, Mahrez isn't but would be expensive to do so

I am enjoying it mate, and will carry on doing so, I just wondered what others thought.

I get the impression you're a 'glass half empty' kind of guy?

It varies lol at the moment I'm glass half full, I can't see Vardy or Mahrez leaving until the end of the season at least, and so I'll carry on enjoying the rise of Little Leicester City. Hopefully we do so well they won't have to leave!

What a depressing thread. Why would we be considering losing any of our players? If we do let our team get ripped apart like other clubs in the past, then football is officially dead. What's the point?

Posted

Firstly, The players are contracted to the Club for 4 years approx. So they're not going anywhere unless the Club say so.

It doesn't matter what the players say or want if the club won't let them go. Add to that why would they want to. Their playing in a good team now and have great cohesion with the rest of the players under a hugely experienced Manager and are loved by the Fans.

Who would want to give that up for a few more pounds and a lot more pressure.

The one mistake I hope the Club don't make is to give in to paying a lot more money and create a split in the camp. I've seen it happen so many times before with good sides. Remember they haven't won anything yet. They're still improving.

Time enough leaving when they have won something and their education is completed.
