americanfox Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 If short-term cover is desired, maybe a shout for Martin Montoya? Not part of Inter's plans, but he can do the job here and profiles similarly to Simpson at least (but with more pace, even if Montoya adds little going forward).
Kitchandro Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 I still don't think Simpson is all that, regardless of the fact he shouldn't really be playing for us anyway, especially when we're not in a desperate position where we need to make morally questionable team selections like Coventry once did with Marlon King. He's not as shit as he was last season, not nearly in fact, but he's still one of the weakest players in our starting 11. No surprise the Chelsea goal came from his side along with a few other breaks in the second half.
Kitchandro Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Happy with Simpson at the moment. Put the effort in and that's all that matters. He clearly regrets his mistakes from the past. Really because all I've seen him do is pretend he's innocent.
ALC Fox Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 This might sound quite ridiculous but it might be worth monitoring the Serge Aurier vs. Gregory van der Weil situation at PSG. It seems that van der Weil is currently preferred at right-back but Aurier clearly has lots of ability too and has been praised for his Champions League performances. At 27, van der Weil is entering his prime. Aurier is clearly his successor, but at 22 he may just be old enough to grow frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities. Likewise, if Aurier goes on to force van der Weil out of the team, van der Weil will not settle for a place on the bench. IF we do get top 4 (that's IF!) then signing one of these would strengthen the side considerably. Depending on how we progress as a club, signing either player could be realistic either during the coming summer or the summer after.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Again...I take my hat off to Simpson. I thought he'd be our weak link at the back. But he's been anything but. The formation has helped this. Simply getting our defenders to defend. And Simpson (as I said at the start) is a better full back than RDL. Simpson has done fine.

Jimmy Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Kyle Naughton seems to have been dropped recently by Swansea, would like us to sign him again

Jimmy Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Top team buying a player from a bottom three team who doesn't even play!!? he was playing until Monk got sacked, Huth couldn't get a game for Stoke either btw, we should never have bothered signing him I suppose
Soar Fox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 he was playing until Monk got sacked, Huth couldn't get a game for Stoke either btw, we should never have bothered signing him I suppose So he's part of a defence that is 3rd bottom in the league. No thanks.
Jimmy Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 So he's part of a defence that is 3rd bottom in the league. No thanks. you realise their defence is the least of their problems, if a player is good enough it doesn't matter where the team that he plays for is in the league
Jimmy Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Kieran Trippier. should have gone for him in the summer, Spurs won't sell though
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 should have gone for him in the summer, Spurs won't sell though First team football might persuade the lad too! Spurs already have 3 good right backs in Walker, Trippier & Yedlin plus Dier can play there too so If the money's right I think Tottenham will sell.

gurru991 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 It's about having more than one choice ... We need a top class right back to challenge for the position
MPH Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Wih schlupp out I wouldn't mind signing a utility type of player that can play rb/lb. Yes. Definitely need a right back who can cover left back and left wing....
Steven Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Yes. Definitely need a right back who can cover left back and left wing.... ... and scores goals as well.
