BenTheFox Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Some have suggested that we should go for a new right-back despite Simpson's improvement in form. Supposedly Debuchy wants out of Arsenal and is open to a move to another English club. Would he be someone that you'd welcome to the club or do you think we should stick with Simpson? If not, who is it you'd like to see linked with the club? I personally think that Simpson is doing a fine job at the moment, but if we can strengthen further in that position then I'm all for it.
kingcarr21 Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Think Simpson has done a great job for us. Only position i would like to strengthen is the number 10 position and possibly a goalkeeper
Fox92 Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 You could easily say we could improve every position. It's never-ending really. Simpson has done very well since he replaced De Laet. I think he's better than De Laet too.
Gerard Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Simpson is doing just fine. Obviously, just like any player, if we can get in a significant improvement that fits our criteria then fine. The only position I believe that needs sorting in the first XI ASAP is the No10 role, everyone else is at they very least adequate.
Captain... Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 I liked Debuchy at Newcastle, but his career has stalled badly at Arsenal with those injuries. Whether he could improve on Simpson or De Laet I don't know, but I would welcome him if he signed, because that would mean he has been approved by both Walsh and Claudio and I trust their judgement.
Tim'llFixIt Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 simpson has being doing a damn good job ever since joining the starting line up, it just took a wile for some people to realise because they couldn't stand the guy, i for one dont care what he is doing as long as he is defending well and he most certainly well is at the moment
Guest Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 I liked Debuchy at Newcastle, but his career has stalled badly at Arsenal with those injuries. It would be interesting to see if that's something our sport science and medical team could sort out. Arsenal has issues with injuries that must go beyond rotten luck or fragile players, so it might not be as big of a risk as it seems. Maybe we could make good business out of buying 'broken' players on the cheap and fixing them up.
TrentFox Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 What is the fixation with the right back role? Do we really have a "situation" ? We've conceded one goal in three games and are top of the league. We have a perfectly adequate second option and a perfectly adequate third option whilst the second option recuperates. We're Leicester city. Until two months ago, many people's favourites to get relegated. Who would you expect to find at right back? Could we improve.? Undoubtedly. A "situation". Hardly.

Well considering at the start of the season almost everybody was suggesting that we need a right-back, I think it's worth revisiting to see if people are still of this opinion and if they are how they'd go about improving it. Did I suggest for one second that we have a major problem in that position? In fact I've praised Simpson no end for his performances since coming back into the side.
Rasmic123 Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 i'd still be looking to sign a right back though, competition for places is a good thing, especially with ranieri keeping faith with certain players, even if they have one or two bad games. If we did get a right back, i doubt he would come straight into the team
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Hardly conceded a goal from open play with Simpson in. Don't fix what's not broken.
AKCJ Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Simpson has been faultless this season While I think he's been a vast improvement on De Laet, that is stretching the truth quite a bit.
Vicki Vixen Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Simpson has been faultless this season Rondon's goal was Simpson's responsibility. He failed to make a challenge on his man for Southampton's 2nd goal when the 2nd cross came in, leading to van Dijk's goal. He also was lucky not to concede 1 or even 2 penalties against West Ham in the cup due to reckless challenges. Simpson has clearly been an improvement on RDL defensively, but to suggest he had been faultless is madness.
Freesolo Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 While I think he's been a vast improvement on De Laet, that is stretching the truth quite a bit. De Laet put our whole defence on edge IMO Simpson has settled it down simply because he knows how to defend

Thats sick, you have an issue, all defenders make mistakes, Vardy blew 3 shots over the bar,4 by the post, both he and Mahrez have failed to see the better pass, oh then 5 times not controlled the ball correctly, then DD farted...

Calm down mate. I was responding to a post which described Simpson as faultless.

That is literally the exact point he was making.
fuchsntf Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Calm down mate. I was responding to a post which described Simpson as faultless.sorry I thought you said fartless A few games, gone why shouldnt he turn out to be the man.Plus Claudio has changed the set up somehow, because our defenders are no longer needing e-mail to communicate. They have tightened up, Fuchs and yes Simpson deserves some credit. I bet even RDL might turn out to be positive suprise, under Claudio. Being a Vixen you should know a group of foxes, need a longer lead, and will skulk on a short leash.
Swiper Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Would this be a conversation if it weren't for Simpson's personal issues? He's been quite solid overall.
General Smuts Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Simpson has been faultless this season Not quite but the only reason this is even a discussion is because he is an utter scrotum of a human being and many don't want him on the books.
kingfox Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 We have looked much better with him in the side(And Fuchs). No need to change anything, unless he starts making individual errors.
benpicko Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Before he replaced de Laet I thought he'd be a disaster again but yeah Simpson's done basically nothing wrong
