lcfcbobby Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Personally I think it is an absolute outrage that Roy 'the owl' Hodgson only picks players from so called fashionable football teams. If the England squad went on stats and players in form we would have 3 players in the England squad. Vardy ..... Drinkwater ..... Albrighton All 3 of these have been fantastic all season and only Vardy has been given a chance and that's not even in his natural position. The fact that were amongst the top teams in the league ant playing consistent football Hodgson still will pick players that are either not performing for there club or not even starting for there club. The problem I think is that Hodgson is scared that he will get a lot of stick off the national press if he does not pick these so called star players. What does everyone else think? I would love to hear your opinion on the matter!!!
Frank43 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 No worries. Let's win the League first; then they can join the squad. Maybe Nigel will be England manager by then...
HoustonFox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Have I missed something? Has a squad been announced recently?
mozartfox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Personally I think it is an absolute outrage that Roy 'the owl' Hodgson only picks players from so called fashionable football teams. Not strictly true - No Sheep or Trees players in the squad either
EnglishOxide Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Have I missed something? Has a squad been announced recently? No I'm all for having a moan at Hodgson but let's wait for his next squad announcement, aye? Albrighton and Drinkwater did miss out in the last one, but that's only one selection
nnfox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Iwas thinking about this the other day. Honestly, I'm not sure Roy believes that football exists outside the big 6. It is ridiculous. He has to pick Vardy now because he has too but whilst DD and MA deserve a call up, I would be very surprised to see them included. There is realistically more chance that Nick Powell will get a call up because A. He gets paid by Man U and B. He has Champions League experience. I wonder how good England would be if the whole squad was selected from teams outside the big 6? It would be no worse than we have now and the players would play with a little more heart which is what I want to see as an England fan.
MooseBreath Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Hodgson is an FA politician not a football manager.
jaqo88 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 I would love it for Drinky and Albrighton to be called up alongside Vardy but feel that Roy wouldn't get the best out of them. Roy seems set of playing football entirely different to the way we do things at Leicester, If he introduced a counter-attacking system for England, then maybe, but players like Sterling and Rooney will always be chosen first due to their reputation more than their form or style of play
st albans fox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 I don't think MA is good enough and DD hasn't showed he can play the way Roy wants to play However, if we continue near the top and he stays in the team then he can't be ignored for the next friendlys
HighPeakFox Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Although I empathise with the OP's basic premise, I am actually quietly relieved that we get (largely) left alone.
Richard Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Drinkwater's been getting a lot of press recently, wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of a media outcry if Ryan Mason or equivalent is picked over him again
Jon the Hat Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Has Drinkwater been part of the U21 setup in the past? They seem to like picking players who know how things work.
Fox42 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Has Drinkwater been part of the U21 setup in the past? They seem to like picking players who know how things work.He played for the U19s
Tuna Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Seeing as though someone else brought it up, I couldn't resist the temptation.
Fox92 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Hodgson is a yes man, always has been a defensive manager and was/is never good enough to manage England.
kingcarr21 Posted 10 December 2015 Posted 10 December 2015 Why is this even a topic for discussing today? We went through all this when the last squad was announced. Very random to create a thread out of nowhere Or has Hodgson done or said something in the last 24 hours that ive missed?
