justfoxes Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Some papers are saying its a done deal but we all know what some journalists are like for scare mongering or just writing plain old crap! But I really do hope Walshy will stay with us and carry on to build us into a regular top 6 premier league side so one thing to say to Arseholenal is FOOK OFF !!
st albans fox Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 I'll ask him tomorrow as he is headed down at the end of the game if I'll see him against citeh I'm sure he will answer me ..........
MooseBreath Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Make's perfect sense. Our current position is considered as a fluke to everyone else other than those at the club and is therefore short-lived. Sometimes, money isn't the answer to everything because I'm sure we could match anything financially offered by Arsenal. However, as someone who has been at a club at the top, perhaps Walsh would like to do it again. Arsenal are Arsenal and regardless of our season so far, we have a long way to go before we're considered equal to them in terms of size. Being at big clubs might mean a lot to players and managers but beyond a certain point I doubt it means much to staff. For example I'm the Assistant Supervisor (fry section) at a small McDonalds and I love it. If they offered me a chance to go and work at a bigger McDonalds as like a normal crew worker then I wouldn't want to take it just because it's a 'bigger club'?
st albans fox Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 This is clearly the first stage of Nigel taking over from arsene!

My brother is a manager in some capacity at MacDonalds and he's just moved from the Clocktower branch back to a local one and he doesn't like it at all. Burgers and fries aside, a cousin of the wife is a professional football coach and while he's now at a less fashionable club that he used to be (moving with the manager), he's proud that he got to coach top players!

Len Finsbury Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 is your brother scouting better cattle though? I think he has a star saying so, yep.
st albans fox Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Sorry to piss on everybody's chips this morning but the pre match greetings between TWO of the back room staff ( inc Walsh) and an older member of the stadium staff was far too emotional to mean nowt. Hopeful that it's the old fella retiring or he had some terrible personal trauma but it probably won't be. anyway, on the bright side, the post match handshakes between Walsh and the players didn't look too final so I'm not completely downcast. If it does happen then it should be viewed as an opportunity to get even better staff in. The psyche of the club is already there.
Soar Fox Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 SW will be with us for a while then as Pearson is struggling to get a club.
EnglishOxide Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Pearson shouldn't be struggling to get a club. He either cannot work for 12 months as part of his contract with us, or he is turning down work. He's not the type of bloke to just go to the first place he can tbh. He would expect ambitious owners and an off field structure that he is suited to or is allowed to change.
Solihullfox Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 I suppose he doesn't say SW "will" leave, when NP gets a job, just more likely. It is a bit worrying that we have lost the Head of Technical Scouting twice in approx the last year , to Tottenham and now Arsenal. You can understand them wanting to go to bigger clubs but LCFC need to retain staff if we are to carry on growing and improving.
RizLCFC Posted 16 December 2015 Author Posted 16 December 2015 I wouldn't think they are difficult to replace though, not whilst Steve Walsh is here anyway.
Stevosevic Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 These technical scouts are numbers people aren't they? As opposed to the old school style scouts? Walsh is the main man here, if we have systems in place he'll find replacements for people to do the analyst work.
Foxymcoxy Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 I wouldn't think they are difficult to replace though, not whilst Steve Walsh is here anyway.Haha how can you possibly know that?
m4DD0gg Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Why on this earth would walsh leave to join pearson unless in the some what miracle event pearson takes over at a top 4 club (not including ourselves). Pearson is a championship manager.
Clever Fox Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Pearson is a top class Manager. If what he's done with our club hasn't convinced you nothing will. However being a top Manager doesn't make him a great Coach, but that's ok neither was Ferguson, or Clough, they used others to do that job. i'd say the reason Pearson is not going to another Club aside from any Contract issues is that he'll only go to a Club where he has complete control and rightly so. Good luck to him in the future wherever he ends up.
Babylon Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 SW will be with us for a while then as Pearson is struggling to get a club. He's struggling to get a club because Steve Walsh is still here and on good money. Unless someone offers them what we are then they will stay for a while. The noises from Reading and Fulham were that they just couldn't afford his backroom team.

Pearson is a championship manager. Except for the fact he got us up and kept us up, let alone setting up the sports science and scouting departments everyone raves about. As for Walsh, do you know what his input is now compared to under Pearson? He was more than just a scout and had a lot of input outside of that, including on match days sitting in the stands and communicating with the bench. Something I've not seen him do now. Do we know what his relationship is like with Ranieri, is there trust there, is he listened to when it comes to players as much? There could be any number of reasons he would rather link up with Pearson again, not everything is totally dictated by where you sit in the league.

That's all speculation though isn't it? I haven't seen anything to that effect from any credible source.

Babylon Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 That's all speculation though isn't it? I haven't seen anything to that effect from any credible source. Define credible? The stories originated from local newspapers close to Reading and Fulham, which their fans at the time seemed to deem credible from what I saw on their forums.
Gerard Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Just googled Ben Wrigglesworth, I'd imagine that our Head of Technical Scouting could be easily replaced? Surely all the algorithms are in place and computer guys are ten a penny?

Surely all the algorithms are in place and computer guys are ten a penny? Ben only just got promoted to replace the last bloke who buggered off to Spurs. So I'd imagine you can promote from within again if we wanted to.
