Voll Blau Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Regardless, we shouldn't really be hanging out with dodgy character like Richards. Stuff like this does actually make me feel a bit uneasy.
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Not really a non-story, though. Trestellar does look dodgy, and selling the rights and then getting them back--if we made a profit on such--does seem an offence. Obviously this fairly old piece of news wouldn't be front-page if we were 18th in the league, but then hello fame. Reminds me of the Cross Trading incident in Argentina, with UEFA allegedly involved. The thing is, why would the club be held responsible for dealings of a partner company?
AKCJ Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 If we get FFP problems then we should just sell tickets for 15k a pair. Won't take long to sort that out.
Carl the Llama Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Jesus effing christ. I'm in a bit of an interim period with work and housing so I'm not able to access internet and news much right now, needless to say I've been bricking it since this morning when my parents - who only really started paying attention to us recently - sent me texts about the dire news about Leicester's finances. They could have just stuck the word Trestellar in one of their texts and saved me a day of skidmarks. Smh.
ClaphamFox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 This article is somewhat reassuring: http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2016/4/11/11406994/leicester-city-probably-cheated-financial-fair-play-and-wont-get-in
TheLittleBigMan Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Here's an article from an NZ website. Kinda builds a wider picture of why fans should be worried. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/opinion/78972733/are-you-cheering-for-the-premier-league-foxes-of-leicester-city-or-bernie-sanders?

I don't see anything new in there that should worry us.

The Thais backed us with the cash, bought me a couple of beers and have provided the best season of my life so far. Billionaire owners are a mixed blessing. Randy Lerner or the Glasers anyone? The Thais made a couple of mistakes early on but have learned very quickly. They are sensible enough to take good advice. I am very happy for them to recoup a bit of money via merchandising. FFP is not going to spoil this party.
Babylon Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Why do these people not actually write the truth? Spending the extra money isn't the issue, it's trying to avoid the fine that is.

That reads in part like Socialist Worker, the poor oppressed masses etc.... The most annoying thing for me is that Conn and The Guardian have ripped this stuff from sites where this has been set out in some detail for months adding the odd quote and passing it off as some big exclusive. We may have bent the rules but I believe he's stealing a living.
katieakita Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 A non story, just as one argument in 5 years Tesco have spent well over £500 million in advertising the brand and think what King Power's involvement with Leicester has cost. Football is one if not the biggest global sport and just how far has the little old Leicester City and King Power story reached. The King Power brand has reached audiences it would never have dreamed of, try and put a value on that.
HighPeakFox Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 The wider point about the rich generally taking over anything popular is, I rather fear, true. The devil is in the detail, but nothing would surprise me.
Dodgy Bob Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 The wider point about the rich generally taking over anything popular is, I rather fear, true. The devil is in the detail, but nothing would surprise me. Anything as popular as a football club is going to be very valuable so that does limit ownership to people who have a lot of money, so long as fan groups aren't motivated/organised enough to buy and run the club themselves. I think we can safely file that 'stuff' article under 'deliberately provocative bullshit'. The journalist usually covers rugby, so he might also be one of those odd rugby fans who are really militant in their dislike of football.
