foxfanazer Posted 21 December 2015 Author Posted 21 December 2015 And Pearson wanted to sell Vardy back to Sheffield Wednesday... good one
Oxfordfox83 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 If we hadn't come back from two goals against Villa would we be having the same kind of season? I put that result down as the moment we realised we could do anything with hard work. Does anyone agree or think it 'clicked' at another time? You could argue its all continued momentum from last seasons great escape For the record, I agree that this game was definitive. It turned us from being scrappy never-say-die-ers into a team that always expects to get something from games. Somehow, the nature of the fight back destroyed Tim and galvanised us even further. The third goal (3 foot nothing loanee leaping and knocking himself unconscious to get something on the ball) was exhilarating, an amazing relief and a vindication of the all-attack attitude that has served us so well. Who knows, if we'd lost that we might have reverted to defensive and the story would be so different...
Babylon Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 The click was the West Ham game with the atmosphere and the performance. But tentative steps had been made months earlier as I thought we started improving just before Christmas and with us playing well on boxing day against spurs and then having a mini run of wins after that. I think we sowed the seeds around that time.
Out Foxed Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Otto Rehhagel made a career of it - he won the Bundesliga with newly promoted and massively unfancied Kaiserslautern and Werder Bremen sides and then won the Euros with Greece! I remember seeing his Kaiserslautern side of the mid-90s a couple of times - very similar to us in many ways. Incredibly energetic counter-attacking side who just couldn't stop winning and confounding everyone. yep kaiserslauten would be the closest to what we're doing at the moment
Foxhateram Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Apologies, but I do enjoy a good oxymoron in the morning Just because it's been debated debated doesn't mean it's been solved.
NewEnglandFox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 The West Brom game. I knew Vardy was going to score when he had the ball at the halfway line.
whoareyaaa Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 West Brom away last season was when it clicked. First half, we were dreadful. We went in 2-1 down and looking like a side all but relegated. I remember standing in the queue for a drink at half time with nearly all the chat amongst the masses, based on 'Pearson out'. Seriously, nearly everywhere you turned, the comments were about how he'd had long enough, we weren't going to stay up etc etc. THEN..he made a change. I can't recollect exactly what he did, but I think King replaced Ulloa and we pushed the full backs up. It worked..Vardy got the winner near the end, we went mad and the rest was history. For me, it was that afternoon that you could discern a real hope amongst our fans..and that genuinely came with 45 minutes of football. For me, that Vardy goal was, and always will be, priceless. I would say West Brom away as well, the game was the turning point for sure even though we had been playing well all season, losing by 1 goal due to our own errors the amount of goals we conceded last season due to player errors was just to much especially in this league 1 mistake and thats it. Another turning point in my eyes is the defence at the moment Morgan has been a different player this season along with Kasper much improved from last season same goes for Simpson, de leat is prone to errors and costs us goals so with Simpson steppig up and with Fuchs coming in the back 5 are now solid along with Huth who we only had for half of the season. That has been key and with the additions of Kante and Marhez and Vardy tearing it up, I can't see anybody stopping us. top 2 for sure only Arsenal can stop us.
urban.spaceman Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 Wycombe Wanderers in the League Cup in our promotion year. The curse was finally lifted - 12 years of misery was the price of losing to them in the FA Cup but we broke that by beating them and we've been phenomenal since. Yes I have thought this through.
UPinCarolina Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 The minute a young Leicester player in a far away land turned his phone to record. This made me , hard.
Loggy88 Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 The turning point for me in this calendar year was West Brom away when Vardy scored in the last minute, the belief just seemed to spread through the team and we haven't looked back since. Nigel did a great job doing the great escape and Claudio deserves enormous credit for continuing the great form and also taking us up a level in terms of our incredible league position. He was clever in the fact he hasn't changed much and he is obviously someone the players love playing for.
Captain... Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 This made me , hard. The emoji didn't appear immediately for me on that post, so I thought you were turned on for a minute...
Countryfox Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 The emoji didn't appear immediately for me on that post, so I thought you were turned on for a minute... Think the lad with the phone was hard Cap'n ! Life changing moment .... do I keep filming or drop the phone and join in ....... good choice ... top of the league !
kushiro Posted 22 December 2015 Posted 22 December 2015 There was a delicious two minute spell in the Villa game that really changed the course of the season for so many people. That's when the attacking character of this team fell into place. Inler had started the game ahead of Kante and Villa were 2-0 up with twenty minutes left. Their fans were ole-ing as the pass count for one of their moves climbed into double figures. A few moments later, Kante (who'd only just come on as sub) wins possession and we get a corner. You know what happened from that corner. In the final 20 minutes, Villa barely strung two passes together, overwhelmed by the effervescent Kante (thanks for that phrase, Thracian) and the energy suddenly surging through the whole team. A huge turning point for Villa, for Sherwood, for Inler, for Kante and for the whole team. Vardy, Mahrez and Kante were named in the 'team of the season so far' this week, but, as many on here have commented, Kante barely figured in the first five games. It was here that it all clicked.
