Blanchflower78 Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Whilst City seemingly scour Europe for the next rising star it just highlights how position alone cant win the day. Everton who by most opinions have struggled this season sitting further down the league are at the point of writing poised to sign Niasse from the Russian league for 13.5m. The same league that City have been alledgedly haggling with for days now over a player with almost exact credentials. Quick, strong, prem clus sniffing.... but it appears that Everton for all their struggles are walking away with a deal imminently whereas City currently leading the way are cat n mouse in negotiation and possibly being forced to look at 20m plus. It leaves you wondering if its time in the top flight as opposed to position that carries the greater sway? Look at Stoke, consistent yet never lofty heights with Bojan, Shaqiri and Affelay on board - and Stoke is nowhere near the desired London location that many imports favour. It may be a massive dose of reality we all need as we wake up to news of Dwight Gayle possibly a target but certainly being in that top 4 is not guaranteeing any cream of Europe converting quickly. I hope im wrong of course....

The fact we're struggling to agree a fee has everything to do with the selling club and nothing to do with our position or the players desire to come here.
Guest ttfn Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Have you been studying this transfer closely then? Everton have probably been in negotiations for weeks - I wouldn't mind betting there was a similar length thread to the Musa one on the Everton forum before he signed. Football transfers take time. These are multi-million pound assets being transferred, which would take time and effort to negotiate if they were machines let alone people with families and feelings.
johnny the fox Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 yeah.. we have been shight at signing good players.. dear oh dear..
katieakita Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 We keep ouer cards close to our chests it will not be us making these claims but clubs and agents trying to raise the price and salaries to clinch deals. Would happily put our scouting and recruitment teams up with any in the Premier league, selling clubs know we have money as do their agents they will hold out for as much as possible. We have been linked with plenty and have no doubt more than just plan A, lets just see how things plan out, when we changed managers in the summer the club asked us to trust them and so far the club has exceeded our wildest dreams so lets let them carry on
Blanchflower78 Posted 31 January 2016 Author Posted 31 January 2016 No-one doubts the clubs stunning season. The point being many on FT seem to suggest given this form and position anyone and everyone should be joining the ride. The reality is established clubs in lower positions may still conduct and attract over what some perceive as our given right to take a star player based on our short term massive achievement.
Foxymcoxy Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Every single window people complain about is not being able to close our deals and then we end up with class recruits. The uproar on here when it took a couple of weeks to get a CM was unreal, but we come out of it with Kante for peanuts. Trust the club.
Finn Claw II Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Haven't we signed an Argentinean legend, the Swiss captain and the Austrian captain in the last year or so? This is without the stability that an Everton or Stoke have of being establishe PL sides. On top of that we have signed a highly regarded young talent (kramaric - albeit it hasn't worked out so far). We may well end up signing Remy, a French international or the Nigerian captain. We are doing alright.

Surely you have read foxestalk enough to know a transfer window brings out all the idiotic posters and some normally good poster suffer from a mid season blip. I'd take Gayle happily, actually I prefer him to Remy. I don't think it's that important to buy a striker that is better than what we have, just someone who can slot in and give Vardy a rest when needed and not rock the boat.
katieakita Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 You have a point Jordan Veretout chose Villa over us because apparently their history and being an established premiership side made them a better option than us. Maybe if he had just said they offered more money he would now look like a proper bellend. Claudio has managed clubs far bigger than us with far more pedigree so when he comes in and is actually staggered about how well set up the club is people start to take notice. We cannot make anybody come here if they don't want to but if they come and look into the club see the infrastructure look at the ambition of owners and then say no so be it. I am not ITK or a journalist but it can not be so hard surely for the media to do their homework on LCFC and our owners you would think. We have the best owners and infrastructure of any club in the league, the owners have extreme wealth yet people seem to ignore that, if people do not cannot see that is up to them. Apparently we are lucky and that is why we are top of the league, Personally think the main reason for our "luck" is if you pick a premier league team of the season you have Vardy,Mahrez, Kante and possible shouts in Drinkwater,Fuchs and Morgan and with the rest of the starting 11 pretty much consistently being above average that makes us really lucky. the two may be linked though.

Jimothy Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Okazaki is Japan captain too. Makoto Habese is.
MC Prussian Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 I don't see the point in this thread other than it being something of a bit of an overreaction to our alleged lack of transfer business this January. This transfer window is notoriously bad from a buyer's perspective and we've done well to use it with Amartey coming in already. We're adding defensive-oriented midfielders to strengthen our defensive side of play, to make us a side that is harder to break down whilst still relying on our counterattack prowess. I wouldn't be so worried. The real deals, particularly in the striker department, will happen this summer.
Webbo Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 We've signed 3 players this window already. Does anyone seriously think we're going to sign every player we're linked with?
Littletoe Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Our new signing will be announced tomorrow, don't worry
WesMorganGod Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 I have full trust in the club,. they have pulled of some amazing deals in the last 12 months. To be honest I would be perfectly happy if we signed no one, singing one player won't make much difference now, we are a very together team, thats the reason we do so well. If we sign someone who is top class then thats cool, but its not desperate.
Gerard Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Only 15 games left this season people. If we don't get anyone in it won't be a disaster. We've added Gray and Amartey this window and lost Kramaric. The squad is stronger than what it was a month a go and this squad hasn't done too bad so far this season.
LC/FC Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Makoto Habese is. My bad. Meant to say all time top scorer rather than captain...
Jimothy Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 My bad. Meant to say all time top scorer rather than captain... He's not even that He's the top scorer of their current players. Can't remember who is top scorer but he's about 30 behind.
LC/FC Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 He's not even that He's the top scorer of their current players. Can't remember who is top scorer but he's about 30 behind. Wow. I'm having a shocker! Note to self: don't try remembering the facts from a signing 6 months ago at your age
Jordan Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Just before the transfer window opened, the prevailing thought across the national media was that Leicester would have a difficult time, and would possibly have to worry about how to replace their star players. While media/pundits/what have you have gotten a lot wrong when it comes to Leicester City, in relative terms, this transfer window can be considered a success, and I have confidence that if Leicester do bring in a striker tomorrow, he will be of good enough quality.
Wymsey Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 If we did win the PL and given around £100m (including TV deals, etc) to spend, would you spend it on a few players or only spend on one or two. For example, If we won it under Huth and Morgan (who're getting on), would you spend some money to replace them with younger equally-talented players or trust them to carry on?
davieG Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 According to the BBC and other sites they're not looking any further forward than us Everton have made an approach for Lokomotiv Moscow forward Oumar Niasse and hope to tie up a £13.5m deal before Monday's transfer deadline.
WesMorganGod Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 To be honest the MOST important thing that happened this window was who we kept, no one took Vardy or Mahrez.. a lot of clubs want them but nothing has happened and thats million times more important that singing anyone. If one of them had gone then I don't care who we signed, we would be going backwards badly. So I'm happy..
