Great Business Ethic

The best thing to come out of the transfer window, besides three excellent prospects now with us, was the message, loud and clear that, that no-one can take the p1ss when it comes to transfer prices and wage demands.

We have a pay structure, which at some stage may need adjusting, but it is set and will not be broken just to facilitate some greedy bastard who is only in it for the money.

What a great message to our current squad, what a boost they will get from that knowledge. How good it is for our club to be in control and not players or agents.

I think we have an excellent business model fo on-going success.

Wouldn't signing a top striker to make a difference and making a statement of intent to our rivals...And dare I say it maybe taking us to the title be an even better business model for long term success?

If we now fall short at the final hurdle forever in our history we will be and everyone else in the country will say ...what if...

I feel we really missed the boat here and I hope it does not cost us.

Disappointed we didn't add a striker, but happy the way our club is being run.

We now have a young talented squad, and will add quality in the summer, when prices suit us, not the team selling.

I am happy with the way the window went. We have the exact squad that got us where we are and have added an exciting winger and an exciting mid/defender. None of our big players were effected and we can continue where we left off.

Yes we only have three strikers but should one get injured Dodoo on the bench or gray and Mahrez taking a striker role is hardly a disaster.

We had a choice and we made a stand, I like it.

Also noticed that in other threads lots claiming 'we'll never be in this position again'

Nothing like confidence in the team that we can actually build on this season and become a regular European challenger. Why can't people just be positive.

We weren't linked with a top striker though. Remy and Diouf are hardly prolific Musa is unproven and would be carrying a massive fee on his head. The business model will have to be looked at for next season as there is no way this years would be to finish top 6!

I think we can become regular European challengers but a season like this doesn't come along very often where so many of the usual dominant pack are either out of it or slip up so often

When people talk about "never being in this position again" they are talking about being 3 points clear of 2nd and 10 points clear of 5th with just 15 games to go, not just being around the top 6 again challenging.

If we do have a wage cap it's surely going to go or be dramatically raised in the next few months when Mahrez and Vardy get new contracts.

If we want to keep Mahrez, Vardy Kante etc I'm pretty sure we'll be having to smash through the 100k barrier in the summer, even more so with the bags of money coming into the Premier League.

Which would make if even stranger if we did balk at Remy on 90k a week, he wouldn't even be the highest earner in a few months.

What if we'd signed a £23mill striker and fell short wouldn't you get well that was a waste.

Whether we achieve (subjective) our aim or not it doesn't mean we would have made it or not with the extra players.

It's like choosing which route to take on a journey just because the one chosen proves difficult it doesn't mean the other option would have been better.

But short term what impact is it going to have on the squad to bring in a mercenary like Remy on around twice as much as our highest earners? (Most likely to sit on the bench)

We don't, we can't and we will never know what the impact bringing in any of these players could have had. We made our stand and it comes with positives and negatives, but it doesn't come with any guarantees.

We are going into our final 15 games with the same players that got us 3 points clear at the top and a couple of sensible yet exciting additions, with the teams around us also not significantly strengthening, yet having significantly more games than us and more question marks over their best 11. We know our best 11, could it be better? Of course, but it could also be a hell of a lot worse.

A very important few months though.

If his wage were so much of a concern for those few months I'm sure we would be delighted to sit down and agree on a new contract immediately for Kante, Vardy and Mahrez to reflect their true worth.

Totally agree. The owners clearly have a long-term plan, and even if this season is going a bit nuts, there's no reason to think we can't build and become consistent challengers. No point getting screwed in the short-term when you're building something for the future.

Do you really want that distraction going on during this period?

If we don't make the top 4 down to a striker injury how will you look at this window? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and sometimes I think you have took take a chance its not like the owners cant afford it, also like others have already said to keep our top players they are going to need new contracts.

Maybe we will still bring in someone on loan but I really think we needed another striker and the scouting team really should have been in early for somebody instead on a last minute desperate bid on 4 or 5 players

That's in a few months, in the vital months between Vardy, Mahrez and Kante (although I get the feeling he'd care least) would probably wonder why in the season they've became first and third(?) top scorers, top interceptor and tackler, and combined fired us to top of the table, are being paid less than some bif time Charlie who feels because he's been paid more at Chelsea where he's under-performed he deserves that here too.

I have every faith in the strikers and attacking players we have, Ulloa picked up against Stoke and Okazaki has had a real upturn in form over the last month with a few goals to boot.

I wanted exactly the same as what our manager wanted, a extremely talented addition up front to add some firepower to what looked up until Stoke a very tired and lethargic strikeforce.

If some in the squad were going to kick off at that prospect because they were being paid higher then I see no reason not to engage them, people said the same when we were top of the Championship about contract negotiations and it made no difference, the agents handle all this these days anyway.

Maybe so, they seem a good bunch with their heads screwed on, so you would hope it wouldn't effect them, but it does happen and was attributed by some ITKs as being the reason for the melt down in the Championship with the disparity between Pearson's and Sven's signings wages.

There is also the effect of a Remy on the dressing room. He has been involved in some of the most toxic dressing rooms in the last few years, QPR  were a shambles and the Chelsea players downed tools earlier this season to get rid of Mourinho.

I'm just not fussed we missed out on Remy, Musa seems a prospect but there is the bedding in period, others didn't happen but could have had the same problem. It is not like we were playing hardball over someone amazing guaranteed to win the title for us. I just find it bizarre that the players that got us into this position are now not trusted to finish the job.

Edit: As for tired and lethargic, the hard part is done, we only have 15 games left with plenty of rest so hopefully it will be 15 games of all out energy and enthusiasm.

At around this time last season I was saying something if we are still in touch when we play spuds we will stay up.

Yes I and one or two others that kept the faith got ripped for it.

So I will state now as long as we are in touch after the next 3 games we will make CL at least.

We'll see at the end of the year just how shrewd this business was. Personally if we were prepared to offer up just shy of £20million for Musa and our manager wanted him badly it seems absolutely mental not to just put another 3-4 million pounds on the fee to get him considering the position we are actually in.

I think its bad business by Rudkin and he should go.  Hes been shite for a while now. Get someone in who will make the deals happen

If Vardy gets injured our top 4 spot will be gone
