Great Business Ethic

Wouldn't signing a top striker to make a difference and making a statement of intent to our rivals...And dare I say it maybe taking us to the title be an even better business model for long term success?

If we now fall short at the final hurdle forever in our history we will be and everyone else in the country will say ...what if...

I feel we really missed the boat here and I hope it does not cost us.

I would say, making a statement, is that we have told our rivals,

we are up for it !!! We are happy with what we have got, this squad have got

the best from you all, we are top,

now try and stop us..!

Another thing, whats saying you got what you wanted and city brought somebody in,

and they just turned out replacing Kramarics lonely spot...

You yelp and complain, like a few last night, but you offer nothing concrete ,

just excuses of future unknowns.

If we dont win the league, if we dont make the top 4, I just hope you aint dumb enough

to blame the failure in the January transfer market.Especially if we dont get injuries.

Please note..!! with the exception of W.Ham buys, no avg team has equalled our season,

look how many strikers and midfield players costing 10s millions have looked like

they could change, their new clubs fortune, so far citys Kante and fuchs are the only real successes, plus we refound Simpson that changed the status quo.

plus we did try!!!! and none of us know, who else we chased behind the scenes, but they were not interested..

If Vardy is a casualty, there would be no suitable replacement, we really do

have something unique in what he as given us.I doubt he could of delivered

in another set up.

Shinji might be the nearest we have to a player who is simply a rash a pest

and persistence like Vardy, but not his ball control at pace..

If Ulloa had a great season, he still wouldnt have given us that 'something extra'

So real cover we would never have.

Mahrez, we have simular players, but also not in his class.

This season Vardy Mahrez and Kante have clicked, that cant be copied..its as simple as that.

so a striker here or there, wouldnt add extra .

Its just a King Richard moment...

We'll see at the end of the year just how shrewd this business was. Personally if we were prepared to offer up just shy of £20million for Musa and our manager wanted him badly it seems absolutely mental not to just put another 3-4 million pounds on the fee to get him considering the position we are actually in.

I don't think it was as simple as that, they kept on upping and upping the price, and there was no indication that the player wanted to come, so even after agreeing the price it would have been a new set of negotiations with the player.

Basically CSKA didn't want him to go so made it as difficult as possible for us to buy him.

No...its just common business practice.

The club are not gonna have a single playing earning 2x that of the second highest earner, makes no sense.

You can guarantee the bedwetters who are crying because we didn't get a striker would be the most vociferous in complaining and demanding heads should roll if the panic buy was a flop.

It's a 15 game season and then we strengthen in the summer under better conditions.

We are certainly not in a better position in the summer than being ten points clear of 5th with 15 games to go!

Top players are still going to be reluctant to join us, even though we are top with 15 games to go. They like everybody else probably think we can't sustain it and don't want to join us and then us feck it up and finish 5th.

They'd rather wait, see if we qualify for Champions League and join us in the summer.

Disagree, guaranteed Champions League spot is better than possible champions league spot, more time to negotiate, no other distractions. Players more willing to move in the Summer and clubs more willing to sell.

Don't get me wrong this window hasn't been perfect and we could be in a stronger position, but we could also be in a much much worse  position, so I just don't understand the negativity.

Well we tried to get someone in and failed.

Would you honestly have preferred us to get someone in by paying way over the odds?

If Vardy doesn't get injured we'll be fine and if he does we're pretty much screwed anyway.

The one thing that has dawned on me this window is just because we're top of the league it doesn't make us an attractive club. Reputations take more than half a season to build up.

If Levante were top of La Liga top players wouldn't be flocking to join them and that's how we're perceived out of England.

You do know it's not guaranteed yet? lol

I know but it will be in the summer

...and if it is not, then we won't be trying to attract the same calibre of player. We don't want to do a Leeds and spunk the champions league money up the wall before we have qualified.

We really haven't guaranteed Champions League football yet, I can't believe anyone could be that naive at the start of Feb with a 10 point gap, fourth place doesn't guarantee it either, it means we get a qualifier and possibly one against anotherdecent side.

We will not have a better chance of winning the league in the summer than we do now, that is beyond doubt. The bookmakers have us currently at 8/1 to win the Premier League, we'll be absolute minimum triple that come the summer, probably a lot more.

Got to say I don't know how people have concluded the Champions League is wrapped up. Just because we're competing for the title doesn't mean second prize is in the bag.

I'm not even convinced we can be sure about the Europa League yet!

If you know my posting history on here you'll know I'm one of the ones who usually demands fiscal discipline.

However given the position we are in this season for the first time in my life I can totally understand if we had paid over the odds for a couple of players to gives us some more quality for our title run given the exceptional circumstances of this season, even more so when our manager stated that this was the position he felt we could do with strengthening.

I think its bad business by Rudkin and he should go. Hes been shite for a while now. Get someone in who will make the deals happen

If Vardy gets injured our top 4 spot will be gone

Maybe he is struggling with the agents of all these better players. They're top player agents for a reason, and that is getting as much money as possible. It might be easier in the Summer if we secure European football.

Come on people just had a Derby fan  moaning they have spent £25 million and are not going to make the play offs :D what have we spent £30 million ish. :claudio:

We may have already won it once by then................

Vardy's projected new deal doesn't suggest much of a wage cap! lol

Would have been very unhappy this morning though.

I know we haven't but in the Summer when it has either been guaranteed or not we will be in a better position to bring players in, at the moment it is all possibility and a player holding out for a top club will look at the table and say yes they are top, but they could easily slip away and then they end up at a mid table club.

I know what you are saying that this is probably our best chance at winning the league, but do you really think that Musa or Remy or anyone else we were linked to make it significantly more likely, our main concern at the moment is if Vardy gets injured, or Kante or Mahrez or Schmeichel or Huth or Fuchs....

Basically we have one chance at winning the league and that is if everything goes our way for the next 4 months.

The players we were linked at bringing in were either untried in the Prem, so god knows how they will cope and now is not the time to be experimenting, or generally considered not good enough (Gayle) or just doesn't fit our system or wage structure (Remy).

There are very few players out there that would be a guaranteed positive impact to our squad (Shane Long would have been high on my list of targets, but would he come to be Vardy's number 2) and with so few games left and very little margin for error I can see the logic on erring on the side of caution, especially if Kramaric has a recall option, and trusting the players we have rather than risking upsetting the whole thing with a misguided expensive panic buy.

i dont think there a wage cap on people who out perform and deserve a rise.... and rightly so.

It would have been business sense to get a couple of extra strikers.

But it's not happened and it doesn't seem to have been for the want of trying or being prepared to spend money but that the various people we most wanted couldn't be secured for various reasons and/or on the terms that all parties were prepared to agree.

At this time I don't think anyone knows the detail of it. Or whether anyone's to blame even if it matters. The window's closed, it's all about learning what we can from what happened and looking forward now.

I don't think anyone could be displeased about the signings we have made, so it's not all bad. In fact the potential upside seems considerable.

Fascinating business trading in people!

If his wage were so much of a concern for those few months I'm sure we would be delighted to sit down and agree on a new contract immediately for Kante, Vardy and Mahrez to reflect their true worth.

Do you really want that distraction going on during this period?

No...its just common business practice.
