I think he signed a new four year contract at the end of the promotion season. It was Mahrez who signed a new contract at the beginning of this season. Both are probably approaching £40,000/week and I wouldn't have a problem with either of them doubling that. No one else in the squad is worth that kind of money (apart from maybe Kante) so I doubt anyone will kick up much of a fuss.

You are quite right and I have to admire our owners' foresight, he is now only one goal short of Suarez and Rondaldo in the European leagues!

Give Mahrez and Kante on new contracts as well.

Mahrez signed a new one in the week before this season started.  It ends at the same time as the new Vardy deal (2019).

That was some smart business by us that's for sure: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33789418

Kante also signed a 4 year deal when he signed (til 2019): http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/leicester-city-sign-ngolo-kante-2589633.aspx

I agree that we may need to make sure they are both still happy with their current deals, but I don't think there is any need to panic.

Best of luck to the lad. He's earned it by setting a cracking 100% per cent example evry time he takes the field and so many times when a good few other centre-forwards would have cried off injured.

The bloke is an inspiration and has worked himself sweatless to meet every challenge he's faced since coming here from non-League to emerge as the "England's Number One" we so proudly sing about.

Look at those headlines - how much would it cost us to buy positive publicity like that and how far and how often would those pictures have been posted to different parts of the world?

What an incentive he provides for any aspiring footballer in proving that with the right application you can lift yourself from nowhere to anywhere.

As others have mentioned let's just hope we don't get all cavalier and start wasting good money on people who aren't fit to mend the marks made by Vardy's supercharged boots.

We've built our team on the rocks of good value and I hope we keep doing that because some of the dross that's been purchased for mind-boggling fees by some clubs only emphasising how badly investments in players can go wrong.

I don't begrudge top dollar for anyone who earns it and it's a pleasure to look at a Leicester team and have to admit that - good day or bad - everyone seems to give their best effort week in, week out.

In fact I'd imagine there's a few others in line for a salary adjustment. And I don't suppose Vardy's lifting of the bar will do them any harm at all! lol

Deserves his new contract fair play to him. We as fans should be toasting the Sheff Wed Chairman who didn't want him for five million when he was offered to them by Pearson.

That's an utter bullshite story

I'm not a Pearson fan infact I couldn't stand his personality but he didn't offer Vardy to anyone !

Southampton and west brom offered more than 5m and turned away

That story is tripe

That's a bargain for the PL top scorer. If you think he left for Chelsea for 30m he'd probably be on 100k a week minimum

Now due tie down Mahrez and Kante on the same wack with 49m buyouts and everybody's happy

Has Vardy a buy out ?

Anyone know ?

Tripe really? I have a Sheff wed board member as a very close friend and he assures me it's not tripe? Shakespeare convinced him to stay at Leicester. Believe what you want it's your right but don't always assume you are right.

To give Pearson some credit the story about Vardy wanting to jack it all in cos he never thought he would make the grade is also true. Pearson convinced him he did have the ability. However, he never thought he would make it in the premier league, neither did a lot of our fans.

It's very weird how some people feel confident enough to dismiss the story out of hand, without having any inside knowledge themselves, just because they don't want to believe it's true.

In what world would vardy who had already been capped by England before the summer move down a division after finishing so strongly in the premier league. For that reason I think it's complete and utter rubbish. Whether we accepted a 5 million pound bid or not is another matter, again something I don't believe we would but IMO is far more feasible that vardy ever entertaining the option of dropping down a league

This. I imagine they mean last January? There's no way he'd move to Sheffield after becoming an international.

Agreed.

January would have been a possibility as we wasn't in favour. But no way in a million years for me was it in the summer
