Vardy close to signing new contract

It's ok for you to assume things then.

Do the differences in the posts really need pointing out to you?

£40K a week is not a huge amount at all at this level. Vardy is also a particularly valuable player and his wage increase will be at the level the interest in him demands.

£40k a week is above the average premier league wage, for a player having never kicked a ball in this league before... that's a massive amount if true. Vardy is only NOW are highly valuable player, it was only last season people were happy to bomb him out after some sketchy performances.

There's every reason to think that with the huge TV deal and increased exposure this season that our finances are just fine.

The new TV deal does not kick in until next season. Where have I said the finances are not fine exactly? I took issue with someone saying "we're as rich as owt", having seemingly not actually looked at any detail into what the income and outgoings might be.

Fantastic news!!!!, thats all this window was about to makesure we keep Vardy and Mahrez. Great news. I am very happy, I hope he stays for the rest of his career.

I don't see Vardy wanting to go anywhere that quickly but this doesn't make that much difference really, given that he already had over 2 years left to run.

Good to see the intent from the club and that Vardy wants to stay. We all know how quick that can change though.

Contracts don't mean anything. Vardy still had time to run and an extension doesn't make much of a difference. Sends a sign out more than anything.

I'd love to know why he was given a 40k a week contract before even kicking a ball in the premier league.

If those figures are true our wage bill is going to be HUGE!

Also makes a mockery of our supposed wage cap which was £30,000 max. Which I always thought was bollocks.

Explains why we wanted to keep a bit of money back. For those still moaning about lack of signings, would you prefer Remy or more security of our best player staying?

Don't follow your logic.

If I remember correctly, Vardy signed a new contract at the beginning of this season, so I guess he was on a lot less last season.  I also suspect that our contracts include a fair bit of incentive/ bonus payments.

This does a few things IMO, it secures Jamie and removes a reason is his mind as to why he may want to leave, now he is earning serious money here.

Also it paves the way for any potential big money moves in the summer, and removes that issue of the new boy coming in earning massive wages when no one else does. Well now a well loved club star is already up there so that taboo has already gone.

We are living in a world where Stoke are banging out 18m signings and we are on course for some huge TV and maybe CL money as well.

Our owners have invested heavily whenever needed.

If we have concerns about our finances I would be asking some serious questions.

Has this season not taught people anything? Stoke my arse, just embarrassed them 3-0. Man Utd have spent over £250 million, getting the idea yet or shall I give more examples? We're not here at the top by luck (another clue)! Just perhaps it's not the amount of money you spend, it's what you spend it on at the right time and not being like a pissed up alchi in an off license with £50 to spend. The club are going the right way in every way. Thank goodness some of the posters on here aren't in charge of the club's finances. I bet the club even employ specialist people in the know to find players that are not only talented but also ones that might fit in with the one's we've already got. Perhaps they even call them scouts and they do a bit more than look at the Internet and Utube clips?

Being offered £80k (inc Bonuses) p/week according to Sky Sources. Can't believe that.

That's a bargain for the PL top scorer. If you think he left for Chelsea for 30m he'd probably be on 100k a week minimum

Now due tie down Mahrez and Kante on the same wack with 49m buyouts and everybody's happy

When signed from fleetwood his agent had in his contract that if vardy plays for England he gets X amount as a salary, the club probably signed it thinking 'that's ambitious' and 'won't happen',

With that happening I assume that is why his salary was signifantly increased in the first place!

I think he signed a new four year contract at the end of the promotion season. It was Mahrez who signed a new contract at the beginning of this season. Both are probably approaching £40,000/week and I wouldn't have a problem with either of them doubling that. No one else in the squad is worth that kind of money (apart from maybe Kante) so I doubt anyone will kick up much of a fuss.

Happy for Vardy to sign a better deal, and to warn off potential bids in the summer.

He has deserved it this season.

My only concern, is we don't start throwing big & long contracts at players getting near 30.

And ending up with another Gallagher situation where we can't move them on once their form may drop in a year or so.

Foxes talk, the only place where a record holder and England international can be compared to Paul Gallagher.

So you don't know what our finances are then.

Our owners have repeatedly said they want the club to stand on its own two feet, we've not had any "heavy" investment above what we earn for a few years now. They seem to be running a much more prudent ship, compared to when we chucked wads of cash at a load of old shit a few years ago.

If we're paying Vardy, a player who only stepped out of non league a few seasons before 40k a week (£2m a year excluding bonuses) before he kicked a ball in the premier league, then I think it's safe to assume the others are on at least the same currently. Add that up over a whole squad, add in £20-£30m on players each season for the last two, add in bonuses for staying up etc etc etc... and I think it's fair to assume we're not currently running at a giant profit.

Potential champions league money and future premier league money is just that. We don't have it yet... we also don't know if we've already spent some of it considering we've spent a fair bit more this season than we did last already. We'll also spend a huge amount of it trying to keep our best players.

We've spent about £3m less than stoke this season by the way on transfers.

Are you constantly on the blob bitch
