Is our lack of games really beneficial?

Definitely beneficial. Certainly when Tottenham and Arsenal will have 2 games a week for a period.

Sky sports showed the distance the top 4 will travel in the remainder of Feb. Ours is 0 miles whilst others are racking up thousands. It's not just the fatigue either, it's having time to solely focus on the next opponent.

100% agree with this.

As for the 'having time to think about it' side of things, I would hope it would fire the players up as to how cruel the Arse'nal game ended, add that to the fact that after the Arse'nal defeat at the KP we went on to get 27 points in the next 12 games. Do that again and we'll almost certainly be there. Norwich is what the focus should be about, not moaping around feeling sorry for themselves or worrying about other clubs. Let them worry about us! Arse'nal were clearly frightened of us and still will be.

I would like to see Amartey replace Simpson on the right-back.

I haven't been too impressed with simpson the whole season. especially that back pass 3 weeks ago,

We have a tough week in nine days playing Sat-Tue Sat.

Looking at it positively the players can fully recover for a week and then get back to the usual week's training after that and fully concentrate their energy resources for the next five matches before they can have another recuperating break.

Can't see how having an FA Cup tie to play this weekend would harm us. Plus it's a wonderful competition to be in, of course.

probably wouldnt harm us but its still better to be out of it.

save the cup runs for teams in mid table with nothing else to play for.

Yikes.

I mean, I'm looking forward to seeing Amartey too, but cos he's a new player who looks exciting. But Simpson has exceeded everyone's expectations this year, been an obvious defensive improvement and been a key reason why Mahrez's wandering has cost us fewer goals this year. Given a free choice I wouldn't disrupt our back four, but it will be good to see Amartey play...

Even if you love your job, a week away every now and again does a world of good. Not a holiday but just a little break to spend time with family and friends.

I think they will come back physically refreshed and mentally prepared to take on the last part of the season.

Personally thought we had noticeably more energy when playing Liverpool after a similar (slightly shorter) break.

Any benefit/detriment we will get would surely be negligible compared to the hammering the legs of the Arsenal/Spurs/United players will be getting. Good thing as far as I'm concerned, even it's just a mental break.

Same as why England struggle in tournaments!

Cause players don't get as much rest as those like Germany etc...

Think the rest will do is good and will notice in the latter stages of the season.

Hope Chelsea go all the way in chips league, cause they will rest players final game of season ready for champs final!

Could be a fairy tale ending for us

Sounds a bit contradictory.

a 90 minute game played by professional players - harmless

probably - risk of injuries, suspensions

better to be out of it - no risk of injuries, suspensions

Well there's never NO risk of injuries, just less risk. Plenty of injuries happen in training or just doing day to day things.

For example...

Imagine being married to Rachel..

You could easily pull something!!

It depends really. Sometimes a run of games in quick succession can help you create a momentum of play. The confidence and belief that can come from that should not be underestimated. If other teams do well in their midweek games, we could end up wishing we had some Tuesday games to help us build momentum too.

In terms of physical recovery yes it's beneficial! Only negative is players have longer to overthink things and become nervous looking at table! Hopefully not the case and they carry on with the same fearless attitude.

Don't know about the players, but I'm bored now with the break.

Feels like forever since Arsenal, and still ages till the next game, how will I cope in the summer lol

On the point of Chelsea in the Champions League, I hope they do get to the final for the reason you said and then lose the final so they don't replace the team who finishes 4th in next years tournament. I hope we don't finish 4th but can you imagine that; 4th and then demoted to Europa League.

Still think we can make top 3.
