Vardinio'sCat Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Apparently CR briefly popped over to Madrid, meeting with Butregeno at Madrid Airport. I guess this might have been after the Real match, and I'm just wondering what my esteemed fellow posters thought? It is in the second half of this report. http://www.realmadrid.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=562628 Mahrez swap with CR7 perhaps?
Danizen Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 What's the perception of Ranieri in Spain after he was sacked by Valencia? Is he seen as a joke figure the way he was in England before he took over at Leicester? I guess it's not beyond the realms of possibility that at some stage they could offer him the job there (that is what the article is getting at). Real's fans love counter attacking football and Perez loves having the flavour of the month at his club.
Larry_LCFC Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 I'd take mahrez ta. Cristiano big ego Ronaldo can stay where is!
Vardinio'sCat Posted 22 February 2016 Author Posted 22 February 2016 Can't be Ronaldo, we couldn't afford the hair gel!

I don't follow spanish footy that closely, so I'm in the hands of those, like yourself, who know a bit more.
Jaspa Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Why has it got to be the most paranoid explanation The man has been in the business all his working life and has probably made a few friends along the way, whos to say hes not just dropping in to share a meal or have a gossip about what they know in the football world. It doesnt mean were offing Mahrez and Ranieri is working himself a way to get 25% of the transfer fee or something ffs
Danizen Posted 22 February 2016 Posted 22 February 2016 Zidane is being written off already? I don't follow spanish footy that closely, so I'm in the hands of those, like yourself, who know a bit more. I never said he was being written off. He's a legend there and they would obviously love to build a dynasty with him but...you know...this is Real Madrid.

How about loan possibilities for next season? As the chicken man says, it may well be nothing. He may have relatives there, or spanish friends to see, I really have no idea, which is why I thought it worthy of a topic.

Why would Ranieri be seen as a joke in England, Greece spell aside?
Danizen Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Ranieri seen as a joke figure in England? Why would Ranieri be seen as a joke in England, Greece spell aside? You didn't notice all the snide remarks when he got the job here? Or the almost universal opinion that he would be sacked and us relegated. I'm not saying I agree with it but his reputation was in the toilet in this country.
Carl the Llama Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Ranieri seen as a joke figure in England? Why would Ranieri be seen as a joke in England, Greece spell aside? That's what a lot of us were asking when he got appointed to loud guffaws in the self-righteous media.
Sionnach gorm Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Oddly enough the only ones that saw him as a joke was the British press. In Spain the press holds him in pretty high regard, so do the people. He took quite a few teams up (generally making them overachievers). Everyone except here has known that...that is why he keeps getting jobs. They were hoping that in Greece, unfortunately you can't make a parochial squad into anything. I suspect now he will be approached again from quite a few sides after reminding everyone what he can do. Fortunately he does believe in honour and will be here till his contract ends or is sacked.
VLC86 Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Relax people he had to go over there to book our accommodation for next years champions league.
Buzzell Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 He's just prepping for when we're in the Champions League. Asking about Ronaldo's, Bale's and Modric's avaliablilty.
Babylon Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Ranieri seen as a joke figure in England? Do you not pay attention to football at all?
Strokes Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Do you not pay attention to football at all? Clearly you don't pay attention to Donut if you have to ask
Babylon Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Clearly you don't pay attention to Donut if you have to ask I probably shouldn't have put a question mark as I wasn't really asking a question.
Loggy88 Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Really can't see Claudio managing Madrid, they have Zidane who is a legend so this makes no sense in the slightest.
yorkie1999 Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Really can't see Claudio managing Madrid, they have Zidane who is a legend so this makes no sense in the slightest. Plus he's 64 years old, got no pressure, holidays when he wants, plenty of money and has a team that could win the premier league. What more could a bloke want.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 You didn't notice all the snide remarks when he got the job here? Or the almost universal opinion that he would be sacked and us relegated. I'm not saying I agree with it but his reputation was in the toilet in this country. I saw people saying it was a bad appointment, but I had no idea why, or why he would be thought of as a joke figure. I remember his tenure at Chelsea, and he did an excellent job. Maybe some journalist / pundit stated that he was a joke and all of a sudden that was it ....everyone jumped on the bandwagon and all of a sudden it's 'gospel'. There were never any reasons for CR to be branded that way. Hopefully he will have the last laugh.
johnny the fox Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 nothing wrong in Real looking for advice off us...
Vardinio'sCat Posted 23 February 2016 Author Posted 23 February 2016 S'all tripe apparently! http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/leicester-city-boss-in-spanish-tripe-transfer-rumours-generated
stevebrock Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 I was elated the day Pearson was sacked and the day he was appointed the manager of LCFC
Donut Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Do you not pay attention to football at all? Clearly you don't pay attention to Donut if you have to ask Course i pay attention. Ill state again, why would Ranieri be seen as a joke? What has he done in his career aside from Greece that would get him the tag of a "joke" One result as Greece manager undoes a career of successful club management?
