hackneyfox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 He's not wrong though is he. Most managers come into a mess, deadwood players, low morale, losing mentality, unhappy players. Claudio was fortunate that he came into a well ran club with good foundations already put in place. He's obviously changed things tactically but players have already said he came in and didn't need massive changes. It's a credit to Claudio that he saw this and carried on the good work whereas other managers would come in and want to make changes instantly. He's done a bit more than 'carried on the good work'.

Two managers that "didn't have to do much", Peter Taylor and David Moyes...and look how those turned out

WesMorganGod Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 ffs You explain yourself well, he landed a perfect job, he is very lucky to be in his position, and we are fortunate to have a experienced manager like him too and he hasn't had a ego to try and change everything. I will never be fooled into thinking he is God, he has never won big trophies before and he had some amazing squads and failed. Sorry but it works both ways.. he knows he is very lucky to landed a club like us and we are lucky we got a manager who didn't have a ego and change everything. perfect.
Soar Fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 He's done a bit more than 'carried on the good work'. Apart from Schmeichel and Kante (who Pearson & his staff identified) everyone one of them players was signed during Pearson's tenure. The back room staff are the same as when Pearson was here barring a couple that Ranieri bought in. Yes Claudio has added things of course he has, he's took us to a level that I very much doubt NP could of but let's not make out he came into a club in crisis. That's the last thing I'm going to say on the matter as I don't want to turn this into a Ranieri v Pearson debate.

The perfect job was when Jose took over Chelsea the first time.
Zola Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 The perfect job? Ffs. The perfect job was when Jose took over Chelsea the first time. This is 100% correct and it comes form Chelsea supporter. Moyes and Klopp had inherited way better team. You guys should be over the moon that you are going to be even in UEFA. Anything else is a extra bonus. You do not have enough depth and players on disposal are limited for some other, different style of game. So, just enjoy while it last. I think Spurs will take it and Man City and Arsenal will fight with you for other places.
biggs Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 A Spurs fan said to me early in the season to enjoy it while it lasts. Still enjoying it and see only positives for us through to final whistle v Chelsea I think Chelsea fans would be quite okay with Leicester (if its meant to be) lifting the trophy there. Ranieri is ready to build this club up. He's a good man

Foxhateram Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 What he doesn't tell you is, he is retiring at the end of the season as winning the league with Leicester is literally the upmost he can do here.
mozartfox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Good for him. Will this be the second person to retire at Leicester? Conrad being the first 13 years ago.
Xen Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 What he doesn't tell you is, he is retiring at the end of next season as winning the champions league with Leicester is literally the upmost he can do here. Fixed
David Hankey Posted 19 March 2016 Author Posted 19 March 2016 Say what you like about Ranieri, Pearson never got the squad playing like this. We're at a different, higher level now with the team playing high octane performances game after game and that is a credit to no-one else other than the Italian.
erlee Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Another clean sheet - Claudio must be sick of watering at the tables - delivering Pizzas for the boys
weller54 Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Another clean sheet - Claudio must be sick of watering at the tables - delivering Pizzas for the boys Drinkwatering?
Rincewind Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I think he may finish here whatever happens. We could have a bad season in a year or so and he will be got rid of. He may be too old for another club. I hope he doesn't go though. It will be a nice reward to let him finish here regardless.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 If (and I know it's a big if) we win the title he can have whatever he wants for me as he has been nothing short of miraculous Long live King Claudio
KingKante Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I thought Pearson was the best thing since sliced bread when he got us up, but this guy is different gravy! You can retire here claudio, get the chairman to build you a retirement home on site if it means we'll be lifting the trophy!
STUHILL Posted 23 March 2016 Posted 23 March 2016 Main thing I liked about Pearson, was having the stability of having the same manager for a number of seasons and not having the stupid stress of sacking a manager every 15 games. I know we have to be successful for stability but would be great if Ranieri can be with us for years to come. He is such a likeable guy and feel proud having him as our manager. He is obviously a very talented manager too as this season is no fluke and I fully expect to be well clear of relegation again next season with him in charge. Would like to see us establish ourselves as a top 10 team over the next few seasons. Many will think that is unambitious but even the most optimistic fans would be stretched to think we could stay a top 4 team in the short to mid-term. Hopefully the owners keep faith in him, even if we can't replicate this kind of dream season again. Target next year should be top 8 in my opinion but obviously we set 40 points as this one and are now 1st, so I now know that setting targets doesn't often mean much
ScouseFox Posted 23 March 2016 Posted 23 March 2016 Apart from saying the transfer window was closed before we signed someone new, with such hardly being a stinging critique imo, what else has he said? that we weren't trying to win the league
Sionnach gorm Posted 23 March 2016 Posted 23 March 2016 I am so glad he's chosen to stay for a while. There are very few managers with his acumen. Historically he keeps you out of relegation fights. He's saved teams from relegation. He's come in second against teams, with large player advantage, with only two or three points difference. He's tactically very astute. He's the whole package. He may not be the very best in the world (and it's not to say he isn't either), but Leicester is very fortunate to have him and he knows that he's very fortunate to have Leicester. He is very appreciated by the club and he returns that appreciation back. I think three more years of him and Leicester will be a perennial top six for years to come.
