filbertboy Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 ROB DRAPER REPORTING FROM SELHURST PARK: When Claudio Ranieri walked along the touchline to take his seat before this match, something odd occurred; something which appeared to sum up the mood of the football nation. Crystal Palace fans in the Main Stand began to applaud. Ranieri acknowledged them and several then rose to their feet to clap the opposition manager as he made his way to the bench. Ranieri has no ties to Palace; there is no deep well of affection for him here. It was partly a throwback to old-fashioned gallantry. Yet it represented something more significant. Leicester City have become the champion of any club outside the big five. That says it all ! I love this Guy !! I love this team !!
Clever Fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Great credit to Palace Fans. They understand what a great job he's doing and showing him the respect he deserves.
Thracian Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Doesn't surprise me but it's heartwarming nonetheless. We've done a service to football in giving the underdog hope.
biggs Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Nice change to hearing what Spurs fans have to say. Good on them. Hope we'd give the same respect back if the shoe was on the other foot.
Max Power Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Why wouldn't you applaud this top class human being?
simFox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Nice change to hearing what Spurs fans have to say. Good on them. Hope we'd give the same respect back if the shoe was on the other foot. Think they're more bothered about arsenal creeping up on them, which is more likely.
TrentFox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Sums up what I have found on my travels all over UK this season with work. We are virtually everyone's second team. I don't think it is overstating it to say we have brought football back to the fans.
Izzy Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 I don't think it is overstating it to say we have brought football back to the fans. "Leicester City - the team that brought football back to the fans"....would be a great film title to this season
foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 "Leicester City - the team that brought football back to the fans"....would be a great film title to this season The movie will happen and it will be a Hollywood production, Americans love the pure underdog story...
nigelbee Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Over the last few seasons I've thought Palace fans have been class and a credit to football. Last season I sat in the away end at King Power (with an Eagles supporting colleague who got me a ticket). We lost that day and looked doomed however the Palace fans did not rub it in, they were too occupied supporting their team vocally. The rest is history of course. Up the Foxes!!

I agree palace fans are grounded and are able to recognise when something special is happening ... I would do the same if it was them at the top
filbertboy Posted 19 March 2016 Author Posted 19 March 2016 any links to this please?? Rob Draper is a reporter for the Daily Mail - it is his mail on line report for todays game. He also refers to the fact that the Palace fans waited after the match to applaud the city team off the pitch. Fair play to the Palace ! Hope they get a break and find a win soon.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Well done Palace fans, fair play. Overall their a well supported club.
Vlad the Fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 We should remember that the real fans are in the stands and not get too angered by reactionary Internet comments of a minority of fans. Well done palace.
Corky Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Good work, Ranieri has a lot of admirers around the game, it's great to see.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Good work, Ranieri has a lot of admirers around the game, it's great to see. He has been harshly treated in the past... for me at every club he has moved them forward and built the foundations for them to go on to achieve success, unfortunately he was rarely part of that due to certain owners who didn't trust he could take them to a league title... he deserves this he really does
