z-layrex Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Americans are funny but you can't knock their enthusiasm. If everyone at the KP had the mentality of an American (singing decent songs), the place would be thunderous. I can't be the only one who finds that so bad it should be in a youtube cringe compilation.
melrose Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 The general rule here is, you will think this cringe worthy way to support the team is OK if you are under 25 Over 30 you should see this American crap for what it is and be more traditional with your singing & support

As usual they are left with NOTHING. ****ing baby boomers.
Foxxed Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 WES! WES! WES! WES! Haha, the 'YES' chant is lame, but I would absolutely love to see that.

Len Finsbury Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Better that 'everywhere we go' when we're at HOME!
Sionnach gorm Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I'd rather set myself on fire tbh. I knew all this Buddhist stuff would end up being a negative. Now we have our fans starting to threaten self-immolation!
americanfox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN That's funny you say that because I'm from San Diego and that's SDSU's big chant (even though it originated at Navy and went through Utah State). Leave that one stateside.
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fotmpIa0-EQ This would look mental
Voll Blau Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 The Kop needs everyone standing before it can start to think about bouncing.
Renart Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 FIGHT AND WIN! I am still laughing at that and I stopped watching it 10 minutes ago, closed down my computer and thought about leaving the house! Decided to come back on here to watch it again. FIGHT AND WIN!
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I have to be honest, I quite like it..... And I'm 27.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 What's the point of cheerleaders if the cheers are gonna be led by a hairy guy?
Detroit Blues Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 So I went to MSU (the school from the video), so I'd just like to give some background to why we did this since you all seem so appalled by it. The "hairy" guy from the video is a (american) football player that plays for the school. In a game against our archrivals (michigan), he did this celebration after we scored a touchdown. He's a team captain and a big WWE fan, so the cheer just took off. http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2013/11/2/5059328/michigan-state-lineman-touchdown-dance-squat (This is him doing it after the touchdown) (The chant is a little better when 76,000 people do it). So the original video is him leading the student section in the same cheer at a basketball game later that year. Hope that helps.

It's a cracker isn't it. That was a few years ago when Sounders were only a few years old. As I said previously you can't knock them for trying, recently they've got a lot more "serious", they put on decent tifo with big winched banners, they get 1000s together to march to home games and having flags and banners waving all game behind the South goal. I think people are slowly realising that American fans culture is actually quite decent and has come a long long way in 10 years or so!

Well, people are appalled because it's just an American thing, not because of the particular background or anything. College fandom is probably the closest thing that comes to how fans support clubs in football, but for the former it's more enthusiasm and energy than the latter's panache.
