Finn Claw II Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Gain two points on Spurs in the next two, I don't care how. Being able to lose two and still be top would be pretty crushing to Spurs as the games tick down
Clever Fox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Spurs also Chelsea in their game after Utd I think. They could potentially lose all three. The next two are huge for us because they are Winnable whereas Spurs are not. So we're still in a very strong position. Onwards and upwards we go.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 If us and Spurs had both played and won at 3pm on Sat, we'd still be 5 points clear and everyone would be happy. They win today and 'reduce' the gap and people get twitchy! It's in our hands.

Rincewind Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Spurs have their harder games before us but I am not too worried about the last three games now because we have shown we deserve to be where we are. If Spurs overtake us then they deserve to. They are the only other consistent side.
Livid Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 After today's collapse by Liverpool I expect Klopp to give them a serious arse kicking and have them up for the visit of Spurs. The only concern is the international break allowing for today's pain to mellow somewhat. Man Utd at Spurs depends if United are in the mood or not.
Len Finsbury Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 People are beginning to panic over the Spurs result and there's no real need. We're actually in a better position than we were last week. The gap remains the same yet there's one game less to play. We've learned throughout this season that the next game is always the most important. Let's worry about Southampton before looking at Sunderland. As far as we're concerned, we don;t need to win all of our remaining games, we merely have to equal the results of Spurs. It was mentioned earlier today by a pundit that they'd rather be Spurs chasing Leicester because then the pressure is on us but I disagree, I'd rather have the points in the bag than rely on someone to slip up. With each point that Spurs drop, they'll be worried that the gap will get larger seeing as we play after them for the next few games. You tell me that's not pressure on their players!

I tend to agree I saw that quote by Ian Wright on Twitter and thought WTF? You'd rather be 5 points behind. Spurs are a very good side, some of their fans are something else. I think we just got ahead of ourselves regarding Bournemouth, Spurs put 5 past them away from home, they're safe now and it looks like they're on the beach already.
DangerFox Posted 20 March 2016 Author Posted 20 March 2016 Liverpool have 2 games in hand is another interesting point, so both them and Man U are fighting to get in the Champs League. Hopefully they can help us gain more points on Spurs.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 wrighty was just trying to put them under more pressure.... pochatini will need to show his cojones to win at anfield... if they do that credit to them.
Benguin Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I respect your opinion, but surely this has fvck all to do with your opinion. If we equal or do better than Spurs, we're going to win the League, because we are already five points ahead. Or have I missed something? The thread is entitled "next two games.... massive!" I assumed that the original posters purpose of the thread was to have a discussion about how big the next two games are. I decided to join in on the thread with my grounded view that we need to equal or better what spurs do.
GaelicFox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Can't see Spurs beating the Scousers. If we can beat Southampton next week I can see us for the first time being more points clear than there are games left. That was last night ? 8 clear with 7 to go ?

I assumed that the original posters purpose of the thread was to have a discussion about how big the next two games are. I decided to join in on the thread with my grounded view that we need to equal or better what spurs do. Just to clarify why I started the thread. I jus wanted to highlight ours and Spurs next 2 games and who we have to play. Nothing about that deciding titles etc. At the end of the day, we're talking about 6 points of a maximum 21 points here. I just feel it would be great to win our two games and for Spurs to drop again and allow us a bit more of a cushion. Equally the thread isn't about people panicking just because Spurs won reducing the gap back to 5 points. At the end of the day, we are 5 points ahead! Unbelievable! Whatever happens from this point onwards, it's the best I've seen since being born a lifelong City supporter in 1982! Come on you foxes and let us fans pull together like we have been and support them at this amazing time!

I don't think he was belittling your right to have an opinion, it was more that you were stating the bloody obvious rather than merely your opinion.
byepearson29 Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I agree with CR. One game at a time. Brilliant win yesterday and we could do no better than that. The day we are looking at other results and hoping others drop points shows some weakness on our part. Spurs will be hoping we drop points as they need to catch up. We just need to focus everything on getting 3 points against Saints.
Benguin Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I don't think he was belittling your right to have an opinion, it was more that you were stating the bloody obvious rather than merely your opinion. I'm not sure how you can avoid stating the obvious? The thread is entitled "Next 2 games.....massive!" Erm well yeah obviously.....
ARM1968 Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I do hope Spurs lose their next 2. Perfectly possible. 4pts for us would be great. A 9pt lead with 5 games left would be delicious and perfectly possible. Unlikely though :-)
Len Finsbury Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 In my opinion we need to equal what Spurs do or better. I'm not sure how you can avoid stating the obvious? The thread is entitled "Next 2 games.....massive!" Erm well yeah obviously..... Let me explain this slowly for you. Everyone knows that 'we need to equal what Spurs do or better', no one is saying that you were wrong to say that. What he is saying is that this is not your opinion, it's a fact. Opinion: noun 1. a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
Gerard Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I just assume Tottenham will win all their games. So with that in mind: Must Win Southampton (h) Sunderland (a) West Ham (h) Swansea (h) Everton (h) Draw Man Utd (a) Chelsea(a) Every time Spurs or us drop points the list can be revised.
whoareyaaa Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Spurs will bottle it in there next two they will drop points imo.

What he is saying is that this is not your opinion, it's a fact. Opinion: noun 1. a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Okay, let me break it down for you as clearly your ability to detect sarcasm is poor. sarcasm ˈsɑːkaz(ə)m/ noun noun: sarcasm; plural noun: sarcasms the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. "she didn't like the note of sarcasm in his voice" synonyms: derision, mockery, ridicule, satire, irony, scorn, sneering, scoffing, gibing, taunting; More The original post stated that the next two games are massive. Me being a cheeky little devil decided to cite a phrase that us Brits rather enjoy: "No shit Sherlock" I decided however that this would be more comedic and better put across by also stating the obvious. I coined, in my opinion, the rather delightful: "In my opinion we need to equal what spurs do or better." The idea here is that with us being 5 points above spurs if we equal or better their performance then we will still be, as Benn puts it, "In the season of the Champions." Quintessentially I'm using irony by stating the obvious in a thread that is stating the obvious to convey a comedic twist. Unfortunately a few posters have misinterpreted or it has gone straight over the heads and for that I am regretful.
Heisenberg Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Think we'll get 4 points from the next 2 games and spurs will get 3
Captain... Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Gain two points on Spurs in the next two, I don't care how. Being able to lose two and still be top would be pretty crushing to Spurs as the games tick down That would be great, any increase in our lead would be amazing but we shouldn't fixate on Spurs, otherwise we are in danger of letting their results affect our focus. We just need to win 6 games let Spurs be distracted by our results not the other way round. Any dropped points by them are a bonus, but not needed.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 So is it only the next 2 games that are massive?
