davieG Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Sadly he didn't survive - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/105080-a-fellow-fox-died-tonight/page-2#entry3792391 'City fans are world's best': Son thanks Leicester faithful who helped dad after fatal heart attack By atroughton | Posted: March 31, 2016 A grieving son has paid tribute to the Leicester City fans who helped him after his father suffered a heart attack outside the King Power Stadium. Perminder Rupra has spoken out to thank the supporters who came to his aid after his 67-year-old father Jasbir collapsed following the home game against Newcastle United on March 14. Fans, including an off-duty police officer and a nurse, gave his father mouth to mouth resuscitation and CPR. Supporters also formed a protective cordon around Jasbir so the ambulance and paramedics could drive straight to him. Jasbir died in hospital on Sunday March 20 after his family had taken the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life-support machine. Season ticket holder Perminder, of South Knighton, Leicester, said his family owed the caring Foxes fans a huge debt. He said: "Leicester City fans proved on that night that they are the best in the world. "They all helped us out and gave us the best chance to save dad's life. "Their swift action enabled us to get the right treatment for dad as soon as possible and to get him to hospital quickly. "Those precious days we had with him while he was in hospital allowed all the family to come to see him to say our goodbyes." Perminder said that his father had been a Foxes fan after moving to Leicester from Uganda with his parents and seven siblings in 1972. He said the Newcastle game was the first time his father had ever been to watch Leicester City play. Perminder said: "My seven-year-old son Giaan has a season ticket but the night game was too late for him. "I persuaded dad to take his ticket and we went along. "Dad had the most amazing night. He could not believe how friendly everyone was. "We left with ten minutes to go as dad has trouble with his knees and can't walk too far. Jeevan, one of my brothers, was waiting near Freeman's Common to pick us up. "Even though we left early, we had seen that great overhead kick by Shinji Okazaki and dad was delighted to have seen that goal. "He was convinced Leicester are going to win the league. "Dad was so excited he did not stop banging those clappers they give out at the ground. "He had such a good time, he wanted to go along to another game as soon as he could." Perminder said doctors at Glenfield Hospital told the family that his father has suffered severe brain damage after the heart attack near a bus stop outside the Vauxhall Garage in Aylestone Road. He said: "There was no hope for him. His ventilator was switched off at 5pm on Sunday and he passed away at 5.55am the next day. "We don't want Leicester City to win the league for dad, we want them to win the title for their fans - without doubt the best supporters in the world." Jasbir leaves a wife Parmjit, three sons - Perminder, Jeevan and Ranjit- and four grandchildren, Giaan, Ajuni, Amari and Darshan. A funeral service was held at a gurdwara in Birmingham on March 24. Grantham Fox Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 A great, yet very sad story. No fan should go but never come back. R.I.P. Keep the blue flag flying up there buddy.

Steven Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 A great, yet very sad story. No fan should go but never come back. R.I.P. Keep the blue flag flying up there buddy. This. Very eloquent.
Alf Bentley Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 An emotional story - both for the sadness of the family and the caring response of passing fans. While the family will wish that Jasbir had lived much longer, hopefully they'll draw a little comfort from his enjoyment of his final hours.
Jattdogg Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Heart breaking story. Condolences to the family. Glad to see fans helping out. Rip jasbir
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Really sad story, especially seeing as that was the first game he had been to. Already talk of a 67th minute applause, I'd urge everyone not to take part, instead just go mental for the whole game and roar the lads over the time. That's the best way to honour someone's passing rather than a social media fad.Edit: This annoys me something rotten. The same account spreads the unconfirmed rumour that the poor bloke died on the day of the game, and are now trying to start of a minute's applause off. Call it petty but this has really pissed me off.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Very sad indeed Come on City let's do this for the fans
Gerard Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 It always hits home when I hear someone dying at a football match. It's shit that you can leave your house and never return just by going to watch your team. RIP
biggs Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Very sad indeed.....I'm so pleased your family were able to say their goodbye's. Truly heartbreaking......RIP
holyfox Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Really sad, yet in some strange way uplifting story. We all have to go one day and none of us know when it's going to to our time. Going out on a high, with your loved ones having shared the feeling of being part of the family of foxes at the KP is some way to go. Love that the rest of his family got to say their goodbyes thanks to those amazing fans who did their best for him. Rip and wishing the family the strength to get through this.
