Corky Posted 1 May 2016 Posted 1 May 2016 Given up for the night. I know the importance of it all but this is painful to watch.
kingfox Posted 1 May 2016 Author Posted 1 May 2016 Thank god for that, my head and eyes were starting to hurt.
The Bear Posted 1 May 2016 Posted 1 May 2016 Jesus wept Selby is such a dull spawny bastard. He keeps getting away with it when he starts playing crap. Mainly by grinding the other player out of any rhythm during those times. Utter shite to watch as well. Looks like a 10-3 advantage overnight but come on Ding!

Rincewind Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Did they play to the time in your post? Jesus! Yeah Selby potted a ball instead of playing a safety. Mind they were both missing a few pots.
EastAnglianFox Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Ridiculous amount of negativity and nastiness aimed at Mark Selby via social media / snooker forums, that even includes current and ex players. Would we feel the same if he wasnt a Leicester lad? I actually really enjoy the longer tactical frames but I guess it's just personal preference.

It just depends what you like to see, everyone slagging him off obviously prefer quick players who break build and make centuries. I enjoy tactical frames myself, at times its very compelling viewing; however with Selby against Ding yesterday and against Fu it did take the piss a bit.
purpleronnie Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Would we feel the same if he wasnt a Leicester lad? Yes..doesn't matter if he's from Leicester or not, I want Selby to win but he is a boring tedious player to watch. The amount of times he gets down for shots just to get up again, chalk his cue another 100 times then plays another safety...yawn...but it's effective.
ScouseFox Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 thought it was great. was gonna go bed when ding was breaking in that mammoth frame, wasn't arsed about him potting a few balls. that's boring to watch. pot a red. pot a routine black. i could do that. was never going to bed when it went to a safety battle getting snookers in behind the colours etc. incredible skill involved in that.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 You need a mixture of frames, some clearances and then some tactical frames. How many times do you see players miss a ball when their opponent needs a snooker and it drags it out for another half hour. In the final frame last night ding kept getting the snookers but they were easy for selby to get out of.

Couldn't agree more Scouse! It's like he has a sick sense of humour and loves trolling the other players when he perhaps has a medium pot on to win the frame but then thinks nah mate, Im gonna fvck your head up for at least another 20 minutes, and then lays a top snooker. Think Ronnie got it spot on when he nicknamed him "the torturer"
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 What was strange yesterday was that Selby's safety positional play was exceptional, but his position from pots woeful. The problem both players seem to be having is making decisive one visit winning contributions.
Bert Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Whatever it takes to win. And that's what Selby does. He's not gonna go toe to toe with Ding, Ronnie, Trump when it comes to potting. He needs to slow their rhythm down.
purpleronnie Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Not liking the black shirt and black bow tie.......sorry I'm bored.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Not liking the black shirt and black bow tie.......sorry I'm bored. Do you think Ding has several versions of the same waistcoat or has he worn the same one all the way through (eeeewwwww!)?
purpleronnie Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Do you think Ding has several versions of the same waistcoat or has he worn the same one all the way through (eeeewwwww!)? Hope so. Pity they have to have that huge betfred logo stuck on, spoils the look. That's why I couldn't be a professional player...that and the lack of skill.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Maximum on here (early days mind) Edit: nope, forced to take a blue
Jimothy Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Selby 4 frames away. If he's quick enough he might get done before the Chelsea game finishes tonight.

Jimothy Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 He'll do well to get one frame in! Good point with the way they've been playing
