An Away Move Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 In case any one fancies submitting something - The Guardian want to know what it's like being a fan at this historic moment. They also want to know if it's affected Leicester in other ways.
Rocket-Ron Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 My head is so fukced that I nearly clicked a Guardian link
bovril Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 I get the feeling people don't really believe I'm a Leicester fan now when they meet me. There's always a look of scepticism in their eyes when I tell them who I support for the first time. My soft southern accent probably doesn't help.

I instantly said "yes, all my life!" like i had to somehow make that perfectly clear to make sure there was no "bandwagon fan" activity happening.

foxsake Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 My Arsenal-supporting mate has introduced me as a Leicester fan "but before they were good" a few times! Ha ha! Saves me a job I guess.
Twitcher Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 No my broad Yorkshire Leeds accent doesn't help but supported them since the mid seventies.

I instantly said "yes, all my life!" like i had to somehow make that perfectly clear to make sure there was no "bandwagon fan" activity happening. This happened to me in a bar in melbourne. Me and my girlfriend were wearing the attire and some bloke screams 'Oh they're coming out the woodwork now aint they'. i was fuming!
Robin JD Popley Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 "It know it may sound like a cliché, but it is an unreal feeling. We're 'little' Leicester, the perennial bridesmaid who is expected to stand in line, like the majority of the 92 professional clubs in this country. However, what we are on the cusp of achieving isn't only great for my club - Leicester City - but every single one of those underdogs, up and down the UK and elsewhere in the world. It's living proof that if you work hard at anything in life, you never know where it can take you and the catalyst for this? You've guessed it. Mr Ranieri. Again, someone who understands and appreciates the hard knocks of life but you grow by your failures much more than your successes. Then, and only then, when those achievements are fulfilled - can you truly appreciate the worth of them. That's what it feels like to be a Leicester City fan. Foxes Never Quit." (That's what I wrote).

Vacamion Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Those of you who are not in possession of a Leicester accent, come on, you must be able to do at least a bit of passable "Lestoh" to vouch for your credentials as a City fan. Even my missus, who is 100% Sweaty Sock, can manage a few sentences of East Mids patois to a level at which she could infiltrate.
HighPeakFox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 I sound fake saying Ooyah Byooteh and I was born and raised in Leicester. Sadly my parents spoke propah........
Guest Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 @@HighPeakFox I'm the same, born and raised in Leicester but never had the accent. Having lived in London now since 1999, I even say "Barth" and "Grars" now instead of "bath" and "grass"

I try, but then I mistakenly ask for a pint and a cheese 'roll' at lunch in the Swan and Rushes and the place goes silent....
Gerard Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 I know a couple of Scots and Norwegian who have been Leicester fans for years, they're no doubt judged now when people find out what team they support.
maynefox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Ditto. At university when I say I am Leicester fan I get the "how long you've supported them for?" look. This is fantastic though. Personally, this season has brought unprecedented joy when the last two years has been filled with one shit news after another. Can't thank the club, the staff and the players enough!!
Robin JD Popley Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Meant to add: Mods - if you want to get rid of my second and third time posting of my comment please do. My wifi was playing up earlier and I didn't realise it sent more than once! Ditto. At university when I say I am Leicester fan I get the "how long you've supported them for?" look. Guest Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 I miss not being able to use the word "cob"! That's the sorta word you should use anyway and enjoy the confused looks it generates
Carl the Llama Posted 29 April 2016 Posted 29 April 2016 I need emergency fingernail transplants or else I'll likely bleed out from my digits before I get a chance to see the title being sealed.
