Raj Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Someone say Khan goes for easy fights? Didn't he move up TWOweight divisions to fight the reigning Champ in which he got sparked out??? Yeah...sounds like a nice easy fight then!!!
Dr The Singh Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Someone say Khan goes for easy fights? Didn't he move up TWOweight divisions to fight the reigning Champ in which he got sparked out??? Yeah...sounds like a nice easy fight then!!! Oh come on, only amateurs in boxing knowledge would say such shite. Oscar de lots owns both khan and Alvarez, this match was made to make money. If you aware, Khan has well under performed under there contract and hence had little choice. Alvarez needed a fighter, Khan had a no win fight and paid his management company also.Oscar and the boys were looking for PAC man or may weather, they got shit, this fight made them some money back and got khan a get out of jail free or he would have to fight someone like kell brook, who would end his career.

You avoided his point, and that was if khan went for easy fights like you suggested then he wouldn't of stepped up two weight divisions and fought Canelo.
Guest Cujek Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 You can't imagine an American of Hispanic origin doing this or even an American of Pakistani origin going it , maybe it's indicative of how disenfranchised some young people of Asian origin feel in modern Britain ? What ever his reasons are , I fear it's not going to help his community in the long term. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-3620692/Amir-Khan-looking-stunning-Olympic-return-wants-represent-Pakistan-Rio-summer.html Or maybe he is just a ****?
Raj Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 You avoided his point, and that was if khan went for easy fights like you suggested then he wouldn't of stepped up two weight divisions and fought Canelo.Yes THAT was the point I was making! .Thank foxestalk for the ignore list!!!
Dr The Singh Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 You avoided his point, and that was if khan went for easy fights like you suggested then he wouldn't of stepped up two weight divisions and fought Canelo. I don't avoid anything mate. To be clear, both fighters are signed up to BoxRec (Oscar De La Hoya's company). Khan is going no where, he is not big enough to generate a paq/mayweather fight, and BoxRec have invested alot of money without any big payment. Canelo, needed a fight. This fight was perfectly engineered by BoxRec, Khan was given a opportunity to fight at a 'catch weight', meaning, even if he lost it would not effect his standing at his current weight. This fight was all about BoxRec and $$$$$ for which Khan got $6m, not about easy or hard fights, Khan had very little choice other then fight a tough fight in his division which he has avoided as another defeat at his weight would end his career or fight another has been or bum in his division, for which BoxRec would not allow due to the lack of $$$$$ and the public would further lose interest in him, or take this catch weight fight, for which if he won, he would be champ or if he lost he would make $$$$$ for BoxRec and still continue with face. So he avoided the tough option of fighting any reputable fighter at his division to end his career, which Khan has been doing for many years!!
indierich06 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Don't see a problem with this to be honest. Nice to honour your parents heritage. If your parents moved to Spain before you were born, and you grew up there, I imagine most of you would still want to represent England if you had the chance? People seem to put this country up on a pedestal, like chidren of immigrants that grow up here should be grateful to be here, or grateful that we're 'letting' them represent our country. Nothing wrong with having pride in your roots.

His career needs a boost and fighting in Rio could do that, he's more likely to get a place with Pakistan than us. There's nothing wrong with that either.
CosbehFox Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Nic That's sort of my questionWhy ???Why doesn't he get respect ?Decent boxer , Olympic medal , seems nice guyI just don't understand His personality is the issue with most people, arrogant without the major success to sustain it.

purpleronnie Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 If he got turned down for Britain is have no issue the fact is he hasn't even said he wanted to try for Britain Khan is an Ungrateful twat Apart from the huge amount of charity work he does of course.
GaelicFox Posted 3 June 2016 Author Posted 3 June 2016 He's a boxer living his life, what does he owe anyone? Britain paid for the career and maybe inspiring some British kids to be the next generation is the right thing to do We all owe somebody something and should always leave a little for the next person Be sad world otherwise ! Are you bipolar? Lithium kicks in after a few days
GaelicFox Posted 3 June 2016 Author Posted 3 June 2016 Apart from the huge amount of charity work he does of course. Don't get me started on the Amir Khan foundation !

Lithium kicks in after a few days He wouldn't get picked though? He knows it, everyone knows it. It's not like Britain is desperate for him to represent us at the Olympics and he's snubbing us to box for Pakistan? What's inspiring about trying to box for GB and getting turned down? He's already won a silver medal for this country, what more do you want? He's just trying to prolong his career and go to another Olympics. And to go back to my earlier question, if you moved to Spain and had a kid, and that kid ended up being an amazing footballer on the verge of an international call up, would you - as his father - want him to play for England or Spain?

If he qualifies he would go, How does anyone know he wouldn't get picked ?? Thats mental staying this as fact "he knows it" none of us know that , why wouldn't he get picked ??Your soccer analogy is all wrong .... Here is the right way to look at it Harry Kane his father is from Galway in Ireland, his family are steeped in the Irish community in north london , he is the most valuable English player at preset and has chosen to play for England good on him no issues he views himself as English and is English But How would English people feel if after this championship he decided to go play for ireland , he declares "right lads I loved that experience with England at france 2016 but I want to go play for my fathers country now in the World Cup so cheers and good bye" He would Get pelters ! Right fecking pelters ! And rightly so ! If you are British/English Your British how on earth can you now become Pakistani ? If he felt he was packistani then he should have made that call and fought for them at the olymipics (And I would have no issue with that ) Just seems to me to be being British is something you can flip in and out of , and therein lies the reason why this great nation is loosing its sense of identity.
Webbo Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 He'd have to go through qualifying tournaments to represent us, whether Pakistan could bend the rules for him I'm not sure but I'd guess that's his thinking.

Captain... Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Khan doesn't really represent England or GB as a pro boxer, he hasn't competed in the Olympics for years, I have no real issue with him trying to get to the Olympics with Pakistan, because he wouldn't stand a chance with team GB. He is a sportsman trying to rebuild his career, it is not really different to Giggs representing England at schoolboy level, or the countless other sportsmen representing nationalities other than their birth nation. If he can do it then it is his right to choose the path that best suits him. Whether he will be fully supported by Pakistan boxing/Olympic fans is up to them. In the same way some people never fully got behind Kevin Pietersen or Greg Rusedski representing our country. I do have an issue with professional boxers being allowed into the Olympics it is an absolute joke of a decision, and I hope that team GB only picks amateur boxers, and I really hope that one of them wins.

We have professional tennis players at the Olympics, I think we're having golfers as well this year. The athletes are all full time pros as well.

The new golden boy.. All in all, it was NOT an easy fight for Khan
Captain... Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 We have professional tennis players at the Olympics, I think we're having golfers as well this year. The athletes are all full time pros as well. None of these sports are violent sports and result in serious injury and brain damage, an amateur boxer is not as developed physically as a professional boxer and they should not be competing together. It is also a different sport, it is not just about them being professional, it is that what an amateur boxer does bears very little resemblance to what a professional does.
