First half yes but I was a bit disapointed with Musa and Okazaki in regards to closing down, Musa I understand because he is new to the club and may have been told to focus on finding space but I felt Ulloa ran more then Okazaki out of possession. The last 15-20 minutes where painful because Celtic where just passing it around the defence not looking to make attacking plays and there wasn't a great deal of closing down, plus when we got the ball the strikers where too far from the midfield which ment we kept on losing possession against their more physical CBs.

As you said though it is a friendly so I am not too concerned, just thought its an area we could improve on and will improve on when fitness increases.

On the plus side we seem to look better at slowing the game down and keeping the ball, Zielers distribution is top notch and Chilwell is going to be a beast LB for us. Amartey too looked supurb when moved into midfield and I think with more game time he could be a Kante replacement (Mendy to me is more of a Drinkwater mould from the videos and information I have seen and heard)

It was only our second  pre season game ffs. What are you expecting?

I'm aware fitness levels aren't at the top right now but thought I would point out some things that i noticed from the game, I did realise though I would seem overly critical so thats why I added in that line and some positives as well.

Can't believe what I've just read about Union FS, if it wasn't for them our ground would be like a library. As you stated our away ends are shite and I 100% agree with that. But do you know why our away ends seem so shite? Because you don't have Union FS there starting off the chants. Instead you get people who will just stand there and occasionally sing a song at 100mph and then the chant dies.

I for one thank Union FS and hope they manage to sort our away ends out in the near future because it's getting embarrassing!

Any sort of harsh criticism when only 2nd pre season game I feel would be tremendously unfair. Especially with new personnel to bed in too!

All things considered I thought we were way ahead of what I was expecting.

Apologies if I was a little abrupt and I realise that different people have different expectations and expectations.

No its fair enough I was pleased with the result and I understand that friendlies are for match fitness and mean nothing, im more annoyed that celtic bored me for the last 15 minutes passing it about with little purpose but I guess im going to need to get used to that again.

Don't know if that's true or not but it wouldn't surprise me if they did have Russian flags.

The filthy bastards hate anything English or British, when Falklands war burns victim Simon Weston was a guest of our club at an old firm match the mhanks  had Argintina flags and chanted 'ARGINTINA ARGINTINA'. They're also IRA loving tottie hocking weirdos, Im sure your fans  would have heard a few versions of ' boys of the old brigade ' and other Irish republican/IRA  songs  yesterday from the plastic wannabe paddys.

***** hold up banners about blood stained poppy's and disrupt any minutes silence in remembrance.   They are scum mate no doubt about that.   I could go on all day about the filthy actions of their fans,  like smashing a bottle into a 10 year old Rangers fans face knocking out teeth or hitting  3 year old man city supporter on the head with a brick , mocking the victims of the Ibrox disaster ect ... To save me the trouble I will post this link if anybody can be bothered having a look....  Will be an eye opener for some to the actions of the most vile support in British football,...

Well herein  lies your problem

The Glasgow rangers sing the famine song (a  racist little ditty about starving immigrants) and do the "bouncy" which is a celebration of a young catholic lad stamped to death by Ulster loyalists in Portadown,

I completely agree with you about some of the Celtic supporters but quite frankly you are a bigoted cock.

Our ends are pretty crap now if we're honest about this. Lets not make excuses. It being a friendly didn't stop Celtic making their place noisier than any PL ground I went to last season.

That ultra section at Celtic yesterday isn't what's football about. Do I want safe standing ? Yes . Do I want to sing ? Yes. I just find them so cringey though. Like a bunch of nerds have overtaken football grounds and want to be hipsters European ultras.

We don't need flags waving non stop to get behind the team or jumping or crouching down on the floor to get behind our team. None of this ever happened at filbert street, The UFS need to drop their attitude next year and actually do what their suppose to do and be a FANS group instead of a cliquely group of arrogant dicks.

Away end yesterday was a joke, too many plastics in there who have jumped on the band wagon. Didn't stand or sing, last season it started to get bad and I hope it doesn't get worst.

Wembley gonna be shit, if yesterday was anything to go off.

I don't want to get in to your little feud cause frankly it's boring, but are you the bloke on the back row that likes to throw his money around?

Our end is.......is getting really really tedious, some will sing, some won't!

Demographics, priority system and acoustics will alter the perceived noise level too. It is what it is despite the moaning.

Now can we get back to the football and keep this chat to a dedicated atmosphere thread/bitch fest?

Everyone knows our away ends are shit and the reasons discussed have been brought up countless times.

Don't really by into Ultra stuff but I stand and sing to support my team, just a shame there isn't more of us.

What a lot of shite, and herein lies your problem....  it's republican propaganda, lies aimed at demonising the Rangers support, the same tactics are used against the loyalist community in N.Ireland.   It's been going on for years against our support.

Republican and nationalists favourite tactic is to lie, repeat lie and continue to repeat lie until its taking as fact, has to be said it works a treat for them lol

The famine song was a piss take of Scottish celtic supporters who pretend to be Irish, and a piss take of Celtics faux Irishism, it's not been sang at Rangers match for years

The bouncy has **** all to do with anything in N Ireland, in the 80's supporters all over the country used to do it on the terraces, it died out for most during the 90's with all seater stadium but we kept  it going and made it our own.  this guys a ****ing moon unit coming out with pish like that.

No, is there a bloke on the back row who likes to throw his money around ? I'm not labelling all UFS members but a lot of them think they're above everyone else in SK1. Why can't we just have a kop ? That stand and sing ? Why all of a sudden has everyone got to buy into this ultra shite ? Stickers, flag waving non stop, jumping up and down is all bollocks. Not supporting your team.

Regarding our away supports, seems back in the shite days when you could always get a ticket, them away crowds where better. seems too many families, couples and middle class rugby fans have infected the away crowds these days.

Back to the game Mendy is not a Kante replacement. Hopefully -and im sure he will - picks up a bit becuase he looked completely off the pace and very pedestrian in the 1st half. Only a handful of touches I think. obviously 1 half of freindly football, his first with the club and very early days.

I'm sure Mendy will get better, he's not as strong as Kante in the tackle I'm sure, but I think he will prove to be more agile, have a bit of confidence to go round a player, accelerate away and pop the ball around more comfortably. He might be more similar in style to Drinky than Kante. Whether that's a good thing remains to be seen.

It isn't like we had one in the first place though. Something needed doing about it.

UFS has never claimed to be an ultra group.

People giving Celtic great credit for their atmosphere  They boo British soldiers and sing songs about the IRA. Seriously have a word with yourselves. They're the biggest pile of scumbags in football.

Come on Ash, you can't describe a group who have invited all to be a part as 'arrogant dicks' or a 'clique' and then proceed to slag off the 'plastics' and 'families'.

Ultras belong in football as much as casuals, families, kids, OAPs and any other group you want to define. You don't have to agree with them or like them and no one is forcing you to join them so just accept that it is a growing section of football support in the UK, get on with it and support the team in the way you want to.

I don't really see why you've got so much of an issue with UFS given they're the one group of people guaranteed to agree with you about wanting people to stand and sing!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, fair enough if that's what you think. But please remember that no one is asking you to join in. You support the team in whichever way you feel you want to. They don't have anything against those that sit down or don't sing, everyone is different. They have improved the atmosphere, that was all they wanted to do from the start.

Back to the thread.

I really liked the look of Zieler, made some good saves I thought. His distribution was also good and quick at times. Do we think there will be much competition next season with Schmeichel?

Posted

UFS have been brilliant for the atmosphere. I'm glad they are here and if it wasn't for them the atmosphere would not be as good.

I do agree that they don't join in with others starting songs and that they do try to get some songs going that will never catch on, and then repeat it for the next 5 mins! Hopefully they listen to that. However, overall not will agree they are essential to the atmosphere

When you have both sides of the sectarian divide on a forum this sort of debate will always get out of hand!

There is no place for political or religious bigotry in our great game of football yet sadly it's alive and well in both halves of Glasgow!

Thankfully the  troubles in Northern Ireland are mainly a thing of the dim and distant past ,since the peace process, yet the Protestant Catholic divide still infests what should just be a fierce and passionate local FOOTBALL derby! The 'Old Firm' derby is legendary and shouldn't be about this hatred crap any more yet it festers due to only learnt behaviour. I blame my generation and older ,the 50+ age group, for keeping it alive and passing it down through the generations.

To say you hate any whole group of people, Catholics, Protestants,Black & Asian, Foreigners, British, Gays, Lesbians etc etc is sad and pathetic yet through the learnt behaviour it still exists and festers.

I do not know if it will ever be stamped out , it should be but I doubt it!

Through the Jock Wallace connection and due to the brother of a holiday romance being a big Rangers Fan I spent many happy weekends in Glasgow at Ibrox and other grounds in Scotland back in the early 80s. My interest was purely football yet it was soon apparent that I had to be Protestant to be safely accepted especially being English. I experienced one Old Firm at Park Head over a New Year (Hogmonay) and the hatred and abuse was at a level beyond words!

I hate hatred , racism and bigotry from both sides and hope one day the dinosaurs become extinct.

Rubbish!! Union fs are not it blocks L k at home, and these are the loudest parts of the ground by a long way, yes they might get the kop going for the odd song, but to say our ground would be a library without them, is a false statement

Which ones do you mean specifically out of interest? The only one I think they started and carried on with was Leicester Boys Are We which got almost unanimous praise on here.
