Well, that's just it. If you've tasted Buckfast, you know that they'll drink anything up here!

Tanqueray 10.

Gin is best with ginger ale rather than tonic.

Bombay Sapphire is awful, no flavour.

A few gins like Bombay are distilled through a filter, picking up the flavour as it evaporates.

Tanqueray is flavoured by basically using something like a massive tea bag so it has more taste.

Had a Hoxton gin and ginger ale yesterday, incredible! Thoroughly recommend trying it.

My next favourite was Silent Pool, so good.

I prefer Tanquerey but it's too expensive for everyday drinking so I have Gilbey's, 1.75 litres costs $18 but top shelf gin is at least $30.

My wife makes a great Martini cocktail for me. 3-4 ounces of gin with half a cap of dry Martini poured over a cup of ice in a shaker. She inverts it about six times and pours straight into a large Martini glass that has been in the freezer all day. The first sip is ice cold and has a real bite. I rarely have an olive with it but do when dining out. Tomolives (pickled small tomatos) are another garnish I enjoy.

I have to admit, it has been an acquired taste but when done right, hits the spot every time.

Love a gin, and some great shouts in here. Surprised noone's mentioned Martin Miller yet-a really good subtle gin and England/Iceland collaboration.

Sloane's is a quality Dutch gin-not easy to find but amazing if you do.

Conker from Dorset, and my favourite at the moment Adnams Copper House as mentioned above.

And a good rule of thumb is to pair cheap gin with fancy tonic, and good gin with basic tonic-Sainsbury's or Waitrose Essentials are apparently the best...

A good rule of thumb is don't buy cheap gin lol.

Just trying to work out if I am likely to go to the gym after the football or to crack open some gin.

Because I plan on opening a stil in ireland and develop a new local bespoke Gin brand there , the region I'm from is going through a gastronomic and tourist explosion and I'm looking at starting a Gin stil there

im going to do the brew lab distillers course but a bit of local distilling knowledge would be good
