the real evil

You know being champions of the premier league and being subjected to and more aware of all the incredible made up speculation from a number of renowned and up and coming media outlets... this combined with the ludicrous manipulation of minds resulting in the BREXIT debacle serves as a reminder that the real evil of today is the media. Albeit designed for good, the internet has become the tool for media entities to wield their power, not just locally, but nationally and globally to create division, enhance fear and promote mayhem.

The media preys on the fact that most people have beliefs and despite the well know saying ' don't believe everything you read' people are conditioned to read stories that prove what they believe or want to believe and discard articles that counter their beliefs, as speculation.

Reading all the stuff about Mahrez going to Arsenal all summer has Gooners in a frenzy as a result of articles with absolutely no substance or genuine source when Mahrez and Ranieri were either silent on the issue or categorical in stating he was going nowhere. Rather than read the articles from the local paper (the Merc) or listen to press conferences with soundbites all suggesting he will stay including actual quotes, the majority of Gooners chose to ignore and get taken in by hype on Sky which itself confessed to being a portal for sharing 'rumour' not fact. Why? because those stories backed up what they wanted to believe so they discarded the stories with more foundation suggesting he will stay. We all do it too speculating on here about potential transfers with no substance. Some people crave the power the media has to enhance their own self esteem by professing to be ITK when they have no clue whatsoever what the frig is happening. But whilst speculation continues, they feel a sense of power and if they get it right by use of educated guess or the simple flip of a coin, their power increases tenfold.Even those that challenge them, a bit of them wants the chap to be ITK as they are saying what they want to hear!

Now whilst football is something we (on here) all know lots about and arguably isn't life or death, there are therefore more people that challenge the crap flying around. But those same people, including me, cannot profess to being experts on every global culture, politics, economics, religion, astro physics, biology etc etc. but every day we are subjected to stories in papers and on the internet that we cannot be expected to know enough about to challenge and however open minded we are, however much we try to take things with a pinch of salt, on a daily basis, we are being fed so much information, a lot of it sticks! It may stick in our conscious or our subconscious over which we have little control.

Someone on my facebook constantly shares articles stating ''disgrace'' but when I google and look up the facts often it's not clear cut.

I recently saw an article, they claimed as 'disgrace' in a new publication. ''Paedo monster grooms young girl''. Turns out he turned 16 last month and was chatting up a schoolfriend 2 months short of her 16th birthday. Now I know they can't ''do the deed'' as it is illegal but the headline hardly portrays the reality of the situation and relies on people not reading further. in fact the article was moreso designed as clickbait as there was no real story to it, just 101 confusing ways to get you to accidentally click on an ad!

I am an atheist but for the religious amongst you, if you believe in an anti-christ, surely he is here today not as a person but as as a medium and that medium is the media. The media controls every decision made by world leaders as they hold the power over how they are portrayed, and whether they are successful by what and how they print it due to their influence over all of us. Often things that would make the world a better place would be career suicide for a top leader as the press would crucify them for even contemplating trying to implement them. It exists on different levels too, the tabloids ramming it down your throat in font size 30 to target one type of audience and the broadsheets in a more...seemingly neutral fashion by appearing to present the facts for people to make their own minds up but doing so in a way that still leads to it's readers forming the opinion the article wishes them to.

The media have provided the tools for ISIS to flourish. The media could squash ISIS in an instant by giving them zero airtime or just reporting on how they are failing. Imagine if the Paris bombings had only been reported in the local papers but not globally or not at all. Imagine if the fear that makes them poweful didn't exist!! Freedom of speech, the papers claim but, where freedom of speech supports terrorists by raising fear amongst those who oppose it and giving a cause to fight for to those who feel excluded from society, how can this be anything but evil. To make money, they support evil  - this in itself is an evil act. The vast majority of successes by ISIS are published, their failures less so and so they gain power ...until the point comes where the press decide to squash them and pursue another evil that provides them with more dollar.

It;s not just ISIS, every opportunity to cause mayhem is taken to enrich themselves, And they are not all evil. They themselves are brainwashed into believing that freedom of speech is a freedom that underpins our humanity and when asked why they only report the bad stuff, their response is that people aren't interested in good news - it won't sell... so they admit without realising they are presenting unbalanced views.

BREXIT is a great example of the manipulation, The papers backing it did so in superb fashion, those against it focussed moreso on other ways to sell their papers, those for homing in on peoples fears on immigration and delusions of Greatness. I personally didn't know enough so I sought to read loads of articles (not newspapers) from economists, accountants, historians, lawyers and formed what in my mind was the only possible conclusion and that is that BREXIT was a ludicrous idea. Being an experienced and high profile negotiator, it helped that I am experienced in knowing the importance of leverage and being able to understand the impossible negotiating position we would hold if we voted out, made for a no brainer of a position for me. However, I tried very hard to convince friends and colleagues using fact based, and in my mind, strong if not watertight arguments, answering every question they threw at me..... yet even as a man skilled and trained in changing peoples minds, had zero success in converting anyone to vote REMAIN. They continued to throw back soundbites from Barmy Boris, Farage and co and they listened to me categorically explaining how untrue those beliefs were..... but they hung onto them, unable to counter my position with any substance, but by simply saying... ''oh well enough now, well who knows the real truth, you can't believe anyone''  I don't want this to be a discussion about BREXIT again but my point is that people who know and respect me, that usually agree with me, in the face of me presenting them with evidence they could not counter, still chose to discard what I was saying in favour of what others were saying that supported what they WANTED to believe. I was open to hear their views, open to debate and albeit unlikely open to having my mind changed but no efforts were made to convince me with researched evidence.

Recent evidence shows that if you took the votes of those that didn't vote, and gave everyone who did vote, the chance to vote again, nearly 70% would vote remain. Those that switched sides are those that have accepted that much of what was said by LEAVE is now being proven to be untrue but concerningly a big proportion still refuse to believe that the lies they were sold, some of which have since been admitted to by LEAVE campaigners are indeed lies as it doesn't back up what they WANT to believe.

To me Britain has showed how great we are this year but not by BREXIT, by how bloody well our olympians have done vs the rest of the world at so many varied events considering how small a nation we are.

I hear now that Schlupp is handing in a transfer request, from an article published a day after Ranieri was quoted as saying 'Jeff wants to stay' And so doth it continue :-)

Is it not true then, in terms of Brexit, that the Remain press also influenced and played on peoples fears?

No newspaper is entirely neutral and almost all (certainly in the popular press) will publish excrement and sensationalise things to sell papers.

Stop stressing. T'was ever thus.

I'm just glad the remain press didn't tell any lies. The reason I voted to stay was because I wasn't going to be left at the mercy of the Johnson-Gove led Tories and I was scared of the emergency budget.

P.S You forgot to mention the Rothchilds and the dem Joos.

I assume this is sarcasm?

Yes! Hence the second line, you could barely open the Guardian for two months without them trying to tell everyone a vote to leave meant Boris and Gove were going to remove all your human rights.

Good thing that nice Mrs May got into power then.

I'd say conspiracy-theorism was more prevalent on the 'Out' side than the 'In'.

Not that that has anything to do with the completely bonkers OP.

The media have been selling a number of our players to various clubs all summer and yet they are all still here! How bizzare!
