chili_con_carne Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 I'm surprised few have picked up on this - but I much prefer the Vardy that used to chase and close down non stop. Watching him now, he has altered his game a lot. He plays more like a Harry Kane now. Just waiting for an opportunity. He has obviously been told to do this by Ranieri or Hodgson when with England, but it is wrong. This isn't the Jamie Vardy I have loved watching for us!
RastaDog Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 As with Mahrez, he's not getting last year's service AND our 'over the top ball down the channel' is being countered. Yes, he's not quite up to last season's sharpness (yet) but his goal against Swansea shows us it's still there.

Larry_LCFC Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Should have slotted that one on one yesterday. Just smashed it straight at the keeper. Not good enough.

GaelicFox Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Hunger gone , all on big fat salaries now need hunger to come back ..... Seeing him dropped from England panel might Buck him up I thought he worked hard yesterday to be fair
Foxes1 Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 So he stays at Leicester and now after 4 games he not good enough. If he had signed for Arsenal people would be saying why did we sell him , the same goes for Mahrez. Some people need to get a grip on things
Monsell1976 Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 None of the team are the same as last season, I would like to think it is down to a poor pre season, in that pointless tournament, traveling half way around the world, and once we gaining the fitness and confidence, the players we know they can be will return.
lgfualol Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 I have noticed less running, but could be possible, as with everyone, they have been preparing for the CL and don't want to get injured. All stems from the two in midfield though, against any competent teams then we are now always on the backfoot, resorting to constant hoofs from nearly everyone. Vardy had about 5 touches yesterday.
Fox92 Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 We seem to be doing those direct passes over the top which look awful when they don't work. That's where we get the 'long ball' thing aimed at us. When the defence is deep or actually has quality like yesterday it's as if we have no plan B... I was annoyed they had Lucas at centre half and not once did we get the ball down and run at him.

Instead, one of our players thought it would be better to smash it straight to a Liverpool player every chance we could.
billyn88 Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 A lot of players underperforming in the team but I don't think vardys style or application has changed, he's still running after everything and to me looks quite sharp. The fact is everything fell for him last season, that shot at mignolet powers underneath him into the net last season and we've all got a different opinion. He's far from my biggest worry which is probably how mahrez is performing. He might be due a dropping, it was the making of him last year being dropped for Norwich away.
Sampson Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 He's got 3 goals in our first 5 games while not playing his best and not having as much service. I don't think Vardy is the issue at all.
Richard Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 He's doesn't really close down centre backs like he used to, now he just cuts off passing lanes into midfielders. Started happening towards the end of last season
justfoxes Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Kane did exactly the same thing for the spuds early last season but he still was the premier leagues top scorer in the end only by one goal tho !! lets give Vards the benefit of the doubt as most of our players didn't get much of a summer break due to the euros etc I think soon especially when he links up with Slimani a different predator in Vardy this season ! So we've had two fook ups in results so far early doors once we can get the team just right I can honestly say we can have a great season in both EPL and CL !
Moksky Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Some ridiculous comments, saving yourself for CL, not motivated because of fat salaries. Get a grip. Vardy works hard, I recall him closing down with 15 to go yesterday.
sdb Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 Doesn't look quite as clinical at the moment but not far off. I think he's been one of our best players so far this season.

Rubbish he got zero service yesterday and still walked away with a goal and could have had another if it wasnt for a great save. I think him and slim shady will make a great partnership
Argarath Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 I put my money on that in the next 2 games, both Mahrez and Vardy's form will pick up

st albans fox Posted 11 September 2016 Posted 11 September 2016 I don't think the shirts looks as clean as they did last year. Have we given a big pay rise to the kit cleaner?
