Vardy not the same as last season.

be honest, if he chased down everything we hoof up he'd probably keel over after an hour, some of our hoofs are so rubbish and you'd think we at least practice them in training if that is our only game plan.

He doesn't have the same space to operate in teams are playing with a deeper defence against us.

I don't think Vardy's anywhere near the biggest issue in our team right now. He was awful at Hull but he's looked a bit more himself in the last couple of games I think.

DavieG's right and he's being economical with his energy. Vardy probably knows that he'll get just 4-5 chances or half-chances in a match and he needs to be lightning fast to take them because his game is based on pace and if he loses half a yard exhausting his stamina he'll not be sharp enough against the best defenders.

Vardy scored once and hit the target with another brilliant chance to score a second against Liverpool. Two goals at Anfield would have satisfied most strikers - especially feeding off such poor service - but sometimes goalkeepers spoil the story.

The other fact is that he needs to have something realistic to chase in the first place and there wasn't anything because the classic over-the-top passes were overhit and no-one was threatening any other angle of attack so containing Vardy was relatively straightforward.

Be nice to see Musa on his own up front at some point, like against Barca.

He seems in awe of Vardy and always feels the need to pass to him

I know what you mean I'd love to see the guy when in great positions to fire it into the net rather than pass to Vards at times, you think when he passes if only you shot rather than passed believe in your own talent don't rely on others!

But now Slimani is here and if he starts bagging a few whether Musa will get a look in up the middle or will he be pushed wide?

But however he's played the lads need to sort their stuff out as the game against Liverpool was awful, back to the drawing boards and training fields lads get things back on track against Brugge and Burnley !!

he needs to do what he did last season and harass and cajole defenders into making mistakes, keep pressing them that is so what is so good about his game and as well as the goals got him into the England squad because very few players pressure the ball the way he does. don't wait for things to happen make things happen

we are twatting the ball up for Vardy to chase far more often than we used to and a lot of the time giving him no hope of getting it, he can't sprint non stop all game so if we actually tried to play football more often, which we did a lot last season, he'd be more effective as we didn't used to just twat it to Vardy we broke in numbers at speed now we smash it to the 1 guy on his own

I agree that the service isn't good enough. We were painfully predictable going forward on Saturday.

HOOOOFFF! If you are going to play that ball to Vardy, make sure it's in the channel between full back and centre back. Not aimlessly towards one of the centre-backs. I'm really disappointed we didn't take advantage of the Milner-Lucas combo. One of the strikers should have literally played on that all game.

Vardy to me looked very tired against Hull and not match fit. You have to remember the bloke participated in the Euro`s after a season where he played most minutes for us and didnt have the luxury of being rested. He then leaves the England camp after we get knocked out to get married. Even as a pro footballer he will naturally let his hair down for such an event and like most of whats gone past in previous months its a bit of a mental fooook. He then comes back for an operation on his wrist and was rushed to our pre-season earlier than most players involved in the Euro`s for that dumb ass International Cup.

IMO we wont see the best of Vardy for a couple of weeks as he gets really match fit. BTW, look at Harry Kane who also had a long season with pressure to score goals and a below average Euros. He looks all over the place. At least Vardy has banged in 2 in 4 so far!

Im not sure I agree with that. I know its the theory or what we were expecting but he had a handful of chances against Hull and fluffed his lines, scored against Liverpool and missed a one and one but more importantly he had loads of space to run behind their defence but the supply line was well done (again). He got the service against Swansea and scored a typical Vardy goal when we won the ball (Amartey) and he was put through by the bloke who can and usually does in Drinky and against Arsenal we again were not created from the wings as usual. If Drinky, Albrighton and Mahrez dont supply him with the ammo then he wont score. He isnt the type of striker to make things happen by himself. He needs service and Im sure it will come.

He reeled in his closing down of defenders last season too, nothing new just a way of conserving his energy and using it wisely, plus we have Shinji in there doing the yards. Not the problem in our team at the moment.

He's scored 2 in 4 in PL. If he was still on penalties he could be sat on 4 from 4. Given the little he's fed off I think he's done pretty well. Wouldn't be surprised if he's been told to be more economical with his energy...it's smart.

A much bigger issue is Okazaki's lack of goals. You simply can't have a number ten who scores as few as he does. His shooting from distance is comical - I know people will praise his work rate but if we are to progress we really need a "10" who is creative and can chip in with 10 goals or so...

scoring goals isn't the criteria contributing them is, if you have a 10 that got 5 goals but 20 assists he'd still be a vital player for you

Agreed Jimmy. But unfortunately the stats show he has 8 apps, 1 goal (for Japan in a friendly) and 0 assists this season and last season 5 goals and no assists in 28 apps. That is woeful for a no. 10 in a successful side.

I agree with you mate. If Mahrez was on his game which so far he isn't then Vardy would be getting the ball more and we all know what he can do given half a chance. These balls over the top if not in his general direction are wasted. He'll cause a few things himself but needs the service from the midfield which he's not getting.
