If you were claudio

What would your reaction be to the performances since last season (inc pre season)

Stay as we are, or make a change?

Me personally, I'd say we simply cannot play 4-4-2 anymore without Kante, he was like 2 men on the pitch and if amartey isnt going to be able to fulfill this role, it simply wont work.

My personal preference would be a 4-3-3
            Kasper

Simps Huth Morgs Fuchs

   Amart          Mendy (when fit)

             Drinks

Mahrez              Musa

              Vardy

We are all couch managers, what would you do?
I would consider dropping schmeichel too.

It's early days as we know, amartey and mendy could be anything but we need them to start showing it sooner rather than later.

It does ask a few questions though, if our midfield isn't strong enough to play 2 CMs, who do you drop for the extra man in the middle?

You cant drop Vardy surely? Where does Slimani fit?

If we were going to play 2 in midfield it's amazing that we didn't get anyone in.

Could we play 3-5-2 and play Slimani and Vardy together upfront?

If we were to make a change (I don't think one is needed, yet) 3-5-2 seems logical with the players we have, especially when you consider Simpson could now be out for a bit.

Schmeichel

Hernandez

Morgan

Huth

Albrighton (RWB)

Fuchs/Schlupp (LWB)

Amartey

Drinky

Mahrez (CAM)

Slimani

Vardy

Alternatively, a 5-2-2-1 might suit too, although it may be a little too defensive.

Albrighton (RWB)

Hernandez

Morgan

Huth

Fuchs (LWB)

Drinky

Amartey

Mahrez (RW)

Vardy

Musa/Schlupp (LW)

It will be interesting to see what Claudio will do, for sure.

This team is what I've said from before the season started is what we should do in the champions league but I would be happy with that team most games with slim as a plan B

He needs to get the belief back in the player's  minds so much of what we're  missing is belief and confidence that's  a big reason why we're 2nd to the ball, over/ under hitting passess and not moving off the ball as much.

Well coming out in the press with stuff like dropping players isn't exactly confidence inspiring

Looks like motivation is a factor also. Why do they need to win every game again? They've already performed the greatest sporting story ever.. it's going to be very tough to keep this team motivated to perform in the league this season.

Thing is I don't know why motivation or belief should even be a factor?

We wont the league, if they need confidence boosts after that there is something seriously wrong.

As I said in the PL thread I think they're missing Kante in there minds so much was said about his influence, like having two players they're now having to perform without him and maybe they think they can't = confidence gone.

I will use a league as an experimental for champions league because we can be in premier league again but not champions league.

If we gain 17th in premier league and any round in cups with Semi-final champions league it will be more than enough for me ..

in formation i will try many lineups in midfield (try albrighton and kapustka with drinkwater in centre) and try to play 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 until we find the best lineup for champions league match.

the second season come down was always going to be hard for claudio, he needs to deal with it and get us back to how we were playing last season, it is going to be extremely hard for him this season but needs to work even harder to maintain our performances over the season

We need width to play on the break like we do and I always think a midfield three stifles that without using wingbacks which we don't really have.

If we continue to play with Mahrez regardless of form he needs to be released from defensive tracking (mainly because he doesn't do it enough). That means he has to play centrally. He could play centrally in a 3 (drinks plus one sitting behind) with 3 forwards in front, 2 of which have a task to track back constantly when out of possession.

The problem is Vardy isn't a wide player but Slimani may be a better option through the middle due to physical stature.  It also means big gaps between the wide players (fullback and wide forward)

In summary I'm glad it's his problem to solve and not mine.

I think we can still get away with 4-4-2 versus weaker teams, as we saw against Swansea. Against stronger teams 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 might be the way forward, particularly the latter if Simpson is out for long.

Two Holding midfielders and loads of pace. Got to be worth a try with the players we have.

If I was Claudio... I would get in my black Ferrari and cruise up and down White Hart Lane, slinging the v's at the fans, Bocelli at full blast! :D

Would ruin the nice guy image, but still...

Schlupp, Albrighton, probably Fuchs & Chilwell.

Fuchs possibly on that list although pace is becoming an issue - the rest for me are not Prem class wing-backs.

Albrighton is a winger, Chilwell isn't at all ready from recent displays and Schlupp is an impact pace sub not a starting WB with defensive, positional nouse by any stretch of the imagination.
