Ranieri is a good person.

A somewhat rarity this days or at least these sort of people get very little publicity.

Yet another heartwarming story about Leicester’s Ranieri, an opponent who remains thankful

Claudio Ranieri being a very nice man is almost a standing joke. That’s not to say it’s untrue, or annoying, but rather that every week there are new stories which make the Leicester City manager seem the nicest guy in football.

There seems to be a positive Ranieri story for every Leicester City occasion and, sure enough, the club’s Champions League opener against Club Brugge has brought its own.

The Premier League champions travel to Belgium for their first Champions League group game on Wednesday night. It’s an important one, a win for Leicester would see a big boost to their chances of qualifying from the group.

On the other side is Club Brugge goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle, and in Ranieri’s second period in charge of Valencia, Butelle was a young goalkeeper coming through.

In a friendly against Italian club Parma, Ranieri brought the 21 year old on for the final half hour. He lasted less than ten minutes after a serious collision saw him leave the field.

Butelle then had to undergo emergency surgery to remove his spleen, and Belgium’s HLNexplain it was a very serious situation at the time.

The French goalkeeper has told HLN that when he awoke in hospital, it was Ranieri who was sat by his side: “It does something to you if the first thing you see upon waking after major surgery is your trainer sitting right next to your bed.

“That shows his qualities as a man… You should also know that the team was about to leave for training camp, to China or somewhere, but he has made time.

“That will stay with me forever.”

To be honest, I'd find it a bit spooky if I came round from an operation and my boss was sat by my bed.

I'd think "oh shit, what have I done?"

Only if it was someone like Alan Sugar.

lots of great stories about claudio since he won the premier league, what about the stories of him being ruthless and uncompromising like great managers have to be to succeed privately they are nice men but publicly they have to be animals to thrive in the situations they find themselves in

Surely the secret is to apply the appropriate response to any given situation.

I'd say it's largely the opposite to what you said, ruthless in the changing room when things are going bad and almost always nice men in public.

If he's so brilliant, why did we lose to Liverpool so shamefully on Saturday!!!!!!!:angry::angry:

I am of course joking, but from much I've read since the weekend here, my guess is this is the feeling of a lot of people idiots.

Saw him using a cash machine on Yeoman Street a couple of weeks ago.

Was happy in taking part in some selfies with the public.

Imagine if you worked for Sports Direct.

Mind you, they've had a lot of people hospitalised there and I doubt they would have had to worry about that

It'd be worse if you came round and he was in bed with you.

If he was just sitting there, no problem.. but if he was like stroking my hair or holding my hand i would not be sure what to do...

Visiting you mum for her birthday on the day your team wins the PL is decided shows some beating. Let's be honest, he has the right priorities. Sod Shankly, it IS only football.

I always assumed that at the end of your tenure they just push you out of the back of a transit van into an open drain
