So, here we are.....

So here we are. Wednesday 14th September, a mark in the calendar and a tick in the box for our historical club.....

There are somethings that live long in the memory, even memories from our childhood stay with us if they're significant. I can still picture the 10th November 1997, walking towards Filbert Street, clutching my program and itching to get inside. The excitement comparable to nothing....hearing the clanking of the turnstile and seeing so many happy faces and laughter just being awestruck that the occasion.

Then that moment came, climbing up the stairs for the first time, as I turned the corner I could see the skyline starting to rise like the eastern sun, the tip of the score board slowly comes into view and then I froze.....looking on in sheer disbelief at the sight before me, the Leicestershire skyline in the periphery of my vision and filbert street in all of its glory.

From that moment on, it became my home, Leicester became my team and the boys in blue my hero's.

Some kids will be experiencing the same thing now, and as it stands some adults too. On Tuesday the 27th of September we will all experience the same feeling again, walking towards the KP, hearing the buzz of the ticket machine, the trickling of beer and the sound of customers telling the cashiers what change they should receive......but at approximately 1930 the lads will walk out to the gallop as always, just another game right? That's until they stand shoulder to shoulder mascots too, and George Frideric Handel' masterpiece echoes around Leicestershire for the first time, goosebumps will appear, and the hair on our neck raise to the occasion, one or two may even shed a tear....It will be an indication of how far this little club has come, we're no longer just that club who produced Gary Lineker, we're champions, and we're dining with Europe's elite.

There's an age old saying as a Leicester fan during those sporadic times of success, "enjoy it kid, because it won't last".

So...

Enjoy it, because these memories will last forever.

Great OP and like you I hope many ayoung fan feel the same about our great club. I just hope they don't find foxestalk to early on. They may not become life long fans reading some topics on here.

Great post. Makes me think of all of the really small glimpses of what I can just about remember of when I first started going to Filbert Street with my dad. From someone telling Colin Hill to "****ing sort 'em out when you get on!", to seeing Theo Zagorakis score against Utd. Parker getting sent off for taking a free kick too quickly. Too many to list - goosebumps through that post though mate!
