Why a paddy wants to get involved in an English on English hate fest is beyond me but I'm truly lost at understanding all the hatred towards him 

 

he is England's top scorer , had never pulled out of a friendly , works hard for England , has made every effort to make England successful and to add to that he is an Age Concern Gold star winner for services to toothless English grannies and paying them for those services  

 

in all seriousness you English are a right funny bunch of people at times chants of "you let your country down" and "horrible Scouse bastard" from nearly 3000 leicester fans , many whom have never even been to a meaningful England game really shocked me , a few jeers and a little "Granny Fcuker" is all well and good but 3000 people chanting what's obviously a load of bollox left me really perplexed 

 

why do English fans do this ?  ... Rooney , beckham, sterling , hart , Terry , Fatty lampard etc...... All have been regularly slaughtered by their own people 

 

how on earth can you ever expect to win a major championship if you treat your players like this ?

Fair point ... But abusing him , "you let your country down" really as a city fan today  I was totally embarrassed by that ...

Promised so much and delivered nothing (internationally). Supposedly "world class" but wouldn't get in France/Italy/Germany/Spain team. Nothing against the kid, and certainly wouldn't chant stuff like that - if that is what was happening then I don't agree with that.

 

Rooney sums up everything wrong with England team selection. He shone at Euro 2004 but since then has played in WC 2006, 2010 and 2014 and Euro 2012, 2016 and has failed to deliver, yet still gets picked.

After his 1st season at Man Utd, he's gradually stagnated. Don't know whether the loss of having Ferguson as boss had changed both his attitude and approach a little we don't know.

The honest answer is good old fashioned jealousy I'm afraid. Your average fan is just envious that a normal lad from an average background went on to earn millions and live the high life. Deep down we wish we were all Wayne Rooney with his lifestyle but we won't admit it, so we take comfort and feel better about ourselves by abusing him. Sad, but it's human nature unfortunately..

Really think the question should be why haven't the other 10 players around him for England delivered, and United the past few years. In other countries they build their teams and worship their best players...Pirlo, Iniesta, Ronaldo and these guys are not questioned or blamed when things go wrong. 

 

For me he still has the vision and technique which is world class. His pace and aggressiveness has faded away but he plays the right ball 99 times out of a 100.

Meaningful England game? I think you'll find Leicester are one of the most represented clubs on international duty and go to leicester games too, so do some research before you spout shit.

I said "most" there was 3000 in the away end ! Not all

I will voice my opinion when I spend good money going to follow England, yes. Especially the way we went out against Iceland. Rooney was awful at Euro 2016 and hasn't been at his best for a long long while. Just look at the Slovakia game, John Stones made more forward runs and dribbles than Rooney did... how can you not criticise him?

Appreciating WHAT effort he gave nothing and has done for a number of years so yes he deserves to be criticised by me and others. Put it this way if you, me and any other member of this forum performed that poorly at our job we would be sacked and don't even say we wouldn't.

I want England to perform well. All I and other fans ask is for Effort from the players. Marcus Rashford was probably our best player. He actually wanted to have a go at the opposition. For him to complete most take ons and dribbles in the whole 5 minutes he was on says a lot doesn't it?

England fans only 'turn' on players because their form at club level, isn't replicated at International level.

Maybe our expectations are just too high. We expect more from our players, hence we don't worship average players who haven't really won anything, like Robbie Keane, as a god.
