FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 I know I have heard and read a lot of people making scapegoats of our players and shoving blame around, saying players aren't trying, on too much money, out of position ect ect But looking at the way we played today maybe the missing thing is Steve Walsh? He was forever talking tactics with our manager and talking with players, maybe he did more than what people realised?
SystonFox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Im the missing link. Get me in playing that 6 role. I'll kante the **** out the premier league
cc_star Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 I don't blame the players Ranieri is 100% responsible. He gets the performances he accepts He accepts & even rewards sub-standard performances, therefore he gets sub-standard performances
sdb Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 We just need a really good CM. it's stopping us from playing any kind of varied game. We've become predictable and easy to play against, and that's before you even think about the limitations of playing hoof ball to small, nippy strikers.
Ted Maul Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Kante's energy allowed us to reap the benefits of 4-4-2 without experiencing the downsides, ie being too rigid with too many gaps between the lines. It just won't work with the players we now have, and I'm amazed Ranieri hasn't realised yet.

Monsell1976 Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Don't know about missing links, but Ann Robinson would have enough for a show with our weakest links.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Of course he is, he was a great balance to Ranieri and allowed other ideas to be heard...unfortunately a summer of being held back in terms of his targets and a senior member of the club undermining his efforts put paid to that. A massive massive loss.

Agree partly...I believe we need a quality CM yes but also desperate for a top CB..
FireFox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 Cambiasso. He's actually getting game time at Olympiacos this season and can't put as much time into managing us from afar.
inckley fox Posted 19 November 2016 Posted 19 November 2016 The determination to compete for every second ball. None of our players, no matter who they are, seem to win any of them. Last year anything that went loose was ours, and it wasn't all down to Kante either. Seeing this clearly, with our own eyes, makes it feel like a bit of an insult when Ranieri says he's satisfied with the players' efforts. I suspect this isn't the case behind close doors. If it is then fine, fire him and let's have a 2011 style purge. But it isn't. Even so, I don't think it'd hurt for him to get behind those players who have come out and said we need to do more, instead of reaffirming those who seem to think things just aren't quite going our way, but they will eventually. Either we redouble our efforts, or they won't.
stevelcfc Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 I think there's more than one, and the few that remain are rusting and corroding away.
Wymsey Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Chasing down loose balls and keeping possession are problems that interlink with each other. Kante is the obvious miss here with his ball at his feet mentality and continous hunger to charge the opposition down. Still feel quite queasy seeing him in a Chelsea shirt and starting to become very comfortable there. But, from what I've seen of Adrien Silva, not entirely sure he'd fit the problem hole here in CM as well as Kante did but will of course improve the current situation. Meanwhile, Ulloa, you're the weakest link, goodbye!
Sir Shep Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Kante defo, Walsh defo, no Rachel Riley threads allowed anymore, that's the real problem.

davieG Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 I think there's been a total misunderstanding and recognition of the affect of winning last season both physically and mentally . The effort they had to put in to enable them to play and win beyond all expectations has left them drained. Very few of them had any sort of break what with games and continuous media attention. Our game was largely based on monumental physical effort over any outstanding skills. To have stood any chance of maintaining that style of game we needed a compatable 2nd string of players something we failed miserably in recruiting for whatever reasons. We now have the extra games that we didn't have last year and the players are simple unable to maintain the high tempo game of last year they are simple out on their feet.
