What has gone wrong?

Nothing has gone wrong in the Champions League.....

Yeh but unfortunately it will do when we face a team that is not from the Belguim equivalent of the beazer homes league.

Imagine playing a decent French, German or Spanish team. Would be like lambs to the slaughter.

We're now even worse in league as our main key player Drinkwater has declined a bit. If Amartey is more sensible with his responsibilities and Drinkwater returns to form, results may change for the better.

Yeh we should have got Joey Barton in when we had the chance.

Just heard this stat on football weekly:

2016/17: played 14; GF: 14, GA: 20.

2015/16: played 14; GF: 25, GA: 20!

So interestingly our defence is just as crap last year as this!

It's just Vardy and Mahrez aren't banging them in left right and centre this year!

Now I'm really ( and I mean really ) a fan of Barton

But he has passion, which makes him a little better than what is on the field at the moment.

The alternative is get some young legs out there to play without fear.

Just to add one more thing that has gone wrong, it might be worth considering the impact of two of the worst refereeing decisions of the season so far: the failure to award a penalty when Musa was fouled against Arsenal in the last minute, and the penalty that Spurs were awarded at White Hart Lane. Both decisions were clearly wrong, and there is a very good argument we would have won both those games had the decisions been made correctly (definitely the Arsenal game, it was the last minutes of the game), and we could be 2-4 points better off, which would put us somewhere between 12th and 9th, and everyone wouldn't be panicking that we are knee deep in a relegation battle.

Not to say we haven't been utter pants at times this season, because we have, the lack of defensive organisation and some totally half hearted performances mean there is plenty to be concerned about that needs sorting out, but when things aren't going so well, you especially don't need appallingly bad refereeing mistakes to stick the boot in on the few occasions when the team has turned up effectively.

Zeiler doesn't help proceedings for me defence doesn't have any confidence in him what so ever constantly rooted to his line and we are panicking when he doesn't come for stuff hence the late clearances for corners or throw ins

We need kasper back! Nice to see Claudio just stress in his press conference how important it is to focus on the prem now. This is best case scenario for us as no distractions until February now.

And here comes the new scapegoat.

He's not a nightmare keeper in fact he's quite decent but Kasper just commands a bit more authority.

Watched a replay of their goal last night,  a cracking hit but in slow motion he did seem to flop at it a bit.

Not a scapegoat at all we just seem dead ropey with him in goal.

I agree, but that doesn't explain the defensive disasters against Liverpool and Chelsea?

I guess the short story is that we don't have the depth or quality to easily switch or adapt to a new style of play. The very best teams have players with flexibility and unpredictability. We have the roundest of pegs in the roundest of holes. Last season it was a perfect concoction, but once a remedy once found it was always going to be tough.

January, with the prestige of the Champions League still with us, is probably the most important transfer window in our history. Find someone even close to Kante, plus perhaps a more creative midfielder, and hopefully it will give us the freedom to be more flexible tactically.

He's doing just fine considering the poisoned gift he got. He's just stepped in and can't be held for responsible in anyway for the defensive disasters. Kasper is a wonderful GK but still got many goals shipped. Hardly his fault since the CBs are on Championship mode and the midfield isn't providing cover.
