Summer Signings

Have any of the £60+ million pounds we have spent in the summer improved on what we had so far? Did they address the areas that really needed strengthing?

Is Slimani really any better than Ulloa? Yes he's score more because he has played a lot more minutes, but does he hold it any better, does he get off the ground and win more flick ons, does he link with other players? We did need another quality striker to take the weight of Vardy and Mahrez, but was Slimani the right option?

Is Musa any better than Albrighton or Gray? Where is his best position, what does he offer? Did we need more wingers if thats what he is?

Is Zieler better than Hamer? Hamer was a decent shot stopper but poor with his feet, is this any better? (I would say possibly worse). We clearly needed a decent back to Kasper, but we clearly didnt sign one/

Hernandez. Hasnt played a great deal but when he has looks lightweight and too easy to bully in this league. We did need some younger more mobile legs in defence, but not convinced he is the answer. That said, apparently he had great stats for interceptions in spain, and can pass the ball, two things none of our midfielders except Drinky can do, so i would try him in midfield, can he be any less effective than King?

Mendy. Clearly too early to make any comment on him but lets hope for all our sakes he gets playing soon.

Kapustka . Again, impossible to really comment, but why sign him?

My opinion is we had our best ever chance to attract real quality to the club, champions of England and Champions league football and we have blown it on a huge scale. We needed to strengthen the spine of the team, Back up Keeper, centre back, ball winning midfielder to replace Kante, creative goal scoring midfielder we have missed for years (Joe Allen etc) and a quality strong Striker to compliment Vardy. I think coupled with a disastrous preseason playing marketing games we have had a terrible season so far, and are left playing championship quality (At best) players (King, Amartey, Zeiler) in the team of the current champions which i think the club really need to look at themselves for, manager included.

The summer signings were totally lacking and those we have signed haven't  set the world  on fire but that's  not really the main problem which is so many of last season's HEROS  are badly under performing  and have failed to adapt their game too a much wiser opposition and that includes CR

Everything about the summer has been poor.

We lost Walsh and Kante. Both essential to us. Did Walsh do more than just recruit? Did he have tactical knowledge too? Kante, enough said, was our best player and I got laughed at on here when I said I'd rather lose any other player instead of Kante.

We didn't improve the defence so we're now left with two ageing centre halves we cannot change. We didn't replace Kante well enough - we need a strong ballwinning midfielder to play alongside Drinkwater - I'm not talking about Mendy as it's difficult to judge but I'm aware he has been injury prone before?

Slimani is better than Ulloa but not worth £30mill. His first touch, and Musa's first touch, is very questionable. Zieler is no better than Hamer but people don't say it just because Zieler came from Germany and Hamer came from Charlton. Hamer did nothing wrong last time he was our goalkeeper - in fact I only recall one mistake (against Spurs).

Don't see how anyone can blame Slim or claim he's not good enough in any way. 5 in 10 in our current shite excuse for football is quite a decent return as far as I am concerned. Maybe if we wernt obsessed with starting Vardy ahead of him we would be able to get the measure of how good he can be.

I think its more about the signings we didnt get. Had we grabbed Silva from Sportling Lisbon and had we persuaded Burnley to part with Michael Keane I think we would have been OK. Hernandez was bought in on a free as cover at RB or CB. Kaputska is one for the future and Zieler, a World Cup winner was meant to be a better back up option which he probably is. Slimani is a top class striker but creates tactical problems as it seems to be him or Vardy instead of both but his return for us has been solid, especially when you look at the lack of service he has had. Musa has been the weird one for me. I thought he was bought in to replace Okazaki. He started up front and didnt set the world on fire, then Slimani signs and we see him play winger, wide midfield and even Vardys replacement. He has been slung around the frontline in recent times, seemed to make wide left his position and then Albrighton has returned to the side!

Id day they are 7/10 signings that have improved us but we are a bit of a mess at the moment and need to find a way to incorporate the players to get the best out of them.

How anyone can ask question whether Slimani is better than Ulloa is beyond me.

The man is quality. Would have won us the game if Amartey didn't nick it off his toes towards the end.

Why though? Does he win most headers? Does he link up well with other strikers, does be hold it up any better? Hes scored some good goals in a struggling team but then he has played a lot more than Ulloa or Musa.

Slimani is better  tbf (not worth £30 mill though) but Zieler is no better  than Hamer.

If Slimani played every minute of every game he would probably score 15-20 goals.

If Ulloa played every minute of every game he would probably score 8-13 goals.

That is the difference.

Think we've bought ok. Perhaps over the odds and maybe our squad rather than starting XI is what's stronger, but there are bigger issues and obviously losing the best CDM in the league is going to be a blow.

Crazy we didn't strength the defence after Hernandez. Back 4 are getting on a bit.

Also not signing another centre mid after Mendy's injury was madness.

Loss of Walsh made for a rubbish summer window, and will most likely result in a rubbish January window

Slimani > Ulloa

Gray > Musa > Albrighton

Hernandez decent enough as a CB/RB, could be tried in DM but won't be.

I have a hard time believing you were laughed at for saying that about Kante. I dont think you were the only one who recognised Kante was a very important player for us, in fact I think pretty much everyone in the world knew that, even people who don't watch football.

As for Mendy, no, he hasn't been injury prone at all.

Just think we could have recouped that money by selling Vardy and Mahrez

Because they're not fulfilling their price tags this season either or the wages they get paid.

The team are in turmoil as are some of us on this site.........................Sorry people but I'm hoping they feel the pain we do.

It hurts.
