well Morgan, the captain hasn't done **** all to stop us playing so crap, in fact I'd say he is one of the bigger culprits, we looked all over the pl;ace at the back with Kasper in goal too, and if your captain isn't part of your best team tough

It was a bit of individual brilliance from him (and stupidity from the Boro defender) which got us a draw. And I can't name a defender who contributed more than him to the game today. Plus none of the alternatives have shone when they've had their chance, so - with that in mind - to single out the captain and drop him really could provoke a lot of unrest.

Dropping Morgan, the captain, could have huge repercussions. Huth, yeah, I think it's time we looked at ways of either giving him more support (different LB, two DCMs in a 4-2-3-1, or a back three) or looked at other options. But I've been far from convinced by Hernandez, even if it's early days.

I think dropping Morgan would be good. He's looked just as lost as Huth has and been just as poor. Dropping the captain who has been poor would let everyone know they are not safe. I would also make Drinky captain.

To be honest I can't see how it can get much worse? We scraped a draw at home against one of the divisions new boys with 2 penalties; and the first pen in my view is debatable. We are only 2 points clear of the relegation places! We've got a squad of 25 we might as well use it and give those yet to play many games a chance. If anything it will shock a few into performing like we know they can. The likes of Gray, Hernandez and Musa now deserve a chance to show what they can do.

But you are convinced by Huth or Morgan this season?

No, I said we should look at other options for Huth in the message!

Morgan - there's a lot of danger attached to dropping any influential team member, but the captain especially. And I don't think he's been the worst of our culprits this year, even though he has - like you suggest - been very poor.

The biggest problem is the shortage of alternatives. Hernandez has had opportunities and hasn't really taken them, with one possible exception in the CL. He looks like he's short on pace, so I'm not sure that would be the right thing for us. Benalouane isn't even registered. Fuchs seems poorer defensively this season than in attacking positions, so I don't think he's the answer at CB. Wasilewski appears to be done for.

So we can try the 3-5-2, perhaps with Albrighton on the right and Simpson tucked into the middle. Perhaps we could give Chilwell a go in a back four, though I've seen nothing other than hype to indicate that he's the answer. Or maybe we could switch to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 and get an extra deep-sitting midfielder in there to protect the defence.

But we have to be careful that we handle the changes carefully, because we're 13th right now but could be a lot worse off if Ranieri loses the dressing room. We need to make changes, but we don't want to completely rip up the rule book. Not only because we don't need to, but also because - if we do - then we could make this situation a whole lot worse.

Zeiler, Fuchs, Albrighton and King need dropping for me

                                                                   Hamer

                                          Simpson        Wes       Huth       Schlupp

                   Mahrez                 James                Amartey                          Musa

                                                  Vardy                              Slimani

4-4-2 just isn't working, Claudio needs to try something different because we've become very easy to play against.

I'd consider playing 3 at the back with Hernandez superior passing skills bridging the gap between defence and midfield, a role that Huth is performing pretty  unsuccessfully right now.

With Simpson/ Albrighton (probably Albrighton) on one side and Fuchsy bombing on there'd be an opportunity to shore up the central midfield area with a third CM and I'd then have Mahrez roaming behind Slim as they seem of have a good understanding of each other's game.

The issue with that is that there's no clear choice for a third CM however IMHO midfield 2 is just not working at all, on any level. Perhaps Simpson at Wing back and Albrighton tucked in to CM for his defensive qualities?

He won't drop zieler and James just isn't ready to start yet. The rest looks OK although I'd rest vardy and play mahrez behind Slimani with gray out wide

But you must be aware that it would be the difference between a lot of discontent bubbling under, and a lot of discontent bubbling over. To drop a defender who hasn't been the worst of your culprits (he was better than Fuchs today, and far better than Huth), who has been your captain for over four years; the most successful captain in your history - is bound to upset a lot of people. Right now Ranieri is - we can see with our own eyes - laying into his players, asking for more, but in public he's trying to keep a lid on things. That lid would be blown off if we dropped Morgan.

Perhaps you want that to happen, I don't know. But I remember when Parker, as captain, was dropped in 1996 and O'Neill nearly got the sack shortly after. I remember when Elliott was dropped in 2002 and it served, effectively, to confirm our self-destruction. I remember when Matt Mills fell foul of Pearson in 2012, and the commotion that it caused at the time, even though dropping the captain was absolutely the right thing to do.

To take any two or three out of Vardy, Mahrez, Huth and Fuchs out of the side would be a huge statement and yet, handled carefully, it might not throw the squad into chaos. To take Morgan out, in the absence of many obvious alternatives, could be a whole different matter.

Andy King has to be dropped next week, thats a must!! The lad looks frightened to death and way out of his depth bless him...it reminds me of Junior Lewis :(

Things are not great at present I know but we are not bottom three and the champions league has taken a lot of attention of the players.

we are who we are, anyone who thinks that supporting city is about winning every week needs to go and support barca.

we won the bloody league ,unless The whole eleven lay down on the pitch and let the opposition score at will then they deserve our support and adulation for the rest of time.

the fact that we are pretty shit makes last season all the more remarkable.

support our team for the rest of the season and next whether or not that is in the championship or premier league.

christ we were in division one drawing at Hartlepool not six years ago.

I think we are too flat at the moment. I want to see a bit more going forward and a bit of good old fashion grit at the back.

I would look at the spine. Down the middle and put our match winners there. I would switch it up slightly and go three at the back.

Gk - as soon as Kasper is back the better

morgan

huth

fuchs - his experience makes him able to play here. Plus, his passing range gives us an outlet and improves out dire distribution this year.

Albrighton - get him on the right get him to the byline get him to deliver a ball.

schlupp - only option with Fuchs at the back. His pace could do some damage.

drinkwater

james - 60% fit James is better than King and Amartey at present. Both need to up there games tenfold.

mahrez - he's our playmaker. Make him realise that. When mahrez ego is high so are his performances.

vardy - get some service to the man.

slimani - goalscorer at present

its time for a change, or the boss needs to go. the back four are terrible the midfield is a basket case and the forwards don't get any good ball. if the boss refuses to make changes his head should be on the block. the transfer window can not come quick enough. we need a centre half and a right back and a TOP CLASS midfieder, but until then this is what changes I would like to see.

kasper

don't want simpson but not sure who can take the spot????

wes

hernandez

fuchs

mahrez

james

armarty

schlupp

slimani

 vardy or musa

the boss also needs us to play football rather than kick and hope, we need to change how we play and keep the ball more.

Any post/thread loses all credit and my interest when a squad is listed and the poster names a player not in our listed squad.

Benny can't play for us FFS how many times.

lol

FFS Benny is in our PL squad.

Don't know when he was added, but it's not hard to check.

We've got too many players in our squad who deserve a chance. It can't get much worse than the shite we were offered up today. Vardy is a disgrace. Doesn't look arsed and is more bothered about selling his book and making his film than proving he is genuine quality rather than a 1 season wonder. Too cushy on his £100k a week. Riyad looks like he cares but could do with a break and we have options that can freshen it up.

Huth looks a shadow of what we saw last year.

Zieler

Benalouane

Hernandez

Fuchs

Albrighton

Amartey

James

Schlupp

Gray

Okazaki

Slimani

To start the next few games for me. Time to let all of the squad know that no one is irreplaceable. You perform or you are on the bench/out of the squad. The shit out there today was not acceptable. Professional footballers being paid massive amounts looking like Sunday League standard players.

Time for a change?

Time for a ginger rant and overreaction more like.

This crap doesn't deserve a thread of its own should be another bitter boo boy rant for the post match thread.

Benny and Was in just for the hell of it

Vardy to Captain it might inspire him.

Sod it I can't be arsed........................... Remind you of some people we've been watching.

The reality is they need beating with a stick cos they we've given them the carrot

wierd - he was our registered player when the original squad was put in end Aug. can only assume that at the time, it wasn't decided if he was staying or not and we could have cancelled his contract, making him a free agent.

I assume that if you have the space for a senior pro in the squad then you can add them after the end of August, as long as they were registered with you at the time.

expect we will see him in the  FA cup (on the bench at least)

Well you got me on that. And the other one I always thought it was a 25man squad you had to name we appear to have 26.

Chilwell doesn't count toward the 25.

I was not aware Benny was registered, but if he is, surely he is worth a shout in the match day 18. He is also more than capable as the left sided CB as he played in our league cup outings last year.

Fair enough.

About time Benny and Hernandez got a game then. They can't look as lost as Wes and Huth do sometimes. Shake it right up Kapustka no 10 okazaki cm Gray and Musa on the wings with big slim up front.

How can a 25 man squad be a 26 man squad? Not denying what it says on that Premier League site, but back at the beginning of September Benny was not listed in any of the squad reports, and you're not allowed to change them until Jan 1st apparenty.

Now who knows if he is any good, but he has  played for the under 23s for several months and yet seems nowhere near the first team despite costing £5 million and being in his late 20s. Very odd

Mahrez needs dropping,

is body language is a joke,

his pathetic attempt at taking on 3-4 players is boring as well as predictable,

and as always gives the ball away in doing so,

he slows the game down,

vardy and slimani we're both screaming for the ball during counter attacking incidents yestaday, yet he does the above,

said it befour and il say it again,

mahrez is massively overrated,

so if we're talking of change,

play grey instead, seems to be so much more creative than mahrez is at present
