AFCON

Whilst it has been funny, we should probably stop it with the Nigeria stuff now else we'll be tempting fate. Would be just our luck this season for a team to get disqualified in the run-up to the tournament and Nigeria be invited to take their place.

Because we have that much power...

How can Nigeria be invited to take the place of someone else when they are 5000-1 favourites to win AFCON? I've got £2.50 on Musa scoring with a scorpion kick against Upper Volta.

So on that logic:

Liechtenstein is a European country therefore they play in the EURO's

Remember the great Liechtenstein team of the 90's? Fabulous side. Played total football. Won the euros in 92 and World Cup in 96. And then I believe they won the FA trophy in 99'. Great days.

They also came second in the synchronized swimming competition at last year's jungle olympics (they missed out only to the ants who incorporated the building of a bridge over troubled water into their pool routine to the sound track of 'Bridge over Troubled Water' by S&G). Amazing if you were there. Less so if you were not.

Not sure where else to post but Mahrez and Slim both scored twice for Algeria today in a friendly against the giants Mauritius

Not that it matters a great deal but they apparently beat fellow Africans the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Now I thought my geography was quite good and I had heard of most of the countries in the world and certainly the ones that were quite big but I had never heard of this place until research it 5 mins ago.

Looking at the size of it compared to say Senegal, Ghana or Morocco, I cant work out how I have never heard of them!!!

Pretty poor country that has only been around since early 1990s.  Lots of border challenges Algeria and Sengal in their history.  French speaking and not been historically rich or good at football.  Lots of oil and gas resources have been discovered there recently, but it is a very politically unstable country leading to a lot of hesitancy to establish there.

Only know that because we were going to set up an office there...

Ghana's only 8 miles across. It looks bigger on maps. Mauritania is nearly 100 miles across, but there's nothing to do there, apart from watching sand, which is the main amusement of its inhabitants. At night they all play pinochle, but they've got to watch that because it's considered un-Islamic behaviour by the mullahs.

In Mauritania, where big is beautiful and stretch marks are sexy, young girls are brutally force-fed a diet of up to 16,000 calories a day — more than four times that of a male bodybuilder — to prepare them for marriage

The lads from Mauritania would love the fat slags in Newcastle lol

I think a couple of me exes were Mauritanian

Hopefully they can continue scoring for the rest of the season. :D

16000 calories.... Kind of makes taking 4 wife's look like hedging the bets. ''Natural causes'' will see to at least 3 of them.

Mauritius is a different country to Mauritania.

I'm getting confused now. So, Mauritius is the one with the dodoes and Mauretania is the liner. I'm glad that we've got that sorted out, otherwise we could have gone on baffling each other for days. I thought Algeria were drawn in an easy group, but Mauretania, Bismarck and Ark Royal looks well tough, to be quite honest.

Zambia just won the U-20s AFCON.

I expect us to sign a few of the players soon.

The first team to win the competition with more than half the squad over the age of 20
