desertfox2 Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Sky have us down as the most likely affected side. With it looking likely that Mahrez, Slim, Amartey and Schlupp will be going. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10621999/which-premier-league-players-could-play-at-afcon-2017 Do we have the depth to cover those already or are we in need of some big business in Jan? Personally think Gray will step up to the plate and give the Don a major selection headache when Mahrez comes back. More likely to be at Albrighton's expense though. Arguably Ulloa is in better form than Slim at the moment. Amartey could be a big loss as he covers quite a few positions potentially. Mendy could fill in at CMJames Maybe... Can Ndidi at 19 be chucked right in? Schlupp. Meh. Might put West Brom off buying him is the downside there. PRob ably better cover at LB than Chilwell after the Porto game though. Squad would be bare which is a bit worrying. if we were to get any injuries or suspensions. Thoughts?
StanSP Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Don't see how the Porto game can be used as a barometer for Chilwell because the whole side played shit. Schlupp will hopefully be sold before the AFCON even starts so it won't matter any way. Slim will be a miss as Ulloa doesn't cut it for me any more and we're bare anyway with Okazaki and Vardy up top. I think regardless we have to sign a striker as I think Musa will be used as a winger. We have to sign a better striker anyway.
FireFox Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Musa and Ndidi will be gone with Nigeria as well.
Fox92 Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Well out of the four players you've listed, the player we'll really miss is Mahrez but I have full confidence in Gray.

We may well see if he's ready or not against Everton

Finnegan Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Kasper, Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs Gray, Drinkwater, Mendy/King, Albrighton Okzaki, Vardy How will we ever cope?

Dan Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 What about Musa and Ndidi? Haven't Rwanda qualified?
urban.spaceman Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Won't Musa and Ndidi being going too? I read somewhere they're Nigerian.
crazyleicester Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 3 of the aforementioned have been hit and miss whilst Slimani playing largely effects Vardy and the team formation. Im not saying they are poor players, far from it but Mahrez has been below average for us this season and never mind sensational like last, Amartey is young so has one good game one not so good whilst Schlupp is quite a poor player that most dont want anywhere near the team. I think Musa and especially Gray will thrive, Ndidi looks like a done deal and he and Mendy can fight to play alongside DD as well and Oka and Ulloa never let us down when called upon. I really think that its time for Gray and possibly Kapustka and Musa to rise to the occasion!!
lifted*fox Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 BUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN RANIERI GOES TO AFCON?!
tylesta Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Okazaki is in this tournament ain't he. He's Japanese and there africans
foxy boxing Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 They knew they were going to lose these players to AFCON, so they and we can't complain.big loss mahrez but apart from short of numbers not fussed about the rest!
lgfualol Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 Will we see Gray play, or will Ranieri play Hernandez or Amartey at RW instead

Russell sprout Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 To think amartey could be a loss almost seems embarrassing, though to his defence he's been better of late
FireFox Posted 24 December 2016 Posted 24 December 2016 After Schlupp and Mahrez leave, Gray will have that RW spot all for himself. Good for you.I hope not. Stick Albrighton on the right. Gray on the left. Though I'd rather have Musa on the left starting, shame he will be at AFCON.
