Club statement on Claudio's future

Only that by reading between the lines , there are one or two who certainly don't respect him.

I know The situation has been getting worse. Ranieri is angry that his faith and loyalty isn't being repaid on the pitch.

So I come back to the issue. Why is he still selecting them?!

My blame is massively with the players, they need to step up, but when Ranieri is still picking the same players he's got to take a lot of the blame.

We weren't. Can we get rid of this myth before people start to believe it? You're rewriting history like a few others have - I'm guessing because of an irrational hatred of a great manager we had. We may have played shite in a few games, but in many we were putting a proper shift in and were either not getting the rub of the green or were on the end of some terrible refereeing decisions. Man City, Spurs and Arsenal away are just some examples of matching the top teams in the league that season and not getting the results.

We certainly were not putting in the atrocious performances we have this season. Thrashings from Chelsea, Southampton, Utd. No goals against teams like Burnley, Bournemouth and Boro recently.

I really liked Pearson, as it happens. I just remember how it felt watching that football at the time. We weren't unlucky. We were bad.

People need to stop this. The scorelines were tight because we never attempted to score. We were bottom for months because we were the worst team in the league for months. We were really, really shit.

Flipping heck, have we been attempting to score this season then? I must have missed out on that that bit!!

The difference was Pearson knew how to defend, and play ugly when needed, what's more the team fought. Its a fact we didn't lose more than 2-0 that season, that was the building of strong foundations.

The problem at the moment is we have no tactics, no plan a, no plan b. I genuinely can not seen how we set up in games and what the purpose is. I would love someone to tell me what Ranieris game plan is?!

If you look at it that way, we lost 9 games by a 2 goal deficit that season. So far this season we have lost by more than 2 goals, 8 times in the prem alone, so I'd agree that it is worrying in terms of defending.

However, appart from Fuchs, ndidi and gray yesterday it was still the same players Pearson had?

Its clear the players aren't performing well enough and have no clue and we are stuck in a rut. We were bottom for nearly all of the great escape season and we are just lucky at current to be out of the bottom 3.

Players need to improve. CR has given those 11 to much support and time because of last season. Dropping the likes of Vardy, Huth, Wes and Fuchs would speak volumes for me because atm they clearly know they are 1st 11 every week.

Give them the arse ripping they deserve and drop them until they start actually performing to earn those bloody bonuses they got.

But from the players point of view I am not actually sure what tactics Claudio is setting them up to play. I think therein lies the problem, no body knows the tactics or game plan then how can we possible win a football match?

You are right.

I guess, Ulloa, Okazaki and Huth didn't really understand,

why everybody but them, got big, new contracts.

And I am also quite sure, that at some point last year

many players were fed up with all that fuss about

Vardy and Mahrez.

We're not a socialist club. Some players earn more because they are better and more valuable. Mahrez is worth a lot more than Okazaki hence he earns 3 times as much. Huth is 32. Ulloa is a squad player so he has no reason to think he will be on what Vardy is on.

I don't want us to be a club where our best player is on the same wage as our 6/10 right back

The players are taking a lot of the flak for this and whilst not entirely blameless for me the buck stops with Ranieri.

For all the talk about long term lucrative contracts and egos didn't we have to deal with this on 2 occasions albeit to a lesser extent (the league one title win in 2009 and the championship win in 2014) and managed to not let performance drastically slip like it has done now.

Under Pearson's reign you get the impression that the minute something was achieved it was on to prepare for the next challenge and be as good as we can in new territory. Yes players were rewarded under him but as a collective had something to prove and if results were not going our way the team couldn't be faulted for lack of commitment and application.

I'd say that the pitfalls of the modern player are there in most clubs but we were fortunate in Pearson that we had a figure who ruled with an iron fist no matter what players reputations were or how much they earned. Amongst Ranieri's biggest flaws is that he doesnt appear to have that authority whatsover.

We had incidents under Pearson at the turn of 2014 but there was never any doubt to me that he was anything other than a passionate man who would do his utmost to fulfill his ambitions and prove himself and that carried across to his players. Right now we seemed to be witnessing a man who knows he's on the last lap and doesnt have anything like the desire to turn it around.

It's tragic.

You'd think any player would be capable of understanding that we are either playing 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 and the basics of trying to win the game by scoring and trying not to concede more than we score...

That's obviously untrue. Lots of managers, including Wenger, Ferguson and Mourinho, commented on us being a much better side than our league position suggested. In the end a run of form which put us second only to Chelsea in terms of results in the final quarter of the season, and which rolled on into the next season when we won the title, backs up what they were saying. I was pretty critical of us at the time but no, it wasn't as dire as what we're serving up at the moment, and I'm sure you're aware of that.

The problem is that the circumstances are very different now. We have a different manager, and a good one, but one who hasn't got the sort of experience Pearson had of relegation struggles (Carlisle, Southampton, as number two at West Brom etc.). Some players have moved on - Cambiasso, Nugent, Schlupp etc., others are two years older and look two years older, and plus we've spent a hell of a lot of money on players and wages. Not to mention dealing with the impact of becoming football's greatest ever fairy tale, and the apparent breakdown in the player-manager relationship (which wasn't an issue two years ago). It goes without saying that what worked then won't necessarily work now.

I wasn't comparing it to now. It's clearly bad now.

i just think we were bad. We had players capable of being better but Pearson's approach was negative for a long period and it harmed us.

I can understand why opposition managers praised us; we had players with ability and were set up to be hard(er) to beat. But we were also easy not to lose against. There was barely ever any attacking intent. It was horrible to watch.

Its not quite as simple as that though, players will and do need more guidance from a manager.

We need a strategy, what is the strategy? We don't appear to have one from my point of view. Are we a physical long ball team, are we a quick counter attack team? do we high press? do we sit back and defend deep? do we build slowly from the back? do we pack the middle? are we a possession based team? Last season we pressed high, had teams on the front foot. Now we have no game plan, we try to defend but normally end up under more and more pressure until someone makes an error, then we fall apart, rinse and repeat!

It's becoming pretty obivous that those who have survived at the football club are the ones who say the right things to the right people. The whole thing is a massive vanity project. Ranieri will save because he says the right things at the right time and the same goes for the DoF.

Welcome to the Championship.

politics is rife in every organisation. its human nature.  you need to have bosses that can see through the crap because otherwise what you have written will happen.

it seems we don't have that here. has vichai come back early to try and get to grips with what is really going on ?  I doubt it but its possible.  I still think Claudio will stay as long as he wants to. the owners probably believe that if we go down its no problem to come back straight away. with a different manager if the current one resigns. the parachute payment will cover the period and we have made so much profit this year to fill any void.

I guess if you were in the king power marketing dept and were to analyse how much exposure the brand is getting with us near relegation as opposed to mid table obscurity, you might have a different viewpoint as to how badly things were going. of course the narrative isn't good but articles under photos on newspapers around the world aren't necessarily read by those that glance at them.

will be really interesting to see the effort put in next Wednesday and more importantly the concentration levels.

Welcome to the Championship.

John Rudkin being the finest example. Under NP our DOF at the time Terry Robinson was made the scapegoat and got rid of, in came Rudkin and he tried to bin Pearson after the James McArthur debacle. Rudkin has arguably been even worse than Robinson in terms of player recruitment, seems to never gets deals over the line and generally being an all round helmet. He needs lobbing in the sea as much as anyone.

Even if he doesn't get the sack in the next weeks, I think he'll go at the end of the season, no matter the outcome. Things went too far and there is too much bad blood in the dressing room. Pretty tragic ending to a fairy tale.

Can you really explain to Huth, why Morgan ( who is older than Huth)

got a new contract, but he didn't?

Can you really explain to Okazaki, why King got a new contract (how

many goals did he score last season?), but he didn't?

I doubt it.
