Highest ratings I have ever dished out, that's for sure. We were just so good. 

 

9s and 10s for everyone. Albrighton was my MOTM, followed closely by Kasper and Fuchs. 

 

Thought our whole defence were fantastic. Ndidi made some great tackles and interceptions. Mahrez was fantastic. Subs were spot on.

He gave 7 to Schmeichel, Fuchs, Mahrez, Ndidi and Okazaki, but 6 to the rest.

 

 

That's an injustice to Albrighton who played out of his skin and was in the running for MOTM.

only critism is slimani, I watched him for 3 mins, purely just observing him when he came on, all he did was pointing fingers when everyone around him was working so hard, he had fresh legs and literally just strolling. 

apart from that , that is the best atmosphere I have ever experience down the KP, well done boys!

Schmeichel: 10 - Not just for saving a penalty that could well have created another outcome in extra time, but for the other saves, keeping a clean sheet and commanding his area like an absolute champion. His distribution doesn't deserve to downgrade him, he has clear instructions to try to hit Vardy, particularly when we're on the break and I personally don't mind if a few go astray as it was an incredibly effective way to unnerve Sevilla's defenders. 

 

Simpson: 8.5 - They didn't have a peep against him. Closed so quickly and even showed a really good burst of pace a couple of times to get forward. Didn't clump it long, found a pass a lot of the time too. Great decision making all-round.

 

Morgan: 9 - Monster. Bundled the ball in well and clearly organised the defence; something we haven't seen him do effectively a lot this year. 

 

Huth: 9.5 - What a presence he is. Defensively, he got his head, foot or arse on the end of virtually every ball. But I gave him the extra half mark over Wes as his attacking threat is ridiculous. It took virtually 3 Sevilla players scrambling around him to stop him from getting a header on goal. Old fashioned centre half that the Spanish clearly aren't used to. 

 

Fuchs: 9 - The second coming of Maldini (last night). Didn't give any time to their wingers and his throw in is something I'm so glad to see back in action. It's basically like getting a corner. 

 

Albrighton: 10 - I've never seen a Leicester player put a shift in like that before. Scored a fantastic goal and hurled himself at everything that came at us. I'd love to know how much ground he covered last night. He put international footballers to shame with the sheer endeavour he showed. 

 

Drinkwater: 8 - Linked up play beautifully and played with real grit. Didn't let Nasri have a second and set us on the attack accurately and effectively. 

 

Ndidi: 9 - Pogba and Nzonzi are two of the highest rated central midfielders in the world right now. So far, at the completely unripe age of 20 he's shown both of them up, all with a huge smile on his face. Ariel dominance, great tackling and worked tirelessly until the very end. We've got a serious player on our hands. 

 

Mahrez: 8.5 - Showed his lightning pace on more than one occasion and constantly made things happen. If we're talking match-winners, the sheer quality of the ball he whipped in for our first tells you how vital he is for us. Imaginably an absolute pain in the arse for Sevilla's defence. 

 

Okazaki: 9 - Boy did he make that 60 minutes count. In terms of taking one for the team, this guy did it last night. A couple of lovely touches and although he was caught out a couple of times in possession, you can't fault the amount he sprinted after lost causes - it seems like he's become slightly quicker too. Intelligence shown when he dropped off and basically played as a midfielder when we were under pressure too. 

 

Vardy: 10 - Arguably the most unique footballer in Europe. His scuffed finishes were meaningless. He was Leicester's champion again last night. Bullied defenders all night long, sprinted and harried players. But I gave him a 10, more for the sheer impact he had on the game overall. He won us the free kick with a really clever touch away, drawing the foul. He also pissed Nasri off, knowing that if he was sent off the game would be virtually ours. While probably every other fan of every other club might label it dirty or a bit disgusting, Vardy showed that he wants us to win at all costs. 

 

Sampaoli - Very poor loser. He'd mugged us off and patronised the club so much before this game and the tie itself. Sure showed him.

Emotions are still running high and it's difficult to stay objective and not give everyone 10s. I'll feel harsh on some players but I'll give it a shot....

Schmeichel - 10 - Commanding, vital stops, effective distribution and a historic penalty save (first goalie to save a penalty in both legs of a CL knockout tie). On the fence whether or not the penalty was harsh or correct, but when he makes up for it like that it doesn't really matter. This performance (aided by the one in Seville) has to earn him a 10, otherwise nothing ever warrants a 10. In a performance that's so much down to team effort, he was indisputably a decisive factor in our aggregate win.

 

Simpson - 8 - Rock solid, few fouls or mistakes and showed decent crossing and Mahrez-like dribbling. Stuff that we so, so rarely see from him. I'm feeling a bit dirty for only rating him an 8.

 

Morgan - 9 - Iffy distribution first half when Sevilla efficiently shut down Drinkwater and Ndidi for large parts, but stayed rock solid as well and must've hardened his forehead substantially with all the heading. Knew little about the goal, but was in the right place at the right time and effectively scored the goal that clinched the tie. Gets a mark for that. Super celebration.

 

Huth - 8 - See Morgan®

 

Fuchs - 9 - As good as I've ever seen him. So often Sevilla were overloading down his side and yet, amazingly, they never got past him or delivered a cross of pinpoint quality (which was necessary to penetrate that wall back there). Simply a beast in the air, some crunching tackles and good forward support. Brilliant. Would have been a 10 with a goal or assist.

 

Mahrez - 8 - Still not reached last year's heights, but he's getting there and he works as hard or harder than he's ever done. Put in a big shift by his standards and provided a sumptuous cross for the first goal, which is exactly the sort of this he's there for. Still struggling with his final pass and started out a bit slow. He livened up during the second half and was instrumental in our counterattacks which should have given him at least one more assist.

 

Ndidi - 8 - Was very industrious and coped with N'Zonzi and Iborra pretty well all in all. His height was absolutely crucial with all the crosses Sevilla were putting in. Efficient distribution most of the time and was never fazed, which is very impressive given his age.

 

Drinkwater - 8 - Not his best game, but he was so industrious and is responsible for us keeping our shape in the middle of the park, which forced Sevilla out wide. Several blocks and interceptions and in general dependable. Probably wouldn't have been an 8 if the opposition was Swansea in a dead rubber, but this was a high-stakes match and he, like all the others, didn't disappoint in a vital position.

 

Albrighton - 9 - Gets an extra Marc () for a well taken goal. He kept up his performance levels under Shakespeare and gave it all out there. Him and Fuchs are a good partnership down that left, and when Drinkwater comes over, we are very good at overloading and exploiting gaps when they appear. That's thanks to good movement, which Albrighton generally has, and good enough control of the ball to play quick one-twos. For a limited player, he really is getting the maximum out of what he has, thanks to his commitment and honest work rate. His celebration had the raw emotion of that Tardelli celebration from '82. Loved it.

 

Okazaki - 7 - Once again, he didn't do anything eye catching, not much went through him, but his tireless hard running is essential to our succesful style. Another limited player who will always give you a 100 % committed and honest performance.

 

Vardy - 7 - He gets marked down for missing some guilt-edged opportunities, but also for his antics on the night. I realise on this stage, you do everything you can to gain an advantage, but that doesn't mean I like it and want to see it. He fell over easily at times and the 'headbutt' reaction was a bit embarrassing. Then again, it's clever to provoke a riled up Nasri knowing he might blow a fuse. So I'm kind of split here.
Put in a lot of graft and like Okazaki is essential to this team. Won a larger share of headers than he had the right to and looks to really enjoy playing in this gung ho in-your-face manner.

 

Subs:

 

Slimani - 6 - Much needed energy and also gave Sevilla a new headache. Vardy running from deep meant he got on the end of two good chances after Slimani's introduction. Islam also contributed in our counterattacking play with some nice interplay with Mahrez on several occasions and the added height was very useful. Should have scored though.

 

Amartey - N/A - Not on long enough to make an impression, but happy he came on after having lost his place in the squad.

 

Shakespeare - 10 - Has exceeded all that could reasonably have been expected of him. He set the lads up perfectly last night. He seems to know exactly which buttons to push with this squad and to turn the tie around in the manner we did, and against one of the best sides in Europe at the moment, deserves credit and recognition. It has been simply flawless so far and the danger is that he cannot sustain it for the long term. But we won't know that as long as we keep winning with two goal margins, will we?

Cant believe this is the same group of players who looked so listless last month.

 

Shakespeare 9 - Exactly the right approach to the game albeit I thought we should have switched to 3 in the middle as soon as they went down to 10. Could have killed the game immediately at that point (albeit I'm prepared to accept the counterpoint that had Vardy had his shooting boots on then we also would have put it to bed sooner.

albrighton was quite sensational yesterday, one of the best individual performances in years

I hope regardless of his really poor decision making on the night that Okazaki gets a respectable average grade.

 

I am one of his biggest fans - and when the balls at his feet he makes it pretty difficult to defend him sometimes - but that's the hardest I've seen him work for us in a very long time. Set the tone for the rest of the team and didnt allow Nzonzi or Iborra to get into the spaces they were in in the first leg.

 

A big difference between the first and second leg was the lack of joy Sevilla had between the edge of the box and the centre circle. Countless times in the first leg they had the luxury of being able to play cute lay offs around the box, managing to get shots on target. Okazaki's work rate and intelligent pressing, coupled with an incredible amount of running from our 4 wide men did not allow Sevilla to breathe. 

A tactical masterclass from Shakespeare and an incredibly athletic performance from Shinji and our full backs.
