Only six months older than Corbyn.

He'll be 73 in 2022. Same age as Corbyn.

A decent job of Brexit and he's surely the party leader for 2022.

Getting on a bit now. Should have won the leadership instead of Cameron.

I liked Davis at the time he lost to Cameron. I believe he opposed tuition fees as well and he stood up for civil liberties at a time when Blair & Co were happy to demolish them. He's got a crap record on LGBT+ rights though which I think is a shame. He'd need to win my support back and I'm not sure there's such a thing as a good job of Brexit. I can imagine someone in their early 70's struggling with the demand of being PM so he'd need a good cabinet behind him.

Tbf to Cameron, I read somewhere that he'd gained more seats than any Tory leader in history. Whether Davis would have done the same who knows? Proper Tory though (Davis) who genuinely believed what he said.

Pretty sure the Tory (Davis) strategy is to just leave without paying anything. Seems that's most popular with the public right now but then that isn't surprising. It's one thing saying you won't pay a penny and getting applause for it, but what will the consequences be?

I thought it was pretty much accepted that the bill was bogus anyway, otherwise they'd owe us more money in assets. I might be wrong though.

I don't know the details, I'd have thought the EU would have been making plans since the referendum to decouple themselves from British contributions. I'm just concerned we'll get a deal based either on what suits a few multi-millionaires or what the Tory political machine thinks will make it popular. There's really no deal better than simply remaining in the thing.

If you've already agreed to add to the budget, and then you say neeer you're alright, it's generally seen as honorable to keep to your promise, but your mileage may vary.

If I signed a contract to jointly pay rent for a flat, and then decided I wasn't going to live there anyway, I doubt my estate agent would go "Hey, it's cool man. No need to keep to your commitments."

This argument isn't going to win over the brexit public though. They'll just see it as limp wristed lefties wanting to send £Billions to Brussels to spite brexiteers. They'll point to the fact we've put in more money than we've received over the years anyway and it'll serve as further evidence that the EU was living off of us. No such thing as "honour" in international negotiations. Also they've had 3 years advance notice that we are leaving.

The budget was agreed before anyone knew we were leaving.  We agreed to the pay the money then.

Large swathes of the public have been compelled to abandon economic facts and live in a masturbation fantasy of a flag-waving Albion.

Pandering to people living in a masturbation fantasy is fairly disrespectful although it has helped a few people's careers.

With a group of the lads in our 30s/40s/50s last night. They are all self-employed in variois jobs. All are voting tory. Most of them could explain in normal terms. One in particular because he believes corbyn will 'give our country away' and we might as well 'just give the keys to any tom, dick or harry'. He got extremely angry telling me that corbyn wants to give Gibraltar away. When i asked why he thought that he showed me some far right viral bullshit on facebook. Honestly just depressing. By all means vote for the tories but at least have the decency to look into things properly.

He should be the leader now to be honest.

Don't discount Ruth Davidson though. She's doing a phenomal job of making the Tories electable in Scotland, is a good media performer and very likeable. Depends I suppose if she grabs herself a safe Tory seat at some point during the next term or instead sets her eyes to being First Minister.

The problem we're starting to see with Brexit is our governments position seems to be that we'll get everything or we'll walk away with nothing.

That will end any chance of any kind of deal with a very large trade partner.

Its all very well using the German car example, but as they will have the power of the single market behind them, they can plug that gap a lot more easily by forming a trade deal elsewhere.

We however do not.

The 'no deal is better than a bad deal' is playing up to the electorate for votes in an attempt to show strength but what it will do is fvck us over for years.

Personally I doubt they would ever be that stupid but you never know.

As if the additional apostrophe in 'tattoos' wasn't bad enough.

I'd have been getting my piercings done elsewhere long ago

And piercing should be plural, unless they have a restriction.

On the subject of free tuition fees.....

Are they just for school leavers or anybody?

Does anyone know the answer to this?
