The union. Scottish politics has become a contest on who can wave their flags harder.

Thank you, I'm not at home so only got my mobile on me.

That's a positive anyway (and I'm trying to look for them in case) - still my intention to do a degree in history at some point so next 4-5 years would certainly be the time to do it if the taxpayer will fund it.

I could probably afford to it at push but free tuition would be a huge bonus, there's my "oh well, at least".... if he does get in!

History degrees must be outrageously overpriced these days, when I was at uni people were complaining because the degree cost about £2K and they had to pay £3K tuition, now you have degrees costing £2K and people paying £9k tuition for them.

They believe in the Union, when someone is trying to take away your birthrite of being a citizen from Land's End to John O'Groats you'll react.

Scottish Labour pretends to believe in it, but people aren't believing them when their leader says he's cool with a second indy referendum and it's becoming widely known he's prepared to do a deal with them.

I'm leaning towards this. Short term I'd predict that not many ordinary voters will pay attention, or at least enough attention to change the way they vote, long term I'm not so sure - realistically, will he be the only one charged?

The timing is slightly odd but I guess it would look even worse if CPS had waited until after the election.

I assume he will be the only MP/candidate charged. The CPS gave all the others under investigation the all-clear a few weeks back, though Tory HQ had previously been fined for their breaches of rules on electoral expenses.

Law has to take precedence over politics. Taking an extreme example, if a candidate murdered someone during the campaign, they'd have to be charged. The CPS couldn't wait to see whether they were elected.

Some time ago, the CPS said they'd proceed with their investigations and announce the results when they were complete, regardless of political events. It was also after the election had been called that they announced that the others would NOT be charged. The Tories must have known there was a risk that Mackinlay would be charged and could have selected a different candidate. Either they believe he's innocent and wanted to back him regardless or took a gamble that may have backfired a bit.

He may have been assured of a job anyway if his family owned their own business and the one that works and studies would be behind him in the interview queue.

You know those stories about benefit cheats you always tell are a tiny minority we should ignore? Your example is even smaller a minority than that.

So there are no family run businesses where son/daughter takes over or an opening is found for them?

I worked for a family business. I did not mention a figure.

It's not just his views on gays that are bad enough, but his inability to just answer a question. "I'm not homophobic I was vaguely involved with a gay rights protest over 30 years ago when I was 16 (before I became a Christian)".

There's few more smug self conceited politicians than david davies every time he tries to pull the wool over peoples eyes over trade deals with the EU he just sits there with a smug expression chewing on his glasses.

Question Time does get funnier every week though, audience member stating because she saw a marks and spencer's shop on holiday that we'll be ok if we walk away from trade talks with the EU.

Here's a woman so deluded yet she choose to go on a political TV show so you'd think she be a little clued up.  If she's that deluded what does that say for the rest of the public?

At least the Tory manifesto and Theresa may not doing the debate has finally knocked the Tories off their pedestal (a little), 2 months ago Mrs May could do no wrong.

It will still a comfortable Tory win though unfortunately.

Oh I'm voting Labour.

Mrs May was absolutely right to miss the debate in my view. Anything involving the BBC contrives to be a put-up job. She speaks enough with Corbyn at Question Time. No need for more when she's got voters to speak with and who probably talk more sense, more frankly  and with greater understanding.

Naz Shah stood on a stage in Bradford today and told the audience that "Israel has a right to exist".

Brave (although dubious she believes it given her previous), but wouldn't surprise me if that lost her the seat, Salma Yaqoob is already said to be running them fairly close and that sort of comment is a disaster in a constituency that has elected George Galloway before.

Labour’s Naz Shah was taunted with anti-Semitic abuse after defending the Jewish state, during a hustings in Bradford.

An audience member during the event appears to shout “Jew Jew Jew” at the Labour candidate for the Bradford West, after she reiterated her belief in Israel’s right to exist.

The politician, who is looking to retain the seat on June 8’s election, was suspended by Labour last year for an anti-Semitic Facebook post. She has since apologised and been widely praised for her efforts to learn more about the Jewish community and Israel, after her suspension.

Salma Yaqoob 5/2 to win the seat, that's well worth a punt.

Right wing skinheads I bet.

With regards to South Thanet; anyone else thinks it's unfair that many postal votes have already been sent in - surely something like this could change a fair proportion of those.
