Nonsense! He'd place a jar of his home-made jam on her table, stroke the corgis and sit down for a chat about his allotment, manhole covers, mass nationalisations and stuff like that.

Robin Cook would have been better, though (as PM and as company for the Queen). He was very knowledgeable about horse-racing (wrote a racing column) so she'd have loved that....

@Alf Bentley are you going to do the prediction thread again on Monday or Tuesday?

I enjoyed the last one. We could see some biggish names depart this time.

They believe in the Union, when someone is trying to take away your birthrite of being a citizen from Land's End to John O'Groats you'll react.

Scottish Labour pretends to believe in it, but people aren't believing them when their leader says he's cool with a second indy referendum and it's becoming widely known he's prepared to do a deal with them.

Hallelujah!

Finally you get how we Remainers feel.

It gets better. Theresa May has turned down appearing on Woman's Hour now. She has however agreed to appear at her local WI weekly branch meeting where she will have a chat over tea and scones with other members.

Miliband has said that he's going to report her to the Job Centre for failing to attend 2 job interviews. Should definitely have her benefits sanctioned!

You really feel it's your birthright to be able to live in Greece?

It had occurred to me, but I'll have quite a lot on.

If you feel like doing it, please do. If you don't, I might or might not get around to it.

Actually, yes.

I feel like it's my birthright to live anywhere I want. Why is that so weird?

My daughter's birth right, at least.

No different to what you were saying about the union with Scotland - it may not be a birth right that you value, but it's one that do, and I resent losing mine because you don't want yours.

I respect your opinion.

I don't really see it as the same though, one is revoking freedom of movement to others nations, one is revoking your citizenship of a nation.

Freedom of movement between countres isn't really comparable for me to being born in a country and having that taken away.

lol - alright, Tim Farron.

There's two things missing from debates on freedom of movement - the political and economic reason.

Economically, you need to be able to enter a country to trade there. If C&A, Costa, HSBC, etc could be told they're not allowed into Portugal there would be no free-trade.

Politically, the history of Europe has been demonisating our neighbours and then invading them. European institutions were started to halt this and freedom of movement is essential here.

Obviously nothing here is perfect. But assuming things will be perfect, or even better, by removing freedom of movement is a fantasy.

A fantasy that we're already starting to see unravel by looking at our leaving foreign nurses, immigration controls that even pro-brexiteers like Wetherspoons have now criticised, our leaving tech companies and our leaving financial companies.

It may not surprise you to see the guardian supporting labour - belatedly - but given the shitty time they've given corbyn it almost is. Anybody interested in reading the rationale to see what they agree or disagree with can find it here:

The Guardian view on our vote: it’s Labour

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/ng-interactive/2017/jun/02/the-guardian-view-on-our-vote-its-labour

The Guardian has been interesting. They've been very cautious about Labour and particularly Corbyn. I've known various Corbyn supporters who've abandoned the Guardian. If I'm recalling correctly various journalists were not unfavorable to a breakaway party to Labour. You do wonder what would have happened with a stronger Lib Dem campaign. Obviously May's horrific campaign, horrific manifesto and complete inability to communicate outside tedious three-word soundbites has been a boon to Labour and those skeptical about supporting them.

That's because you see yourself as British and not European, in the same way some people born in Scotland see themselves as Scottish and not British.

Obviously there are differences, the EU hasn't been around as long as the Union and the issue of nationality, but there are some very clear similarities and the reasons for breaking up either union are similar.

The Guardian won't even be around in a few years, it's circulation is dying and they are now begging for money online.

Awkward for the Mirror as well, they called for to go but will have to endorse him.

It's a strange election, Corbyn might poll the highest of any Labour leader since Blair, yet the Guardian and Mirror called for him to go, the Staggers called him a joke, most prominent left-wing journalists disowned him and 80% of his own party told the nation he isn't fit to lead a political movement. I'll upset @Swan Lesta again but the comparisons to Trump are obvious.

No one has said it, but this is left wing populism in action.

Not a fan of the guardian. Typical champagne socialists paper.
