The details of the contract have been finalised and an official announcement is expected later today, the Mercury understands. Shakespeare has been in talks with the club since the end of the season and final aspects of his contract have been agreed between the club and his representatives. The 53-year-old was assistant manager to Nigel Pearson and Claudio Ranieri, but he successfully stepped into the breach after the sacking of Ranieri in February. He won his first six games as manager in all competitions and City climbed out of the relegation zone to finish comfortably 12th in the table. Under him, City also reached the quarter finals of the Champions League having overturned a first leg deficit in the last 16 against Sevilla before narrowly being beaten by Atletico Madrid. lgfualol Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Would love for him to make us a consistent Europa league + team though. I just cant 'shake' the feeling this will end in tears though. Forever the pessimist.
AmarteyAndChill Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 He will keep us up, just a question mark whether he can attract players.
Melbourne Fuchs Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Feel like the contract should be two years to start off with, just to be safe. However, I'm glad it has finally been sorted.
Callabinho Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Wrong decision for me. I predict a poor pre season in the recruitment dept, and the inevitable crushing opening day defeat to Brighton. Genuinely believe that this is the wrong decision. We will see I guess....
Sionnach gorm Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I'm not a Shakey fan. Would have preferred other managers. Yet, I think, unless we have proof otherwise we need to support him.
